The ULTIMATE Overland Kitchen Set up? | Jet Boil Basecamp. All in one camping cook system, pots pans, stove, windscreen and travel bag all in one. I've had many stoves over the years from Coleman to blackstone and now this jet boil genesis bascamp system. I've been testing in for weeks now and so far it's been the favorite one I've ever owned.

    Why am I willing to pay this much, well 2007 I got my first jet boil. Used it a lot first few years. It is still in use and 100% reliable. That’s why I want a jet boil.

    If you want to add some cooking utensils to that kit, GSI makes a foldable spoon, spatula, and tongs that will fit in the top pocket with the regulator. That’s how I have mine

    I’ve had this system for over a year. Couple points, 1. Don’t use plastic lid with skillet. It will melt. Jet Boil support will tell you it’s a missing detail in their manuals. 2. Order the Camp Chef Mountain Series Hose and Regulator. More versatile than the rigid adapter it comes with.

  • @OXFOOT

    I actually have that same hose for another stove I have. I’ll have to give it a shot. On the skillet thanks for the heads up.

    I’ve had my eye on the single burner of this for a long time, price always got in the way. Found the Firemaple Saturn, and for ~$70 it’s the size, and power I was looking for. Paired with a jet boil, it’s a great small size cooking set up.

  • @OXFOOT

    @OXFOOT

    I’ll have to look into that. I was also back and forth about the single burner for a while as well. I think I made the right choice for me but I’ll look into the one you mentioned.

    Real question - why are all overlanding channels heck bent on brand names? Lets be real, there are probably 10 other brands with the exact same features, but /14 the price. Storage boxes, propane tanks, 12v fridges... so many cost friendly options, but never shown, discussed or used. Why? Sponsorship? My stove cost more than yours? Oh! Your not using Roam?? Please be the change! Im a sub and will remain, but some things got to give in the OL content community.

  • @OXFOOT

    I mean I do both. The point of the “overland gear at ____” series is to counteract brand name stuff. I used a lot of sh*tty and perfectly fine grills over the years and this just so happens to be the best one. Not because if the brand, but because of how it folds up and packs away. At some point an offbrand will do something similar to this but until then they kind of have a strong hood in this system and can afford the R and D to develop things like this. I don’t fully disagree with you though.

  • @OXFOOT

    @OXFOOT

    9 ай бұрын

    And some times I’m sure it’s affiliate/sponsor stuff but I don’t make a dime off of jet boil or roam. I have other boxes that work alright for cheaper and my Coleman grille does alright as well for about 3/5 the price.

    @OXFOOT thanks for the reply. Back story, I ordered that stove then when it arrived it was a hard pill to take for $400. It got returned unopened. And that's my point. $400 for a camp stove... $400... $400 for a plastic box. $300 for an ammo can fire. We all know (pre covid) nothing should cost that much for its use case. But as long as we (the OL community) keep paying it there is zero reason for them to lower price.
