I was 13 back in 1971. I had the biggest Crush on Neil Diamond. I'm 62 today and he still is "My Beautiful Crush." He is so gorgeous, but his music is the true soul of Neil Diamond. He has made me feel and taken me places only he could do. He is one of the best singer-songwriters of my lifetime. Thank You Mr. Diamond for the many years of entertainment you have blessed me with. God Bless You.

Neil Diamond's interviews, I've seen about half a dozen of them in the past several days, are most impressive. Diamond is a man with a brain. He comes across to me in his interviews as brilliant. I've listened to his music since the late 60's or early 70's. I had no idea he's a truly philosophical man. Well done by both Mr. Diamond and his interviewer! Thank you!

Excellent post. Besides a man with a brain, he is a man who is authentic and down to earth to the point of being humble, who has never let his fame cause him to act like he is above the public.

Strangely, I too have been watching several of his interviews recently. I was always a fan, ever since I first heard him when I was a teenager in '71. But, recently have rediscovered him when I heard of his Parkinson's diagnosis. His interview last year on CBS Sunday Morning was so real. He said he was scared. And when asked of what, he replied "of being found out. No one likes to be found out. I'm not some big star. I'm just me." He had me at that point. How real can a man get. No Neil, you ARE a big star and it's because you are just YOU. Thanks for filling our world with song. You're a once in a lifetime treasure.

Neil Diamond is a gift from God. His music is so real, so artistic, so full of meaning and feelings. I was still in high school when I heard his first song, Solitary Man. I was 19, sitting in a concert when he sang, he said it was for the first time 'I Am... I Said.' That song is the most powerful song! I felt the impact in every cell of my body and I couldn't believe that he knew exactly how I felt! I was lost, alone, and lonely, and that gorgeous man felt the same way! You KNEW it was a song written about himself, and yet, it was a song about me, too. I'll never forget that night. That song and his other music, affect me to this day, May 2, 2024. I'm 72 now. I feel his pain, his happiness. Whatever he writes and sings, I feel it. My favorite will always be 'I Am... I Said.' Thank you Neil Diamond, for understanding me and my lonely soul! 💎🌹❤️

I wasn't so impressed with the interviewer. What was with the "I think writers write to make themselves feel special" nonsense? As if there aren't a million reasons to write - it has to be to make yourself feel special? And, even though Neil (not very convincingly) agreed - he circled back to it (did you write to feel special in your family?) trying to make something out of nothing.. Sheesh!

Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes it frustrated me.They have me removed me from all the Neil Diamond Fan Clubs because I had this listed on their site.Never Apology of Neil Diamond ;-( Rich and Famous 1

Primarily Hot August Night, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Tap Root Manuscript, Love At The Greek, September Morn, Beautiful Noise. Have seen him many times in concert since 1979. He is an amazing talent! Elvis recorded a relatively unknown Neil.Diamond song "The Grass Don't Pay No Mind". It was so sensual and touching I knew the 1st time I heard it, that it was a Neil Diamond song!

Neil is amazing and was so sexy
I think the reason Neil had a difficult time writing for other singers was because he was destined to be both the songwriter AND the singer. And thank goodness he was. His music is absolutely the most captivating and beautiful music out there.

A very sexy and complex man. He handles these interviews so well.
A probing interview that shows me how philosophical Neil is. I've enjoyed his music since my childhood in the early '70s. He is an amazing singer and songwriter, a rarity in the music industry.
A poet's soul.
I read that Neil would write poems in High School for male classmates at their request. Their girlfriend loved them. There is poetry in Neil’s lyrics. The words are inspirational, introspective, passionate. ☺️👍💕
Thank you for sharing. I love him so much forever, forever and ever.
Very articulate and introspective. Reflected in the music he wrote, produced and sang. We are very blessed to have had him around all these years.
Neil Diamond is a National Treasure!
I really enjoyed this. Able to see what accounts for Neil's beautiful and touching songs. Either he's the world's greatest actor or was VERY sensitive and deeply moved by his environment growing up and still as an adult. I believe the latter.
I ♥️ to hear Neil explain how he writes his songs, what it means to him and how he feels about them. He is an introspective, spiritual and wonderful composer and singer-songwriter 🎼🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶💫

amazing he could smoke cigs and still sing great for many years...I have to assume he stopped a long time ago. Great artist...a true musical artist...not just a "singer"

Sheesh!

In time all good things shall prevail. The Universe knows GOODness. Thus, all shall be redeemed in time. So glad, SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOD~that Neil Diamond pursued his creative passion to write, then perform, which was our bonus also! 💎❤️

The art of songwriting is very scary. It extracts that personal toll he was talking about, and yet the fear of 'will anyone else like it' s always there. I have written sixteen songs. I haven't written any in years. Life gets in the way, and writing gets very difficult. Neil is very wonderful and genuine. Thanks for uploading this.
This was so inspiring; happy to subscribe🥰
ND: "..Solitary Man... Host: Are you a solitary man? ND: What does that have to do with anything? IMHO: People didn't want to only see Mr Diamond as a ("shut up and sing") performer. They're reaching out to touch his heart... That's wonderful! ND: "Being a song writer made me something." IMHO: Showed that Mr Diamond was "gifted" (blessed) . Thank you for sharing online. Blessings

I am a big Neil Diamond fan..i was about 16 years old and i got sick for a while and i strayed at my sisters apartment, she had a very smal record player and 1 LP music compilation, and a single by Neil Diamond,,side A was Sweet Caroline, side B was Brother's Salvation Show, i heard so many times i even memorized the lyrics..
He is a lot like me! He is a life saver! I am a painter! I understand everything he is saying! I was visual!
