Director George Miller is a fascinating figure in the history of cinema. From the mayhem and destruction in the world of Mad Max to the world of talking pigs and dancing penguins, it has been an incredibly eclectic career, continuing on with the film Furiosa: a Mad max story.
But what is it that makes this director such an intriguing fixture in cinema? And through his stunning visual, chaotic action sequences, and dark sensibilities, what message is he trying to convey to audiences?

    Lorenzo's Oil is actually a really important movie to my family because my youngest son has the disease depicted in it, ALD. The good news is that treatment has improved exponentially since that movie came out to where boys with ALD, if treated soon enough, have a real chance at a normal life.

    The actresses who played the Immortan Joe's wives deserves so much appreciation for their acting. Given that the majority of them were models and Mad Max Fury Road were their big break in the film industry (especially the woman who played Cheedo, Fury Road was her film debut), they did such a phenomenal job. So happy that George Miller didn't used them just for a pretty face image, he actually gave them cool characters to work with. I just love how random Miller's casting choices often are 😅

    George miller is crazy- but all geniuses are. Mad max 1+2 and fury road are absolutely amazing. Even his failures are grand. But mad max one and road warrior in particular, are INCREDIBLE especially for the time they were made; the stunts alone are insane.

    Second or third row in the front at the drive inn movie, just pass the playground (wife said WE ARE BRINGING THE KIDS)as the commercials were starting so was the orange barrel. With the kids in their pj's and pillows and blankets we all settled in to what was going to be a unique journey. While the wife hid her eyes behind her hands the kids fell asleep because it was way pass their bedtime and I just sat there amazed at what I was watching. As I remember it was about midnight before the movie was over (The first one was something silly about cowboys and dinosaurs) (Double Feature) Anyway, the movie has been imprinted into memory because George Miller is a Genius. Just for anyone who read this and did not understand "Orange Barrel" was at the time the go to hit of acid

    Babe still has the best talking animal effect. No other movie has topped it. The "live action" Lion King cost like $200 million to make and the talking animals in it look soulless and emotionless compared to Babe.

    Great video. Miller is a genius filmmaker. Not many can claim to essentially invent an entire genre. Many conclude Furiosa would have worked better creatively if Miller decided to continue with Mad Max as the protagonist. I share the opinion that Mad Max always worked with forward momentum not backstory, and core fans wanted to see Mad Max, not being shoved Furiosa's backstory. Creatively that didn't work for many fans and it was a reason the film underperformed.

    Hmmmm.... this video is missing any mention of George Miller's contribution to The Twilight Zone Movie (1983). Most reviews of it cite his segment to be the best of the 4. And those of us who are interested in "genre" films like horror we champion it. Kinda a big flaw in otherwise a well-researched biography video. Oh and Mad Max Beyond THunderdome wasn't solely directed by Miller---and it may show in the end work. Simple adjustments to this video's narrative would make it more...excellent..

  • @FrameVoyager

    We thought about talking through the "Twilight Zone film" but since it was kind of a multi director segment film and the controversy around the death of the actor and children we are working on for another video, decided to not delve into that section. I meant to mention it at least in the video, but forgot to add that in. My bad!

  • @iamkubrick
    @iamkubrick25 күн бұрын

    Why didn’t you go into his experience with the Twilight Zone movie? His segment is considered its only saving grace. What happened in that film and his business partner also dying in a helicopter crash the same year had a massive impact on him. With his name ( along with Spielberg ) also being dragged through legal and newspaper scrutiny.

    no matter how old i get i will always think that a little female nudity can go a long way at the box office, not porn but a there is always room for some beautiful women. Watch Reindeer Games with Charlize Theron, good movie but Charlize naked in the pool made it a GREAT MOVIE!
