Coming to America! Also, when I got my 1989 Mercury Sable (after my first car was totaled) in 1999, it came with a Ford “audio systems demonstration tape”; “Heading for the Future” was the second song on it. The cassette had songs from all different genres; the other artists were Barbara Streisand (Somewhere), Tony Bennett (I Got Lost in Your Arms), Rosanne Cash (I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me), Willie Nelson (Living in the Promised Land), Steve Perry (Foolish Heart & Oh, Sherri), Kenny Loggins (Forever), Til’ Tuesday (Voices Carry), Bob James (Courtship), Grover Washington (The “Cosby Show” theme, Resthatherian), & John Williams (Olympic Fanfare & Theme).

My mom was a huge Neil Diamond fan and saw him in concert four times. She not only loved his music but talked about how sexy she thought he was to the point it made my step-dad a little jealous.😅 She passed from Alzheimer's in 2020 and every time I hear a Neil Diamond song, I think of her.

My mom loved him and she would melt when she heard him sing like something came over her. She use to say, “He can sing to me anytime”. I know what she meant and how she felt because I feel that feeling whenever I hear him sing. There’s just something captivating in his voice that really grabs you and not let go.

I have loved Neil Diamond since I was a teen, in the 60s. My walls were covered with posters. I wore out the Hot August Night album. I use Jonathan Livingston Seagull album to sooth headaches and fall asleep. I'll always love him!❤❤❤😊

My father played the guitar and sang since he was 9. I grew up hearing Orbison, DIamond and Presley NON STOP. Typical teen. If your parents like it you hate it...... In the early 90s my father fell into a coma and found out he was diabetic along with some very important organs shutting down. They brought him around within a day and were keeping him for a few nights to run more tests. He looks at me and says I need you to use these tickets. Ok.. Dad.. Will do. Whatever you want.... I now have 4 tickets to see a Neil Diamond's' Xmas concert...... The concert was THAT SAME NIGHT.. IN 6 HOURS........ Over the last few years my concerts consisted of Nine Inch Nails/Metallica/Guns n Roses/Slayer/Anthrax/Megadeath/Motley Crue/Scorpions/Rage Against the Machine/Jane's Addiction... You get the gist... Who the hell am I gonna get from my pool of friends to see a ND Xmass special in a few hours? 2 hours later I had 2 friends that said sure why not.. I couldn't convince anyone else to go.. One friend said he would go but couldn't as he was having dinner with his GF and parents.. His mistake.. We DIDN'T like this girl at all.. So over we went.. Knocked on the door. His GF answers. We need to talk to S real quick. Oh the look on her face. Door reopens. What do you guys want? GRAB HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The three of us wrestled and played football throughout HS.. He didn't. He didn't stand a chance and into the trunk he went.... 71 Ford LTD.. We once put 8 people in that same trunk..... I wish we could have seen his GFs reaction....(EX soon after that.. Sorry S. Not really) Halfway there we stopped and pulled him out of the trunk and told him he's going to a ND concert....... He wasn't happy but it was go to a show or go back into the trunk...... So at the show.. To say we were out of our element is the understatement of the century but whatever. We are here so lets make the most of it. Then something strange happened. Now I've heard my dad sing ND songs for as long as I can remember. While I never listened to them on my own it turned out I new every word in all of his songs.. Even stranger was my three friends knew most of his songs as well. Four 17 year olds singing and standing in place dancing right along with most of the songs. The people around us who were at LEAST twice our age LOVED US.. LOL Do this day it is still one of the top 10 best concerts I have have seen.. My father told that story for years as did my friends. My father died 2 weeks ago. He was a HUGE Elvis lover and he went out the same way. In the bathroom on the toilet. I happened be visiting when it happened and both my mom and I did CPR on him till the medics arrived and while we got and lost a pulse a few times as did the EMTs we later learned that what makes a person a person had left the building before we found him. As insanely emotional as CPR situations can be I couldn't help but point out. "You know mom of all the ways he could go I am pretty sure he would find going like Elvis a good one" She said "I was just thinking the same thing...." Ahh family Pretty sure he's playing guitar and back up vocals with Elvis right now....

He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother…. When you hear the very beginning of the piano chords then his voice singing, “The road is long”…. Listen to that and you’ll know what I mean. Also when he sings “Girl, you’ll be a woman soon” just singing those lyrics gets me. That voice!!!!

Oh, Neil! You have ALWAYS been hip with me (from the time I was 7 years old 'til now at 64 years old). My peers made fun of me for being such a die-hard Neil Diamond fan. I have always felt like I KNOW Neil; maybe because we're both kind of from the Island of Misfits. I'm very comfortable saying I'm from the Island of Misfits as I feel Neil is very comfortable saying he wasn't one of the "cool" kids. For not being one of the cool kids, he sure has had decades of great popularity. The likes of Neil Sedaka and Neil Young can't hold a candle to him. Diamond is a genuine, decent human being; not to mention having been very, very easy on the eyes. Neither Sedaka nor Young can say that. In fact, Neil Young was quite the low life (IMHO). I suspect Diamond has made way more money than Sedaka and Young put together. There is no singer/songwriter more talented than Neil Diamond. Did I say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Neil Diamond? Throughout my life, I have listened to his music, literally, for hours on end. It is so soothing in some pieces, and so invigorating in others. There was, in fact, a time I listened to absolutely nobody else's music, i.e., I only had Neil Diamond records and tapes; and as soon as a new one was released, I was out buying it with money I earned from babysitting. I wish Neil could live forever; or at least until my time on earth ends.

Neil Diamond sat next to me and Mr. Weiss’s American history class at Erasmus high school. I’m sure he doesn’t remember me and of course I remember him I used to tell people that he wrote sweet Caroline for me. Just joking.

I knew little or nothing about Neil Diamond except that he spent two years in juvenile prison for automobile theft and how later, music saved him from a life of prison and gang trouble. Well, I guess I was wrong. Where the heck did I get that from?
