    Agree. Marino would’ve been back to Super Bowls in the 1990s w/just a little more help & more flexible coaching. But Duper & Clayton were 2 truly special receivers who should be in the Hall w/Dan & Eric Green was acquired as a free agent & would’ve been the Gronk of his day if he had stayed healthy. Marino is one of my favorites of all time because I saw him play in college.it was an older style where the QB had to be willing to take many massive hits in exchange for completing big passes.

    What you need to explain to people is the real definition of what a qb is. People don’t understand a qb who makes throws that are instant TD’s, already in route where the wr doesn’t need to accrue YAC yards (Yards After Catch). He always has led the league in fewest adjusted yards traveled on a pass attempts in air. That’s what Tom Brady’s system has always been predicated on, getting WRs to clear the field by having DBs cover the WRs to throw to the underneath matchups now that the fields been cleared up. Perfect case is getting linebackers in mismatches against the RBs.That’s how they get so many yards for so many years doing screen passes, rub routes, pick routes, in and out routes mostly to slot wrs and especially the RB’s. That’s what separates a true QB from system QB. One has arm talent with accurate precision and power while the other relies on screens and check downs for YAC yards.

    Water Dealer those are as qualified as having Stephen Curry a finals mvp at this point with all the facts out and their cheating. It’s an award the winning team always gets and since casual fans and the media think the qb plays every position including offense and defense, the qb gets the participation trophy in the case it comes to the patriots. A real qb is someone like Patrick Mahomes. Brady would have FOLDED against the niners front 4.

    so does that mean joe montana is a system QB? joe barely has any arm strength and relies on the YAC due to the west coast philosophy of throwing it short and let your play makers do damage on the run. IMO the brady system and joe Montana system is the smartest styles of play in Football, taking what your opponent gives you instead of airing it out. joe got 4 and brady 7. Marino despite the most talented thrower of the football got zero.

    Tom Brady works really hard to try to throw the ball like Dan Marino and he never will. That's not a knock on Brady either. He is a phenomenal QB and arguably the best. Marino didn't win championships, not because he wasn't a great motivator. He didn't win championships because his Dolphin teams were not as great as Brady's New England teams. Also, Because of Marino's talents and the excitement he created in the league with the numbers he put up, the league made rule changes to make it easier to pass. Passing led to ratings. Don't forget some of the highest rated Monday Night games of the 80s and 90s were Dolphin games. That's why your boy, Brady, was able to put up pretty big numbers. Marino threw for 5,084 yards and over 40 tds (48 and 44) in an era where no one even came close. Finally, once again, talented teams win Super bowls. The game of football is never about one player. I think the Patriots have made it a point to build great teams. Something the Dolphins couldn't do in the 80s and 90s.

    Tom Brady, the ultimate system QB with average talent who cant take hits, wouldn't last 2 seasons as a starter in the 80s-90s era. Tom can be replaced by anyone who can throw 10 yard accurate passes. If Brady were the QB of 70% of other teams in the league, he would be lucky to make the first round.

    Give me Dan Marino over any QB in NFL history. He dominated an era where it was a lot harder to throw the ball and owned every record in the book by a mile. The only QBs of the modern era that would be able to compete with him are Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers.

  • @The50YardLine

    @The50YardLine

    That really is hilarious Claude. You Brady Cult members are pathetic. I didn't even mention him and you still bring him up. There is a reason why Jamies Winston managed to throw for 5,000 yards last season (would have been a record before 2011), despite being legally blind. It is because the era he plays in is soft. The rules are soft. Passing the ball is easy. Dak freaking Prescott is on track to throw for over 6k! The numbers are ridiculously inflated. Back in the 80s it was a lot tougher to throw the ball and Marino shattered every record. When you adjust for inflation it has been proven that Marino still holds every record. If he played today when you can't so much as touch a QBs shoulder pad or make contact with a receiver without drawing a foul, he would dominate. As for Systom. He was a talentless 6th round pick without Belichick. To suggest he would have the same success in an era where they played real football, and without his savior Bill Belichick is ludicrous. Systom would not be fit to lace Montana, Elway, Marino, or Staubach's cleats if he were to play in the late 20th century without Bill bailing him out.

  • @The50YardLine

    Claude Abraham It’s easy compared to 30 years ago yes. Since you keep bringing up Brady. QB wins are a team stat and Brady is a system QB. The Super Bowl wins were all down to Belichick and the rest of the team. Brady is a system QB and if you don’t believe me I suggest you look at the channel belonging to the guy who posted this video because he goes into more detail and analysis than anybody else possibly could. He’s a dink and dunk, throw a 50/50 ball to Moss or Gronk player and if you put him in Marino’s or Elway’s team from that era he’d be exposed for what he is. Which is a system QB.

The rules are different and Marino would have godlike numbers today, but in the end Championships are about the total package and defense.

    @@claudeabraham2347 You obviously believe that Football is an individual sport where only the QB wins Championships. Statistically Marino did dominate his era. He didn’t win championships because his team sucked. As for Belichick being Brady’s saviour. He absolutely is. Brady abandoned a sinking ship in New England that was trash in 2019, finishing the season 4-5. Brady was trash in 2020 when faced with any pressure whatsoever. He’s lucky that his defense and the refs bailed him out when he played like complete shit in the Divisional and championship round of the playoffs. 3 interceptions in one half and he still won. Typical Brady luck. He’s lucky that in the Super Bowl the Bucs O and D line dominated the LOS. He’s lucky that the refs had a hard on for him and gifted his team 14 points. Open your eyes LOL

    Marino has a 8-10 career playoff record including ONE playoff win away from Miami in his entire career. In each of his first five playoff losses, he threw two interceptions and posted a passer rating under 80. His career passer rating in the playoffs (77.4) is almost 10 points lower than his career rating in the regular season. In his 10 career playoff losses, Marino lead the Dolphins to an avg of 14 ppg. But Marino fans will just keep going on and on blaming the defense.. nevermind the offense. Marino was highly overrated when it mattered most.
