Love these kinds of videos, I'd like to see more about Mattel and Hasbro regarding the way they operate and plan things 😃

Aaron Archer has briefly touched on this. With his time at Hasbro and at conventions interacting with Mattel staff, he said he was of the opinion that in his day, Mattel was far more money orientated, whereas Hasbro was more toy/IP orientated. Not sure this is the case now, he worked at Hasbro over 10 years ago, but Bill and Steve for WWE seem fairly balanced in their output, while Hasbro's output across the board feels unfocused. Like they make toys, but the effort goes into what are more commonly seen as "collectables". Their traditional demo toys feel crappy and like an obligation rather than a priority.

I’m stoked to see 3.75 Marvel figures again. I was the dude who loved all those 3.75 scale figures around 2006-2015.

Could you please do a video on how toy companies work with celebrities. Specifically LYNDA CARTER Wonder Woman figure. I’d love to hear your thoughts and insights on how her figure came to be.

Interesting video, Scott! Glad you’re back and still can’t believe how much you had to go through with that copyright clown dude.

Meanwhile at NECA: “Would our figures be more fragile if we put timed explosives inside them?”

The few NECA I have, I'm afraid to even take out the box for the most part. I think I've only ever opened two.

In general I have always noticed that Mattel figures have more articulation than Hasbro figures. On any scale

That's cool. I never thought about the differences in how Mattel and Hasbro have their action figure lines planned out. I appreciate the video, Scott! Have a good one!

I gotta say, having the toy of the little girl being attacked by two minimally articulated dinosaurs is genius. I totally would have purchased that when I was 7.

Hell yeah. TWO dinosaurs?! Way better than one dinosaur.

Hey Scott. Mattel are up to series 10 of their WWE Superstars line using the MOTU Origins buck. And they're not cross-over figures

Mattel does have some surprising action features. There is a jurrassic park truck out now that flips itself like a dino attacked it. And your not going to see that feature again for a while.

Whats it going to take to get a Legends style 1:12 line of Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon Universe? Being in the industry could you please talk to him Scott? 😅

Both companies do very similar approach I mean it is one universal thing applied to different toy lines. Of course there are exceptions and special features I'm surprised you didn't bring up Barbie. And for the most part the difference between Hasbro and Mattel is Hasbro works hard in making products that are fun and also attractive and also are not afraid to approach the adult collector section with quality products available on HasLab Mattel, is making everything as cheap as possible and as long as things are good enough it's okay to put up in the market. Especially in the early 2000s the Moto is "Gotta piss off the fans". And they still do that every year at Comic-Con

While I can understand an appeal for uniformity from both collector and "kid accumulates a bunch of random toys over time" perspectives, I cannot help but feel that Hasbro's uniformity can also lead to everything blending together in a boring manner. And I wonder how much uniformity really matters from the kid perspective, as I remember I had no issue with mixing MOTU and GI Joe as a kid, and I'd remember my grand-niece also had no issues mixing three or four vastly different lines.

It really does look that way. When Scott shows those slides, my eyes glaze over because they all look like the same figure. I remember my action figures as a kid and how none of them were the same scale, had the same number of accessories, or had the same amount of articulation. I did not care. A toy was a toy.

As someone who was also once an actual child - I too didn't care. A toy was a toy, like the previous commentor in this thread said.
