The people I know that truly know how to fight always walk away unless someone is in danger. They are less concerned with what will happen to them in the fight than they are what will happen to the other guy in the fight and to them once the lawyers get involved.

I don't know where you live, but this sounds horrible. It is insane that there are places where there is a realistic chance that you are assaulted if you have a beer in a bar.

@@james1098778910 Well some people have a very poor constitution for alcohol apparently. You go into a bar, their girlfriend winks at you to make their bf jealous, you get into a stupid altercation. If you are playing pool and you accidently get ahead of someone, a brawl occurs. I just do my best to avoid drunks altogether. I would rather be surrounded with people smoking weed than people who are drunk. The potheads are mellow pretty much.

I play bars all the time . I don't drink at all when I do . I'm already a target for attention by being on stage , I have to load out $4,000 worth of gear at 2 AM by myself . So I need my wits about me . When they say "Nothing good happens in a bar after midnight", believe them. Loud music makes people drink more because of endorphins and being unable to hear each talking they have no idea how drunk they are . Another factor is when men gather in groups it raises their testosterone levels . After 12, 1am , the men start to realize whether or not the are going to go home with a girl. If they aren't , they start getting angry . I call it the "F#$k or Fight" syndrome . If you don't have a reason to stay like I do, GO HOME. You'll see it in their body language , and hear it in their speech. They get LOUD, smoke more and start losing control of their facial expressions . They get tunnel vision so they have no idea people like me are watching them. Eventually they make smart ass remarks to me about my music , etc and I just laugh and agree with them but most of all i stay in motion . Don't stop and engage . If you fight and win all you did was beat up a drunk who may fall and crack his skull open on the asphalt and now you go to jail .

I can attest to this powerful message from first hand experience!❤ My high school friend got into a confrontation at a Halloween house party in the 1980’s , a real banger of a fist fight broke out between him and the aggressor, the aggressor got the best of my buddy in the house,as the blood was leaking out of both of them and the aggressor was removed from the house, my buddy grabbed a knife 🔪 from the kitchen and went outside and stabbed the guy to death ☠️ out of anger, humiliation and pride. He was charged with 2nd degree murder, after years of prison and court they found him not guilty and he was released. The guilt, shame and harassment destroyed him until he committed suicide. Two sets of families and friends destroyed because they didn’t know how to mentally handle the situation appropriately. Stay safe and be smart all 🙏🏻

@@idx1941 your statement is extremely hurtful my internet penpal ,my friend killed a bully at a house party in high school ,got off on self defence and then committed suicide . Gracie is promoting how to avoid these situations and I posted my comment to share the pain of making poor decisions. If you won’t show some respect towards my life experience, please have some for the Gracie family that is spending their lives on making the world a better place by sharing their knowledge on these serious issues 🙏🏻

Honesty even in practice whenever i run into a guy that gets locked in a sub but for a whatever reason will not tap i just let go and move on. Id rather lose the sub then deal with a potential broken limb just cause the other guy is a ego freak. Same thing applies in the street, i just laugh them off when provoked and go on about my day.

Unpopular opinion: For young men, the spiritual pain and self-doubt that comes from avoiding a fight out of fear can often (not always) be greater than the pain of the fight itself.

It depends wheter you avoid the fight because you fear it or because you know it is pointless (most of the times) even if you would win it. I do not belive that a young men than trains martial arts will be filled self doubt if he has hundrands of hours of mat time and he is choosing not to fight.
