The "Ultimate" Sports Fighting Game? - Windjammers
Ойындар
Windjammers is a fast-paced, competitive multiplayer game initially developed by Data East with origins tracing back to the 90's arcade era and a community that persists to this day.
Featuring two players facing off on a court, the goal is to accumulate points by sending the discus into the opponent's goal zone by any means necessary. From basic throws to flashy special moves, the game is simple to pick up for newcomers while also rewarding for veterans thanks to its high skill ceiling.
Despite its age, Windjammers has a dedicated competitive community that has kept the spirit of the game alive. With major milestones having been hit from being a part of EVO to having a sequel on the way in the form of Windjammers 2, this is the story of the world of Windjammers esports.

@@davidf2244 Being the champion is like being a big name hollywood actor in a lead role, compared to other wrestlers that play more minor roles. They are going to get a lot of screen time and be a big deal so they need to be good at what they do. In that sense, yes it is based on skill.

That 2018 EVO set was epic. More hype than a lot of the matches that night.
A fun fact about the EVO 2018 windjammers tournament was that Franke put a bounty on whomever knocked Xavier Woods out of the tournament, and the first one to play him was... me. This was before I knew anything about the game, and had only played first played it the night before. At evo 2019 I made it to 33rd though.

In my local retro-con(Retro Zaragoza in Spain, cancelled this year due to you know what) they usually do a local Windjammers tournament since the first edition, in fact, they also usually bring a Windjammers arcade machine and I do have played it with a couple of friends and we always end up stuck playing a couple of games between us. Also, I did hear about the PS4/PS Vita version when it launched but I didn't tried the game until the first edition of this local retro-con.

This video got my competitive fire boiling. It may be time to be one of those "out of the wood work types"
I wish you'd take a look at the 1995 DOS game called Descent. It has an active multiplayer community, has combat that sort of plays like a fighting game (it's hard to describe), and has a couple of players that have reached an incredibly high level of skill in it. Otherwise, thanks for these interesting videos. I've never heard of Windjammers before but it looks pretty neat, sorta like Lethal League.
I'm definitely going to check it out!
My friend just told me about this game at his local arcade bar. It sounded awesome so I look it up on YT, and of course, lo and behold, Akshon has covered it.
Not sure what wait is longer. The wait for Windjammers 2 or KH3.
