The lug nut method to install studs is perfectly fine as long as you dont damage threads, the studs are pre stretched from the factory. Just dont exceed the torque of the lug nuts.

A few things you could maybe do in the future. When welding close to something like that little U-joint, wrap a wet rag around it, helps keeps some heat off the joint. Also when pouting with a gallon jug, turn it flat, it helps keep it from surge splashing. Also, a funnel is your friend! Wondering why it doesn't have a "Z" bar type drag link to make the link more parallel? If that Jeep had any death wobble, it's now gone. The steering assist kinda acts like a Steering dampener on steroids! And yes, really helps to turn the Jeep in tough places.

Hey Tom, just a suggestion, when you build all those brackets round off the sharp c I rners and cut edges. Your hands and fingers will appreciate not having all those sharp edges when you are working in tight spaces plus it just looks more professional.

  • @leospitz6541

    Ай бұрын

He was deburring the edges and removing any ragged bits but I am talking about rounding over any corners that did not need to remain at 90 degrees. A good example would be the reservoir mount he built. The piece of angle coming out from the fender that the tank fastened too had a one end that stuck out into the engine bay that was a sharp 90 deg. and looked like it was perfect for snagging your arm or hand any time you had to work on any part below it. I have ripped myself up too many times trying to work around stuff like that to want to see it happen to anyone else.

It took me years to realize that hoarding is not actually a good thing. My hoarders stash is an airplane hangar full of engines, transmissions steering gear springs heads mechanical treasures and nonsence. What I have found is the stash worries my kids because when I tip; over they have to figure out why I saved all this junk! That is gives me a laugh, My pile is now priceless as everything I have will cause them to wonder how long I was crazy! That pile of parts you chopped up to make a throw away temporary fixjust equaled several hours of work that probably frustrated you because of it's temporary nature. Dissatisfied you because you knew the correct way was the best way. I have learned that anything that does not fit your standards is not worth doing in the first place. Not one part of a job finished is worth risking injury or damage while being used, but you know that! Great content keep it up.

Trimming the claws on Matt's hammer - it was in one of Tom Tom's first videos. Installing lug bolts - we always pulled them in with a washer and lug nut, but we used a torque wrench.
