My husband and four year old just did a vegan chicken nugget taste test and they did some of the same ones as you tried. I tasted the daring ones and almost spit it out. The nuggs ones weren’t good either. The only ones I liked was the impossible ones.

I feel like you need a graph to place them. Where one axis is how much it tastes like meat and the other is how good it tastes, so you can show if something tastes good, but maybe doesn't taste like meat and vice versa

Definitely a thing. For some people it's so important for things to taste like what they're imitating. For me who hasn't eaten chicken in decades I just want them to taste good. Very few do both.

I was going to comment, those Dino nuggets sound like they taste exactly the same as the meat ones, which are horrible anyway. The brand makes terrible products. I just want a quality, tasty product!! I really enjoyed the vegan Mac n cheese tasting, this was super fun too, thanks!

Idea: you also rank them up against a homemade one

Me too! I like them both wayyyyy better than the 2 Morning star and Gardeins. The ultimate chicken strips are the worst IMO.

Raised & rooted being like "soy free... except for soybean oil" is like someone being like "vegan...except for some cheese" lol

They can legally label it as soy free since soybean oil doesn’t contain the protein from soy (which is what people with soy allergy are allergic to). People with soy allergies can typically consume foods that contain soybean oil

Love your ranking videos! Just a suggestion: you could rank the items even within each tier! For example, within the B tier, if Boca is better than Incogmeato, then Boca can be ahead of it. This adds to the ranking fun! I notice you just rank them into their tier in order of when you taste them. :)

Jack and Annie's are the best! She makes my favorite nuggz, meatballs and breakfast sausage patties. My go to breakfast sammy is a just egg patty, the J&A sausage and melted Miyoko's cheddar slices. So good.

I do love the Impossible nuggets since my child's favorite stopped being made. You may want to try the Atlas Monroe chik'n tenders. They are a small black-owned business in California and they are not cheap, but they ship nationwide and they are delicious.

Great video ♥! Here, in Argentina, vegan products are starting to slowly expand their offer. I´m really not sure that I'd like the Bezos' products to go global, but you've really piqued my couriosity with the burgers and now the nuggets!

Love these videos despite not being vegan and you have inspired me to add more vegan products to my ~rotache~! Also, I low key think you have an excellent singing voice and should explore this talent???

I'm fairly sure I can't get a hold of any of these nugs but we do have a couple awesome nuggie brands over here in Switzerland as well!

Just tried the Daring nuggs and they are very good! I would recommend serving them with something like ketchup, since we tried with a ranch-y sauce, which gave it like fish-stick-and-tartar-sauce vibes lol

I had the Gardein tonight with Buffalo sauce they are pretty good! Definitely looking forward to trying 365 and the daring!

I got the gardien fillets at target yesterday and so came to re-watch this ranking video.

I'm a huuuuuge Aldi fan, and they have a FANTASTIC vegan chickenless tender from their "Earth Grown" line that seems to be a consistent item at my store. Super recommend them, they're always stocked in my freezer!! And pretty cheap too, $3.19 at my store for the box of about 9ish tenders total. Enjoy!

I'm a non vegan, but have been trying a few vegan products here and there. I recently tried the impossible nuggets and as far as frozen nuggets go, it tasted no different to me then an actual chicken nugget. Before I even cooked them the smell reminded me of the oncor brand chicken patty. I also tried the impossible meatballs. They're not amazing but still tasted good. My family has tried many brands of fresh or frozen actual meatballs, homemade recipes and the impossible meatballs tasted the better than all of them.

I love the Lightlife chicken tenders. My non-vegetarian friends couldn’t even tell the difference.

Nooooooo! The raised and rooted are amazing! I’ve never had the spicy ones but the original are the best nuggets I’ve ever had. They remind us of McDonald’s nuggets. Try them!

Merle’s initial reaction usually communicates the opposite of what she will rate an item. If she’s chewing somberly… it’s great. If she’s dancing a little in her seat… it’s meh at best 😁

Daring is def by far the best. Their products are amazing. Also, Rasied & Rooted non spicy chic nuggs are great cooked in an air fryer dipped in a sriracha mayo dipping sauce. Nuggs definitely disappoint and are not worth the hype. I was excited to try them but after spending $7.99 on Nuggs I would rather eat the Dino nuggs lol love the video Merle

morningstar and the morning star incogmeato and WF are my fav. I like them super crunchy and thick breading.

As a german my faves are "Rügenwalder" and "the vegetatian butcher". Not a vegan but whenever I have Burger King I'll go for the vegan nuggets and the vegan long chicken sandwich😊

i LOVE the Gardein Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It is one of my go to easy meals at least once every week for when I don't feel like cooking or don't have too much time to cook.

Love Morning Star but it's a Kellogg's company so I gotta hold off on them.

Daring's products are awesome. Their Cajun pieces are really amazing...great for salads or in wraps.

I love the dino nuggies! I eat them more than my kids 😅 I do not like daring, Buffalo nuggs from morning star are underrated!

this is the first time I have ever disagreed with Merle ;____; ! chicken nuggets generally aren't seasoned like KFC fried chicken with 11 herbs and spices. chicken nuggets are supposed to taste pretty plain and basic because generally they are geared towards kids. that being said, I do enjoy vegan nuggets as a vegetarian adult, but i think their purpose is mild "chicken" flavor, crispy outside, and to be enjoyed with delicious dipping sauces! Personally impossible nuggets are my #1. when I first tried them I actually cried lol

I LOVE the incogmeato and beyond ultimate tenders. For some reason the tenders are better. I love nuggs too, they give very much McDonald’s for me. I like the Dino ones for my kids because they’re definitely the most healthy lol. You’ve motivated me to try the daring brand though!

I buy the regular Gardein brand tenders, because you can get them in the giant family size bags at super markets. They're decently priced and I love them. The only processed alternative I eat regularly

Thanks for the reviews. I agree: 365 is the nug, surprisingly. Haven't had Dare yet, but looking forward to it. Nuggs was very hyped, and I expected greatness, but to me, it tastes too much of fake grill flavor, much like Alpha. I like the coating and seasoning of Gardein Ultimate, but the chick has a weird taste and consistency like old Gardein. Good amount in the bag, though.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned them, but I love Jack & Annie’s nuggets too, abcs they are a gluten free option. I also love Jack & Annie’s maple sausage kinks too. Yum!! I’ve served them to non vegans and they’ve enjoyed them. 😋

Nuggs (spicy) ones, Daring and Impossible nuggets are my top fav!🤤🤤 The serving oh well I empty the bag🤣

I LOVE the impossible nuggets....but in the air fryer! they get crispy and are so good! I use them to make "chicken" sliders. THe impossible meatballs in the air fryer- OMG! sooooo good! I made meatball subs with them last night. My husband even said it was the best meatball sandwich he's had!

Why, what was it about them?

I buy the 365 "chicken" patties at a local discount grocery store for $2 for 4 patties. They are good! I imagine the nuggets and patties are pretty similar. and speaking of waste: please consider buying some silicone mats for baking instead of aluminum foil. Love your content, thanks Merle!

Imposible are my favorite BUT i always add seasoning to them-- I do a cajun and some sort of garlic salt. Helps a lot

I know seaweed is tried and true, but have you thought of trying toon (beef and onion) leaf, oyster leaf, or fish leaf to flavor meet inspired recipes? Not really related to nuggies, but just wondering:)

I really like a Wegman based brand vegan chicken nuggets, they air fry really well too.

I like the morning star nuggets. They're pretty cheap, I like to eat them with some alfredo lentil pasta and it goes well. However I usually eat their buffalo chicken "wings". Those I actually consider nuggets, they're just shaped in a wing shape. I eat those plain, other flavors of those aren't so good. BBQ was ok.

The impossible nuggets had me questioning life. I honestly believed I was eating chicken. 365 is the underdog store brand that is a win simply on the price point.

With the Kellogg strike going on, I would recommend leaving the MorningStar nuggets out of your shopping cart as MorningStar and Gardenburger brands are owned by Kellogg. Please and thank you ❤️.

They are delicious; I love the mycoprotein. But their products are not vegan because they have dairy and egg!

The Morning Star buffalo wings are so good!! You should try them too.

Morning star back in the day was the jam.it was great,for what it was.its non comparable to today's other vegan products but it did have its time to shine

Veganism is 100% about animals actually. You should still try to be more ethical in all aspects but that has nothing to do with veganism.

Thanks for this vid. One thing that will stop me from trying something is ingredients. If they have: MSG, canola oil or high fructose corn syrup. The only nugget I like is Impossible. I actually LOVE it. I have tried a few and they were nasty AF 1) mushy 2) weird taste and mouth feel. Impossible is the perfect blend IMHO.

Merle! Just discovered your channel and I've been binging on it. Love your delivery (funny and serious) and appreciate your topics. One grumble, as a lazy vegan my first criteria is always "Is it microwavable?" and when you microwave it is it even remotely edible. Nuggs, for example, have NO microwave directions. Alpha has fairly wide main stream supermarket distribution and they're decent. Also, I know you were going for nuggets, not tenders, but the Gardein Seven Grain tenders are pretty good. They are NOT microwavable. I also enjoyed the KFC nuggets. Can't lie ... I'm really looking forward to Panda Express "Beyond The Original Orange Chicken." Wow.
