That's American education for you. The vast majority of fighting and probably 80% of casualties were either in Canada or in America near the border like New York and Michigan. The thing is the majority of battles and campaigns were American disasters and so glossed over.

2:42 What he forgot to add was that the over 50,000 militia from New York, MA and the other New England states decided that they were a defensive force and would not cross the St Laurance and would not send back the boats to pick up the regular army soldiers who were in Canada (they also did not send the ammunition). If they had decided to invade there would be no Canada.

I like how (as a canadian) Americans are oblivious to this war. Not only have canadians never lost one but we were the first (and technically only) country to give them a taste of defeat. It's like America has swept this one "under the rug" when it comes to common knowledge or education taught. Another reason i love being Canadian ( no offense u.s). It's give n take who's really better these days. Our biggest shame was avro arrow... America didn't like that we got so far ahead of them in aero technology

Taste of defeat? How? You lost your native allies, ended impressment. And two Canada wasn’t even a country. We know about the war our national anthem is about the war thing is we just have more history our civil war we lost more men KIA than any war fought before it combined. You also lost the Russian civil war (1919-1924). And Avro are you serious? You made one jet the USA was making many which Canada was buying you couldn’t afford the Avro why it never went into production. If that’s Canadian education that in 100% glad I was educated in the USA.

Wrong, brain-dead Anthony. Technically, and in every other sense of speaking, this was not a war between US and Canada. It was a war between US and Britain. Get a dictionary and learn the difference between a battle and a war. The vast majority of fighting in Canada was done by the British. You cannot count a few lame skirmishes by Canadians, heavily assisted by the British, as a war between the US and Canada. Some Mohawks also helped the British. Is that now a war between the US and Mohawk nation? Canadians act like the war of 1812 was a war purely fought between the US and Canada that Canadians won. Wrong. Had it been a war with Canada with the intent to conquer it, (sending the entire American military, rather than a very small portion) America would have obviously won since America beat the British (twice) and there is no way Canada could have beaten the British. Although America did not take over Canada (which was only pursued as leverage in negotiation, not the desire to actually keep Canada, and for that reason had only a very small percentage of American forces present), America won the war of 1812, defeating the British. Since Canada was allied with Britain, this is a war the Canadians lost too, but it was not their war - it was Britain's war. So again, to say there was a war between the US and Canada is asinine. To claim Canada won a war against America is laudable. The truth is America defeated both the British and the Canadians in the war of 1812. America just simply did not take over Canada to use as negotiation. This was never a major objective, but a half-assed attempt while more important matters (like winning the war) were pursued. Canadians claim to have won the war of 1812. Wrong. Canadians lost the war of 1812. Americans won. Stop twisting history to appeal to your lame narrative and pathetic egos.
