If HorrorBabble ever shuts down, I have a friend who could help with the grief. Just head down these stairs and ask for Warren.

Sorry to tell you, but a version of you exists in a parallel universe in which there's no HorrorBabble. Warren is not dead there.

M.R. James is my favorite "quiet" horror writer. His work is all about mood and atmosphere, rather than graphic, gratuitous violence.

Help me, O LORD my God; save me in accordance with your love. Let them know that it is your hand, that you, O LORD, have done it. They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice. My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak. Psalm 109 Thanks for som fabulous M.R. James. 😊

I am obsessed with the music that plays when the story ends. It's so chill. I genuinely want to listen to it on loop. I could definitely get at least half an hour out of it. I am really going to need you all to release it lol.

Oooh! Oooh! Is this the prayer book with "Oh Lord Thread Lightly on My Unmentionables" and "The Hedgehog Can Never Be Bothered"? I love that one. It is a testament to your diligent searching for rarities that you are only just now getting to MR James' best. Must be coming up on 400 narrations soon. Thank you!

Great story and narration! Oh, this is a lovely one! These stories make me want to take a step back in time, to a simpler age (in some ways). These old stories set the scene and describe the environment in such a fascinating manner. This is a great story. Thanks!
