    Thank you for posting this Mark! So helpful. I’d love to see a video where you go into more detail with the RC 505 and the setup you use on there 🙏 2 questions: 1) What are you giving the sound tech when you do live shows? Are you giving them 1 output and mixing yourself or something else? 2) What about monitoring for live? Headphones, in-ears? I can imagine monitors with a loop mic could be a bit tricky. Thanks man, love what you do! 🤘

    @@markjameswoodyardhey! Yes please! I bought one (your fault!) and tried playing around with it. Unfortunately I think I haven't quite got the right idea about how to hook everything up properly to my mixer and then daw. Thanks for your messages! Love you videos, wishing you the best !! And would love a more in depth vid for the rc505, this one is a great overview. Greetings from this British guy living in Germany :)

    Hello, thanks a lot for the video, this was exactly what I was looking for! I have a question, what would be the solution if instead of guitar multi efect I would like to use AMP with pedals? A mic for the amp and then into the looper and everything? Thanks!

    yo bro big setup! good to see it all in action! lol i have RC-505 Looper + MK3 for a few months now and hanvt seemed to been able to sync them like this.... Great Work! Id love to see how you get the settings right within Maschine - Thanks! Does your guitar go directly into MK3 or into the RC 505? (i dont have a guitar looper pedal) I am having trouble with my MK3 Drums to Sync with my Guitar directly in to RC505. Any help would be appreciated!

    Guitar goes into my Line 6 Helix and then into my 505., but you could run your guitar directly into the 505! There are EQ and Effect settings that can make a guitar sound good in the 505. In terms of syncing the 505 and the maschine, you can run a midi cable from the MIDI OUT of the 505 to the MIDI IN of the Maschine. Then go to Preferences or Settings in Maschine, and go to the MIDI category. There's a Midi Clock option that will have the options, OFF, Master,(Send) Slave (Receive) Choose Slave(receive). This will tell your Maschine to receive the Tempo from your 505. When you press record or play on your 505, it will play on Maschine. You can play existing beats you've made in Maschine, or record them live to the 505 tempo! Hope this makes sense!

    You're very welcome! Ive considered maschine + but I had a friend get it and had a lot of problems with it. Glitching out, crashing/cutting out mid show. Horror stories!! I find having a powerful laptop running it has been really good in terms of stability and the amount of plugins/sounds at once it can handle. So I'm gonna stick with what I have.

    Thank you. Great demo. One question. I've heard so many people say the RC505 mk2 works great as a midi master but it won't slave to an external midi clock. How have you managed that? Maybe it's ok with another another RC505 as the Boss (excuse the pun)

  • @markjameswoodyard

    @markjameswoodyard

    5 ай бұрын

    My vocal 505mk2 does slave to the other 505mk2, but I have had certain issues with slow down/glitching when a bunch of loops get going that I never had with the OG RC-505. I'm hoping that with firmware updates they can sort this out. It hasn't ruined my shows by any means, but it's definitely an issue at times.

    Nice setup Mark! Have you played with the built in rhythm on the 505? What are your thoughts?

  • @markjameswoodyard

    @markjameswoodyard

    5 ай бұрын

    yes! I have. They can work in conjunction with my beats running on Maschine and I do this sometimes. And you can adjust the volume of the rhythm track in the 505 so they sit in the mix well which is crucial. I find some of the beats kinda dry and normal sounding, but others work within my sound.

    One kinda weird question I have (which feels dumb because this totally isn't what your video is about), is how/where did you figure out packing up that gear for gigs? Is that all packed into a flight case that you just bring out and put on a table? I'm trying to cut down set up time for gigs and I haven't figured it out yet. Thanks for this video!

  • @markjameswoodyard

    @markjameswoodyard

    5 ай бұрын

    Not a weird question at all! I got this case custom built for my setup. It has retractable legs too so it's also a table. It folds into itself and is on wheels. It was designed and built by www.dinosaurcases.com/ in Vancouver! Super good price for it's value too. When I fly to gigs, I take my stuff out of the case as it's a little too big/expensive to tour with.

    Man that drum machine is wicked! Might look in to that. Do you need the laptop when using it live? Your mic didn't seem to be picking up any of it when looping ya vocals?

  • @markjameswoodyard

    @markjameswoodyard

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes! You need a laptop to run maschine live, but because you can navigate maschine with the controller itself, your laptop doesn't need to be accessible. Just needs to be there! And in terms of the mic, if you dial in your mic volume/EQ and have it placed right in regards to where your monitors are, you can get minimal sound feedback/bleed when looping vocals. Also, the RC-505 has an adjustable mic gate in the input settings that is super helpful for avoiding sound other than your mic creeping in to your vocal loops.

    Great video, but why would you not just use Ableton?

  • @markjameswoodyard

    @markjameswoodyard

    2 ай бұрын

    It would require another computer...and me learning an entirely new workflow within ableton. Plus a new controller to operate it. It's doable and maybe one day soon I'll try it, but for now this works for me. Marc Rebillet runs his show with one looper and a keyboard with some pads and puts on one hell of a show! No daw. Same with Tash Sultana, Reggie Watts, etc. Each their own! Loopy pro also might be the next route. Super powerful looping software that dub fx uses. Very customizable.
