Yeah I noticed that at the climax of videos or a super important scene they throw an ad a milisecond before it. Not only is it rude and disruptive.... But with some Yu-Gi-Oh vids..let's just say ads play before certain.. high rarity pulls.. so now I can tell when a pull is about to happen

One thing I will say is that Konami banning the Omni negates was something people wanted and also they made a list full of things the community wanted so I believe they were pandering to is the players which I’m thankful for. Maybe they did have a tipical agenda of banning reprinted staples and it aligned with what the player wanted .

It’s the ladder no other deck (except for snake-eye) using either of those were good enough to warrant a ban.

This list literally pushed me to start playing pokemon tcg. Also $20k for winning a regional vs a deckbox and $50-$100 for a meta deck vs one card.

Tip for sacred cards. Petit moth is a great card to use. It evolves after every turn until it becomes perfectly ultimate great moth and unlike the other moth cards it doesn't have a 255 cost so it's easy to put in the deck. Without a doubt though thousand eyes restrict is the best card in the whole game

Looking forward to that anniversary pod. I know it’s going to be amazing. In terms of that streaming debate of weekly vs binge, I think I fall on weekly. I do agree with the points made that releasing a complete season might entice people to watch the whole show through. But, I’m the opposite. There’s a lot of anime on Netflix I do intend to watch, yet I just can’t force my self to watch. When season 2 of Tiger & Bunny dropped I was hyped for it, but for some reason I had a hard time fitting it into my watch schedule. It was always the last thing left after I finished watching my seasonal anime shows. However the shows that did release weekly (Delicious in Dungeon, Komi-san, Blue Period) I was able to incorporated them into my schedule.

Love your guys’ content! The dialog is nice and your chemistry shows. Question/half-baked idea for ya both: is there a way to implement a pretty popular idea I’ve seen from some Pokémon content creators and do like a draft league of popular decks or cards or maybe engines, staples, and the like? Maybe it would require some specific format but I thought this might be pretty popular and if fleshed out could be a way for people to buy packs and do a draft with yugioh similar to like a Magic format. If it took off it could boost pack sales(?) thanks for reading my blathering, keep up the good work!

I love those old gba yugioh games, Sacred Cards and Reshef. Such basic rules with some slight changes.

The alignment system in DDS is weird but fine when you get used to it, its cool because it lets you tailor your deck based on your opponent to have a better MU. Whats bullshit is they dont have to obey the banlist so theyll change of heart and raigeki you mercilessly. Crush Card Virus is your best bet at evening the odds because its basically a free boardwipe thats at 3 in that game and the opponents dont run it for some reason

Also that games drop rates are absolutely savagely low, took me like 850 duels before I got a single harpie lady. And theres hardcopy variants of all the rituals and i believe fusions in the game 1 per duelist that are 1/2048 drops lmao. Sick af if you do manage to get normal summonable blue eyes ultimate tho

I personally like the Konami is trying to incorporate Field Spells more. I think they’re cool, add more theme and story to decks. Theyre becoming more powerful but at the same time are some of the easiest cards to pop. I can’t really think of any field spell that has protection. I think about cards like Mountain and Umi that would give slight boosts. To now cards like Traptrix garden, that allow another normal summon, battle protection for Traptrix monsters and being able to banish a card to bring back a Traptrix. It sounds so OP and is, until you just MST, Duster, Lightning storm it.

Konami 100% did get every bit of blood from the stone of those banned cards. Ive heard ppl say before that konami has no reason to try and shortprint good cards because they dont profit from the secondary market but they 100% do. Good cards being more valuable increases the value prospect for stores because theyre getting more if they can source cards cheap, more stores means more players. It also makes buying a pack here or there more enticing as a gamble.

My goodness, i had a quite similar experience some 10 years ago. I was waiting in Chicago for the train that would take me home from visiting family for Christmas. It was so cold that the tracks kept freezing and delaying the train, leaving me freezing in the station with a dying game system and computer for some 5 hours. After the train finally arrives and i'm heading home the tracks freeze again and delay the train for another 5 hours. The inside of the train was almost as cold as the station had been so everyone was pretty miserable. The one bright side was the train offering everyone a few complimentary breakfast..

Yeah, it's a real gamble taking the train. Admittedly it's very scenic, but we also ended up missing the registration day for Nats!

48:40 , not just that, but sometimes some of the players themselves can ruin the game for majority of players. Some people who play this game on the more competitive or modern scene are just exhausting and suck the fun out of playing.

In Japan, that lounge is ridiculously expensive. It's almost the price of a movie to play Pokemon. Also, almost no businesses over here accept cards regularly. I don't even have a way to pay without cash. It's super ritzy.

For the pharaoh deck you should play chimaera. The support is decently new an around the same powerlevel

I mean in the Yu-Gi-Oh tagforce games, you can't surrender until the 10th turn so it makes you stay a decent amount of time in the duel rather than just being able to quit right off the bat

I think if they made generic synchros with omni-negates that required 3 or more materials (2+ tuners + 1 non-tuner or 1 tuner + 2+ non-tuners) that would solve most of the issues. That’s a lot of investment to put into one monster and I think they would see a lot less play. I know you could still summon Baronne with 1 jet + any snake-eye + Flamberge but you wouldn’t be able to get the quick sychro and draw with formula.

I doubt it. It's so easy to spam out monsters through special summons (which still aren't limited) these days so that's hardly a restriction.

Most of my decks use link kuribo A level one monster that needs to be in the graveyard, there's like 3 or four monsters including dot scaper

I played linkuribo in my pure blue eyes to help keep it consistent. Now that it's banned I need a replacement. In my deck linkuribo wasn't a huge issue but it was also super reliable for my stone plays. :/

I want to add something to the binge vs weekly debate. If a series releases all at once, and there is no other series competing with it during that day/week, it has a better shot of getting viewed all the way through on a weekend even if it is middling. If it is weekly, there is a greater chance of another series competing with it for your attention so it has to be a banger to keep the spotlight/not get forgotten in the mix of things

Yeah, more generic Extra Deck bosses that kinda drain the novelty out of decks. But hey, at least they're useful!

Since yall playing old games, hope yall play Duelists of the Roses. That game is goat. That and Over the Nexus and Reberse of Arcadia.👍👍

Play WC2010, WC2011 and Tag Force 5, they're all Edison-esque games with a ton of content and a great RPG feel, the Tag Force games have godlike presentation that hold up super well, absolutely demolishes something like Legacy of the Duelist which looks and feels like shovelware. Those games are peak Yugioh.

After Baronne got removed my Shinobirds became impossible to play going first and much weaker if I get interrupted in the middle of my combo, I guess I'll try something else finally. Melffy's look cute so I'll try them no clue what they do.

I've never been much of a binger, but I'm also not a huge fan of the traditional one a week model for shows either, I tend not to engage much with the social zeitgeist so I'm mostly content watching 2-3 eps of something a week and waiting till I've finished it to hear what others are saying about it, I know some shows are releasing in like 3 episode batches on streaming services recently and that's probably closest to what I'd want if I cared about keeping up with the social hubbub week to week, but if the choice is between dropping it all at once and doing it week to week then I'd prefer all at once so I can consume it at my own pace

Generic Extra Deck monsters being hit are fine, as more Decks can Special Summon spam nowadays. The only problem I have is they're not addressing the spam itself,

The reason why popular cards that are OP becoming cheap means it's getting ban is because the card is now in literally everyone's deck. It's price made it cross whatever threshold Konami says okay this card is a problem and now is in too many decks.

Pretty sure the old games were based off of the early concept of what yugioh was supposed to be like, I think Dream was what illusion is today (I could be wrong not 100%).

So on the Pokémon Go story, they didnt do the best job of importing the true shadow pokemon lore from the spin off games for GameCube. In those games you are the protagonist stealing shadow pokemon (remember the you cant catch another trainers pokemon logic from the core games), to purify them back to their natural state as in shadow form they cant grow and cannot emotionally bond with their trainer. That last part doesn’t really have an impact on Pokémon Go because the game there is just stockpile pokemon

I think master duel needs to add guilds maybe they could be academy’s or something

I think that it's too much of a normal thing for Konami to reprint a expensive card in a new set then ban it

Too grindy. I think you start with about 1100 points for your entire 40 card deck, average 300 atk monster is 16 to 25 deck capacity points. 500 is 45 to 60. 700 is about 72. You get 1 dp per duel win, 3 if you beat them for the first time. A vanilla monster with 800 atk and def cost about 82 to 90 or so deck capacity. Very fast and early npc duelists start summoning 900+ atk monsters. Also your life points do not rejuvenate after each duel, you have to travel to your home computer to reset your lp total. There's more than that, but that alone should paint a picture of how unnecessarily grindy reshef of destruction is.

@hamsandwich6685 i recently played through most of the early gba and DS games, and Reshef is one of my favorites. I personally didn't mind the grind. Yeah, it is very grindy, but maybe a modded version that addresses the life point heal issue and the slow deck level system might make it more tolerable for other people.

@@92EEM sure, i can understand how you enjoy that game. I liked sacred cards more, and the jump in grind from sacred cards to reshef was like jumping from the easy difficulty to extreme mode. I would like a step up from sacred cards, but a couple steps down from reshef in grind/difficulty curve. If the duelist dp drop rate was 10 the first duel, and 5 every subsequent duel, that already would help a lot and is not too far off from what it is. The most annoying thing is the start of every turn field check in duels. They could just ommit the animation of the cursor rapidly sliding around all of both fields and it would be better. The start of turn pause would also be annoying, but less than with that animation. I wanted to like reshef of destruction, but it burned me out at around the time when pegasus was revealed and i was non stop dueling this green goon guys on a gondala, and my lp would just get lower and lower. The game had potential but it asked a bit much of the player ultimately. The way cards worked was an upgrade though.

I know WotC really loves all these collabs. But this is literally why Universus exists (which is also really fun). They should let Magic be Magic or at least Magic adjacent like with the DnD stuff.

26:28 thats so odd, its power creep i get it but i have a hard time calling a archtype "bad" or " garbage " etc when it was once a tier 1- 0 deck. Its slow by todays standards sure but bad? Naw thats odd to me.

Regarding P.Bandai as Alec brought up; I hate, hate, HATE, P.bandai stuff, as they do not ship to Australia. If there is something I want that is P.bandai exclusive, my only option is through a reseller at whatever close to msrp price I can find... I don't know why they wont ship to Australia, and its not like it'd hurt them financially, as I'd still have to pay for the shipping costs anyway! Its infuriating that some companies just don't want to accept more money...

You don't need Trident, the deck pushes 20k damage without it. It's just overkill.

I’m butt hurt about baronne because mine was a CA booster pull. The first booster I bought after just getting back into YuGiOh last year after 20 years lol

People would be ok with Ads if they were not terrible. But of course youtube wants the awful Ads because that is the stuff that pushes people into subscriptions. They just don't get that there is a breaking point. May not lose everyone but people can only tolerate so much crap(no nice way to put it...) before they just get too frustrated and watch less and less...

So the problem with them merging TCG and OCG ban-lists is that it would eliminate their flimsy excuse for needing to print separate Asian-English cards for OCG use. Konami is well aware that western YuGiOh fans will buy both TCG and OCG products, not exactly doubling their revenue stream but certainly adding a healthy margin that otherwise wouldn't exist.

@@apsamplifierhonestly seems a good choice, I’m on the RDA deck so I don’t know what the other synchro players are on but when I match up against a fusion player it’s normally chimera or tear, branded got hit fairly hard. For XYZs (and most of what I’ve faced) seems to be Kashtira and Purrley. Interestingly relates to your discussion about not quitting to fast because it takes me some mental fortitude not to immediately quit when I see Kashtira Unicorn I have to be honest 😂

I think with releasing your whole season in one go, at this day and age, shows you didn't have faith in the show being good and just wanted to get it out there and move on, unless it's a money thing i.e it costs more to post episodes weekly vs just dropping the whole season I don't mind weekly episodes, but I hate having a 6 month hiatus, unless there's a good reason, it just derails the hype. I think companys should look into a hybrid of the two methods: drop 2 episodes a week, either back to back, or one middle of the week, one on the weekend (obviously depending on season length)

That would need to ban 50% of the card pool before I'd be happy with the game again. That 50% is not an exaggeration.

There's definitely A LOT of stuff that could be up for a ban, but at some point you just give up.

It's not even 5 years and people call Dogmatika an old and even terrible deck

As for quitting Yu-Gi-Oh fast, no Paul. You are not owed somebody's free/entertainment time. If you go to work from 9-5, come home through an hour of traffic, launch master duel and someone drops SE Ash when you have no interaction in hand, going next is the right choice to maximize your limited entertainment time before you have to go to sleep to wake up for work the next day. The difference between Yu-Gi-Oh and most multiplayer video games is that Yu-Gi-Oh has a larger luck component (what you draw, what your opponent draws) and has turns (preventing you from doing anything if you don't have interaction). If you are losing in COD, yes you can have a worse team and might have less skill, but you still have the agency to try to win and make different choices on the fly. That feeling just does not hold up in Yu-Gi-Oh because your choices are limited by what cards you have and what cards your opponent has.

@@apsamplifier For sure. I definitely get your perspective. Your opponent's board is a puzzle to solve and sometimes you fail to solve the puzzle. Sometimes the puzzle is unsolvable because you are missing pieces. Losses are a part of the game and people do need to be less mad about losing. I just wanted to defend the folks jumping out of game at frame 1 of an annoying card showing up on screen because some of them might have good reason to do so. Much love man!

​@@apsamplifier would def recommend trying out rescue-ace. it is my personal favorite. it's recursion is some of the best in the game. and it has access to both the fire and warrior domain, meaning that you have access to one of the best cardpools in the format. also you get to play a bunch of kaiju style cards.

At the end of the day we all make the game a little worse

Yeah, we did see just recently that Konami EU had to issue a statement about this very thing.

Quitting yugioh or taking breaks is definitely what some people should do. I have quit many times from the game(really just taking breaks) some from banlists or metagames other times for being burnt out or overwhelmed. And sometimes just to do somethi g else for a while. Its healthy and makes you appreciate the good things. With that being said i regret not Quitting during tear format. I hate that dog water deck and myself for playing it.

That robot is incredibly off-putting.

I’m the type of Yu-Gi-Oh! Player that isn’t gonna scoop because of a mistake or one card. I will only scoop if I’m in a position where it is impossible to win and I need to go to the next round. If not? I’m gonna make you earn your victory against me.
