The ultimate (RC-505 killer) audio setup for Ableton LIVE (PRO looper secrets exposed)

Ойын-сауық

I expose some of the trade secrets that artists like myself use to make Ableton do what modern loop rigs do, and more!

Thank you very much for sharing this, it's very useful and I've not seen a similar configuration elsewhere... I have just started with looping and have been running into somme of the quirks and limitations of using send/return tracks

yeah this trick completes the circle with sends, being able to make them channels again

This is such a cool setup! I’m keen to try implement this myself!

Thanks, I'm very happy with it so far, and I'm already thinking about more tablets to expand it :)

too bad you didnt do it in landscape ... any chance you share your project file maybe with the osc config to use as a startpoint?

hey there, I did a portrait cause youtube doesn't really share my landscapes hahaha I can give you the project file if you dont feel like you'll find it daunting

drive.google.com/file/d/1nY6BDsq92Rk105gpszlbwR1OMjCfJO8F/view?usp=sharing the channels named audio are all the different audio inputs like if I plug extra people in and give them guitar effects and stuff... the first channel marked audio is my personal audio input that's supposed to get looped, the midi plays into it as well as my mic... and sometimes a secondary loop station (which I'll explain in a sec) It will complain about three plugins, dont worry about them they dont matter, this is the project I use alongside touchosc, I used touchosc v1 for this... if you want that project I can share it its for the very very old ipad, its got two pages, one for loopers and dials and one for instrument selection You'll see rows of clyphx clips, those are instrument selectors, they swap instruments from the library into the live setup so that none of the instruments have to be pre-loaded, this lets you have loads of drumkits. This specific one is set up to work together with the rc-505mk2 to also allow its onboard looping workflow to be incorporated, I use the sub-1 output of the 505 mk2 to make a second output that doesn't play the loopers, but adds its input effects, then I let ableton add it's effects and play it back to the 505 as an input to get looper on it, then let whatever it's playing to be looped on abletons loopers further down the chain, with a good laptop it runs happily at 64 samples, which probably adds up to a little more once it's gone through the input loop, the master finally plays into an output channel on the 505 that's essentially it's 'master' and doesn't get treated as an input, it doesn't record everything unless you record phones, so I had to change my metronome setup a little bit. I still recommend using a midi device with 8 pots on it so that you can easily dial in the reverb and stuff, what I ended up doing is setting up my midi controller to send the same cc's as my touchosc setup... so I often leave touchosc on instrument selection and use the midi controller for the loopers. I also set up a gamepad that controls some of the loopers, to hand to other musicians, rejoice was the tool I used I guess the complexity of my setup is why I didn't just drop my ableton files on everyone, I wanted to make a tutorial on how to incorporate the 505 the way I do, because I think I'm the only person who does it that way Live setups are different from studio setups, you have to meticulously go remove all the effects that add latency from the stock drumkits... so my drumkits all have a prefix on them, that's why the word OPT appears everywhere, those are my optimized low-latency instruments

@@musicmoonshine its kinda better in a way because if your tracks are non linear you can play any part with any part with a few clicks . i.e without dragging clips around. i lost my windows setup due to error, so paused on that for a while.. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWWHy7yPncvIidY.html - pretty fun :)

@@acidtechno sounds interesting so you're saying like to play a quarter of a loop for instance?
