As a fan, I never thought Jon wrote alone, Richie was in most interviews and he had the writing credits so that stay quiet surprised me. Always felt they were brothers, all of them. Tough love, disagreement, it's family. They need one another.

Very surprised to hear that Sambora was told to be quiet about his contributions and songwriting. Not sure why. Its well-known that the hits on their two biggest albums "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey" were written by Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi, working together in collaboration with Desmond Child. On "New Jersey" Diane Warren and Holly Knight popped in for a song or two, but the core was always Sambora-Bon Jovi. Did Jon not want anyone to know this or something? Weird.

  • @pacochuquiure5459

that is nonsense my friend. Richie's credits are listed on all the albums, at least on the classic ones. From Slippery When Wet onwards he co-wrote many of the songs, including the hits. In fact, Slippery When Wet and New Jersey are the two records where Richie co-wrote almost all of the songs along with Jon and other collaborators. For example, in Slippery the only song wrote alone by Jon is "Wild in the Streets", and in New Jersey is "Living in Sin". But again all of this is credited and has been since day one on all the albums (lp's, cassettes, cd's). What Richie is saying is at least erratic.

I sent to school with John Bon Jovi's little brother Tony. We were listening to Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. I saw him Jon one time at Giants Stadium in 1989 because my GF wanted me to go. Why when we weren't into him but we went anyway thinking about tailgating. I also brought my buddy and he had a bottle of Rumple Minez. She only had tickets for her and her little brother. After they left we thought it would be a huge party. It wasn't and we grew bored. We met two record executives from NYC who were late in the parking lot. They were asking for a beer. We had a cooler full of bud nips and we got along really good. By now everyone was watching Billy Squire and the lot pretty empty. We had a few brews and and smoked a couple of joint's. The one girl says give them those passes. She's like what, no way. The other girl says they'll be waseted otherwise. They said one thing, behave ourselves. They had them but 2 backed out. they gave us two all access passes. They said don't make any trouble lol. We ended up seeing Tony and Duane Burlew. Tony was really cool and he liked heavy music like Savatage and Accept. The whole NWOBHM scene. He was also part of our click of metal heads in high school. We'd smoke bones before class. Last I heard he's a music executive in LA.

It’s almost impossible to know, what it’s like to simultaneously be that wealthy and famous, while having to be chained, to multiyear tour schedules, forcing you to live on a bus and in a hotel and on a plane, month after month, while the rest of the people in your life experience milestones you don’t get to be a part of. How can we know what that’s like, it’s so unique of a position, we can’t really know. I only had the tour three weeks a year with the military, and for many reasons, that was grueling and difficult, I can’t even imagine what it was like to tour with a world famous rock band for two years. The fact that he is still alive and trying to do the best with his life, is very impressive to me. I will never forget the MTV awards concert, the one where him and John played several songs acoustically, sparking the entire unplugged movement. What an influence and legacy. Ritchie I hope you’re happy wherever you are, what a career! Cheers everyone

Because Orianthi has no business being mentioned in a story that started before she was born and is about Richie, is about Jon and is about the history of the band Bon Jovi. I'm shocked every time I read such comments...I've been a fan of this band since late 1989. It was Jon's voice, his charisma and his enthusiasm that made this band great! And since then there have always been arguments with Richie because he felt left behind. He could never really suppress his envy. And there were times and interviews in which he behaved so badly that I would have liked to switch off the TV...anyone who is familiar with the band also knows that Jon already had problems with his voice in the 80s and even had to take medication for it. Just as a hint to all critics: When they wrote songs together, it was always Jon who wrote the lyrics and Richie wrote the melodies, which were often so exhausting and extremely high to sing...and from one day to another he had left the band, during a tour. That was totally selfish and ignorant. And since than he had always tried to throw dirt on Jon in interviews. And there is so much more...

That's exactly how I see it! 👍 Richie may be a good musician, but on that one special day he wasn't a good friend! Suddenly, during a tour, he abandon the others. And by the he way, everybody always knew Richie AND Jon wrote the songs. Why does he talk so much nonsense? I can't comprehend that!? Jon never ever said a single bad word about Richie! I think, Bon Jovi with Phil X is great! And Richie made his revision the day he left...
