In a hypothetical Stellaris 2 where the game takes place across an entire galaxy group it would be interesting to create an intergalactic highway only to then find a galaxy where the engine was fired. Also considering you win the game once you fire the engine I think that's an implication that, Yes they do ascend.

What happens to an empire who "ascends" probably varies. Given the shroud and it's nature it is unlikely that any mechanical being ever could, but a psionic could absolutely ascend.

i like to think of the machine and robot expansion, which adds its own form of interface with the shroud and machines called the abyss

I think this is the Singularity the Contingency was made for. Also the shroud entities did respond by sending the Unbidden and the entities.

​@@BrewmasterDoneganthe Contingency uses the Ghost signal as a virus to corrupt sentient robots. Lesser robots arent complex enough to hear the ghost signal. The Contingency can't do anything except send out the ghost signal, until infected AI can manually activate the Contingency. The Contingency purpose isn't specifically related to AI it's just something they can use.

I would love it if you could tell the story of the quantum architect from the slingshot to the stars origin dig site. Such a well written story by far my favourite archaeology site in game.

These Star-Eaters of the Stellaris Nemesis Crisis would be a pretty threatening ships in the Warhammer 40k setting and the Aetherophasic Engine would be a galaxy killing threat to all including the forces of Chaos. As much as Chaos want the galaxy to be a enduring hell to be everlasting in their wicked lawless minds and designs the Aetherophasic Engine would destroy absolutely everything in the galaxy resulting in their deaths while some Shroud entity who is beyond their Warp dominion's reach ends the cycle of Warhammer 40k for good this time.

The galaxy only exists as it does because they can’t be bothered to clean the place up, but of a threat shows up that’s severe enough to maybe threaten their hold, they’ll snap together quick as a whistle and make the Great Crusade look like a birthday party by comparison

I think the Prethoryn Scourge escaped from a galaxy where the Aetherophasic Engine was successfully activated and that's how it vanished.

Expanding on @steffanyschwartz7801 idea, my theory is that the Unbidden are empires from other galaxies that managed to ascend. They learned to coexist at first, but now are divided as more and more aspire to tap into their power. Despite infighting they all agree on one thing - destroying the galaxy before they will have to share the potential of the Shroud with yet another beings.

My theory for what happened is that this was the same empire that made a pact with the End of the Cycle. They sought unfathomable power to bring about the end, the the shroud god granted them that, but when it realized what the empire was doing, that it would bring the end of its reality as well, it vowed to bring their end instead. So I think that the engine would have let them ascend, but the End stopped them, because right before the engine was fired, it came to collect its due. That would explain where the designs for the Star Eaters and the Engine came from (my theory being that The End gave them the schematics for the engine knowing that it could stop them right before they fired it), and I also think it makes sense mechanically, because the only case where you'd ever want to do the End pact is if you can end the game with the Aetherophasic Engine before the 50 year time is up.

from personally experience its always the gestalts who take that perk despite it being more implied to be a psionic exclusive perk

Gestalt robots see the shroud as a way to bypass the calculation limitations of the physical realm. Not sure on hives though

This is like if the covenant found the halo rings, but stellaris style

This makes me think of how in my game the XT-489, which was controlled by an AI as I played space Romans managed to become the crisis and right when they finished the crisis situation, I declared them a crisis and waged a total war on them. I of course had to use console commands to get rid of some border gore and because the fallen empires got involved with them. But hey, at least I got to become galactic emperor out of it.

Yes just rip open the shroud and make sure to make it permanent, what can go wrong? At least four to Five things best shared with no one.

Given that star eater just crack stars and create black hole to harvest materials, I doubt that the mega structure Engine is any different in principle. In other words, the engine is merely a device that harvest the galaxy for material, and the empire that chose its path did so not knowing they were deceived. I will speculate that the original creator of the Engine are the elusive Hunter we heard about, setting up traps and hunting for galaxies to consume.

@@schwingedeshaehers I think this crisis aim to be more permanent, though the same can be said of any crisis. Perhaps the destruction of all stars in the galaxy eventually lead to their recreation. We did see the infinity machine showing us a different dimension created from black hole, so a vast number of them, eventually, some matter will leak back through? A true cycle of destruction and creation. Though if you are talking about the Shroud End of Cycle entity, I do not think they are directly related

There are 3 levels of the shriud i think. (most mods go with this ststem.) Surface, middle, and deep. Psionically ascending empires interface with the surface shroud, eith a very rare chance to get End of the Cycle which is assumed to be something from the middle shroud. A throry is that a crisis empire is trying to bore through the shallow shroud into the medium, with the plans on how to do this given by a deep shroud entity. Or the empire is trying to merge with the shallow shroud and the end of the cycle gave them the plans. Either eay it seems thst many think all of this is just a gosl for a shroud entity to have a massive feast on those who conplete this path.

I'm unsure if this is what the Contingency was made for. It's very well known that the Contingency was created to stop a Class-30 Singularity, which has the capacity to destroy the fabric of the entire universe I think that the Engine is close, but I think it's not close enough if it only destroys a single Galaxy It's heavily implied that this galaxy is not the only one that the Contingency has been placed in. "Here and Elsewhere" to me sounds less to me like them describing their central processing and their sterilization hubs, but more like, they exist in this galaxy and in others. It's actually kinda scary to have the possibility that the Class-30 singularity could be the Engine but in a much stronger form, if I'm on the right track.

It would be interested to know how this civilizations fare in the face of shroud ( and it's many entites) Perhaps they succeed and change the very fabric of the galaxy to make it hospitable again ( for unknown reasons).

This is so good, praise the algorithm for suggesting your channel, I even started playing since the last time, but after an hour I exited the game and searched for an auto pause mod, since everything is new for me and the in game auto pause only pause some events, that was really upsetting me

Ah yeah if you're new the event spam can be intense. You can choose what you wish to be notified about in the options somewhere and i'd suggest just playing at a normal speed and hitting pause as often as you like until you're used to the game :) Best of luck! Sounds to me like you classify yourself as the lesser of two evils. Every scholarly research points to the true crisis being the enabled xeno compatibility option.

I would like the idea an apex civilization that successfully ascends to a higher realm would be at the literal bottom of that new realm

Sometimes my audio gets all fucked up, and it gives my audio aa very "static" ish sound to it, and, tbh, somehow, it enhances your videos making them really sound like it's a worn down recording hundreds of thousands of years in the future

I still want a wY to set some fleets in a system then have those as a start with no colonies in a random galaxy. You might be a hostile invader or a peaceful explorer. Huh i can dream. Everytime i play this crisis the gane crashes when the engine fires.

I think death is the result. If you look at everything that comes out of going down this road, it all points to a manifestation of hardcore nihilism in the species themselves.

I think that's a strong observation, and that it's an important critical reading of the text. The civilization feels one way about itself, but it's clearly an intensely narcissistic feeling, perhaps delusional. We could argue that these policies are that of a society utterly devoted and indoctrinated into a narcissistic dearh cult that says "we will die, but we are the world, thus if we die the world dies with us." The engine can be the material manifestation of this psychotic worldview instead, where the crowning achievement of the death cult is ultimate death.

Playing crisis game right now. I was lucky and the war in heaven struk as I was getting ready for the crisis path. A third of the galaxy is killing themselves, I control another third and the last third is a actually facing me. I think it really depends.

When they fire the engine they Become As Gods. BECOME AS GODS! YOU AS WELL SHALL BECOME AS GODS!

Is it also possible that you will cover Ancient Crates of Technology in the future?

A thing from another more powerful dimension convince these fools to blow themselves up in the promise and hope they would reach Ascension and combine t The two fields together... the reason there was so much more "activity" in the shroud was due to the beings tapping in to see if and when these fools would really blow themselves up😂😂 I know they were taking bets on this possibly one time event.😅

You are a very good narrator, but, really, this BtC is the dumbest most poorly written piece of lore they ever wrote. When you compare it to the Horizon Signal, the BtC lore look like a half arsed story written by a not very implicated 5 yo child.
