Hey I grew up on the north shore and can vouch for the sandwich. Youll get smacked for even mentioning Arby's anywhere north of Boston. The places that sell them are 'Roast Beef and Seafood' joints where you can get fried haddock and clam chowda and for some reason are always run by over the top friendly Greek people. A couple places I remember are Tony's, Rizzo's, Mino's, Mike's, Nick's, Bill and Bobs, Giovanni's. Theyre all the real deal and they all do it right. When you order the super beef three way, Tony or Mike or Nick or whatever literally slice it on the spot. If you havent had one, theyre hard to describe. Its not a hot sandwich and its not a cold sandwich. Its like ordering a cheese steak in Philly but without all they hype

I didn’t really hit what people thought were the best, but the ones that were either “historic” or popular (amongst the masses, not really “the beefers”). Next time I’m out that way I’ll do another swing to the ones the die-hards recommend.

I've lived in Boston my whole life. outside the city limits, the north shore destroys the south shore on beefs. South shore has very little roast beef joints if any. Its a quintessential food up there. I live on the south side of the city so I gotta fight through hella traffic to go get a good beef. It's worth the trip. Glad I make regular visits up there so I can EAT! EDIT: Kelly's is well known but its middle of the road. Nick's in Salisbury is the OG. King's in Salem is right up there with it.

  • @TrippyFood

I included Kelly's for historical value because they were the place known for originating the North Shore beef. Growing up, I was never a fan or their roast beef - we always went for the clam plates. Over the years, though, the clam plate lacked quality and became outrageously priced.
