We absolutely love our Rhales conversion. Built to our design and layout, we've been full time in it for 2 years from Europe's most northerly point in Norway to the south of Portugal. There isn't a single thing we would change, plenty of storage and it still looks like new. The build quality is amazing, no rattles or sqeeks, just the best vans ever.

Can I ask Claire, how do you get on with charging leisure batteries, do you need to hook up on a site every few days, asking as I'm looking at full time van life and wondered how you guys get on with it. Thinking high powered fridge etc. Thanks

@@sontaranlee3369 I'm Clare's other half. We didn't use a single campsite for two years. The solar was more than enough through Europe and a sunny Scandinavia. The fridge we have is very efficient (Dometic CRX65). We have a beefy B2B charger fitted too so can charge the leisure batteries pretty quickly whilst driving. One of the few things we would change of building now would be lithium instead of AGM batteries. It would save us about 100kg (as we went for a couple of 220Ah monsters).

We are totally self sufficient for a week, with the limiting factor being water. We have 330w solar and 420ah of batteries with a 60ah b2b charger. We run a waeco crx65 fridge and lots of electronics no problem. We very rarely hook up to ehu and don't stay on campsites and only use Aires occasionally. We also have a compost toilet which is much easier.

Thank you both, it's great to here how you do it. I'm in the UK, will be working away from the van, 99% of the time on my own and needs to be a daily vehicle. For this reason I'll start with the VW coast / Ocean, MP or conversion suited for my needs. Bigger would give me a bit more comfort, prefer wild side, enjoy spearfishing, foraging so sites aren't for me, however have limited knowledge of leisure batteries and running the fridge etc, this is a great help. Solar speaks for its self, again need to properly chat to firms about what's right for me. Whilst I'm about to properly start looking, I'm thinking of waiting for 2021 and being able to visit the shows to see everything under one roof, for now car life beckons 😭😂😁 Adventure begins 👍

I don't think I have ever seen a better design, honestly! Everything is perfect. Maybe not the carpet, but that is just my preference.

Hi Shaun, thanks for showing us around. Nice presentation and talk through. I thought the kitchen has some clever solutions and I hadn’t heard of a diesel hob before, I liked that! As a family of 5 using a camper van, we see a couple of downsides. The first being one which many conversions suffer with and one which we have mentioned many times on our KZread Channel. That is the rear travelling seats being more akin to motorhome/caravan style seats which are not as comfortable/supportive or adjustable as automotive seats. For example, ‘Clever’ Vans (amongst others) offer Recaro seats, and for long distance travelling and touring this is very important if you want contented passengers! The other issue with this layout is the drop down bed. As nice as it is, it means the kids will usually go to bed first and sleep in it and the parents are left with the smaller one underneath and little head room to chill out below. Payload is also important and worth considering if you need to keep it less than 3500kg (?). It’s a cool looking van however. How competitive is the price against the GrandCalifornia 600 or the Ford Nugget Plus (our choice). Enjoying the content, thanks again, Jordan.

Pierre D this is exactly my frustration. I spent over an hour looking at Benimar today, going through and downloading all their brochures as they proudly announce 5 belted seats, and....no explanation as to how the 5th seat is used. We visited an Italian brand called Giotti Line last week and even the dealer couldn’t explain how it worked properly, as sideways seats are no longer allowed for travelling. We are editing a video for our channel about this very issue. I think the manufacturers either don’t care or are embarrassed to show them in use. We have a Cali and are moving to a Nugget; these both offer comfortable travel seats...

Fantastic van and i've been watching reviews of camper vans, motor homes and caravans all lockdown, I suspect a lot of windows means a lot of heat loss though at the cost of all the natural light.

@Concrete Head i agree and they're much much cheaper than these ones the thing is they base all of there vans on mercedes sprinters so for volkswagen crafter it's the best that I've seen less people use these as camper van bases

Great use of space and the lift bed is epic!! Very professionally finished but personally I feel the van has absolutely no character and a very clinical finish with the glossy white cabinetry. Not for me (would never be able to afford this anyway) but functional and practical use of space for a family. Much prefer most of the DIY builds i've seen on here but 'each to their own'.

A fresh design is always nice to see. That’s a good camper van ! Storing the table in the Shoilet is a perceived weak point as is the exposed roll of TP 🧻. Very nice review!

That is a gorgeous van. I think I like the pop top upper sleeping space, but if you have a ton of stuff on the roof, it will have to do.

A very nice van with a Great Floorplan.

They have nailed this layout . I have a 6m motorhome chausson with this layout with drop down bed , it is for me thee best layout I have ever seen and for years have be looking for a panel van with same layout and this is the first time I have ever seen same layout Rear full width massive washroom Electric drop down bed that doesn’t need made up every night and leaves all that space for daytime large Lounge

This is so perfect for us, the only changes for me would he 3 seats at front with double swivel which also needs to become a single bed in some way and the toilet/shower area in the back would be the size of the garage as well so massive wet room for changing out of wetsuits etc etc

This is an excellent conversion. It offers a lot of bells and whistles. It would be ideal for someone who plans to travel a great deal or would like to live full-time in the van. I would be curious to see how the cost compares to other conversions.

Well done. Possibly your best demo to date; nicely presented and edited. The camper looks huge, for Cornwall or other UK destinations with lots of narrow windy roads, so I wonder if they do a slightly scaled down version with a smaller bed (for us hobbits) and, say, a smaller sized sofa area. The XLWB looks like a lot to drive.

Are you serious? It was NOT filmed well. Too many close ups; not enough wide views to get a sense of space. It felt like it was filmed by walking around with a magnifying glass! Terribly annoying.

annihilated, VW will NEVER bring these here , why ? How many would they SELL, then have to keep parts here also That last reason FOREIGN CARS ARE GOD DARN EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN/REPAIR a brother in law in FLORIDA had a KIA SORENTO needed an exhaust system, when he heard the price, he SOLD IT , bought an AMERICAN CAR ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
