This was always playing on the radio when I met my beautiful American girlfriend in Indiana. Out driving in America together in her convertible Mustang, singing this at the top of our voices smokin som 'erb (not whilst driving!) and loving life. This was our song! 1 month before we were due to get married she was killed in a car crash near Chicago. Every time I hear this I remember her and the times we had and shed a tear for my 'Mustang Lady'. I miss you Beth love you forever baby. “If heaven calls - I'm coming too, just like you said - if you leave my life I,m better off dead”......yes.......😭😩

Whomever the song was made for you can tell he poured his soul into it. So it must have been someone he cared deeply for.
Anyone still listening to this in 2018?? Quality performance and gets me in the feels everytime. Well played Mr Ashcroft 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Jeez man, Ashcroft was on the top of his game at this gig, extremely special but the way he sang this, it was a special moment in itself... Don't know if i have heard anyone who exudes that much heart and soul.

Urban hymns is my favourite album ever. This song is just perfection wish they still made music like this
He might not have one of those sweet sounding voices and tones, but i believe there might just be a handful of singers who carry so much soul and emotion while they sing.

Can remember decorating my daughters room when this was played on radio 1, it broke my heart and helped me to understand that although you may not return in my lifetime I would see your face again my beloved heart 💜, my gorgeous brother Kie, miss your beautiful soul and crazy laugh so much still xxxx
"The Drug Don't Work" All this talk of getting old It's getting me down my love Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown This time I'm coming down And I hope you're thinking of me As you lay down on your side Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again But I know I'm on a losing streak 'Cause I passed down my old street And if you wanna show, then just let me know And I'll sing in your ear again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again 'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead All this talk of getting old It's getting me down my love Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown This time I'm coming down Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again 'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead But if you wanna show, just let me know And I'll sing in your ear again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But I know I'll see your face again Yeah, I know I'll see your face again Yeah, I know I'll see your face again Yeah, I know I'll see your face again, oh Lord Yeah, I know I'll see your face again, oh Lord I'm never going down, I'm never coming down No more, no more, no more, no more, no more I'm never coming down, I'm never going down No more, no more, no more, no more, no more [Repeat and Fade Out]

My #1 song of all time, and a great performance by The Verve.
The hottest and talented guy ever seen, after Freddie. Sadly I am too young to go to one of their performances. Lots of love from Rome.
Fucking totally, entirely, wholly, thoroughly, fully, utterly, absolutely, perfectly, unreservedly, unconditionally, altogether, downright genius
I saw the whole set but he sings this one with such conviction. Great performance
The best performance of what is imo the best song of all time . Incredible
Had the oppotunity to watch his performance a couple of weeks ago in Mexico, he's just amazing, beautiful voice.

I lost count of the number of times i seen the verve back in the day. I won't bore yous. Best/ worst time was when I coached it to wigan. Open air thing, beck supporting. Not sure who else. Anyway, got v drunk. Missed the coach home. Wandered about wigan, scarey place so walked away when pubs got out. any way next morn met a nice gal, showed me the way to a police station. \PHONED MY FOLS, BLAH BLAH. mADE IT HOME TO SHOWER FOR A 12 HOUR SHIFT. tHOSE WERE THE DAYS LOL
