Timing belt work was awesome to watch

I just bought me a '93 GTO with no car automotive experience whatsoever and I'm terrified to fix/add anything else to the engine because I'm worried I'm going to blow it up. Videos like this help get me a bit of insight into how everything is put together on the motor, so thanks for that.

Be careful anytime your using a silicone base product on o rings. Silicone can swell, deteriorate, and weaken your o rings depending on what the o ring is made of. A few years back I was testing a 118 ton hydraulic ram and the back up o ring let loose at 110 tons. The sales rep we used had this new assembly lube that was the latest and greatest thing on the market. Well it was silicone bases...

dang that cleaner really did the job looks new again that red winkle paint really pops will really wake things up under the hood.always helpful when you have a mitsu tech doing the work they know the tricks working for the dealerships.

Neal Young - I understand where you’re coming from bro but painting that rear cover is a complete waste of time. Not a shred of it is visible once the car is reassembled. There are many other choirs around the shop that require the time wasted painting that thing. Don’t think it wasn’t thought about. 👍🏼

Alex Villalobos unfortunately now since this rona shit all happened no. It’s parked in the driveway of the apartment I used to live at. The landlord let’s me store it for free cause he likes it so much. My car started throwing smoke out the exhaust anytime I got above 3k Rpms and I haven’t had time to go back over and figure that out. I’ve just been driving it around the block a few times every few days to make sure shit doesn’t get worse

The headliner is dirty, and the carpet. Interior looks like ass. Also people swap 4 cylinder Eclipse engines in them now to do a weight reduction and run quicker times. So the engine needs replaced if you want it to run 8s or quicker.

Painting valve covers is ricer. I polish mine. Bare metal transfers heat quicker than painted or coated steel. So polished parts cool off quicker, and disapate more heat. High temp paint, powder coating, traps heat in the engine.

The rear cover was removed at one point in the vid so I suspect the gasket would have been changed. The plenum completely blocks any view of the rear cover hence why it wasn’t painted.

Earl Moorhead Think you’re right, I must have been tricked by ever changing camera angles. Thought I had seen the yellow cloth and on the rear bank cover but apparently not. It would be nice painted but that is pretty extreme overkill.

Rear seals were replaced. Rear cover was not painted. Complete and utter waste of my time as it’s not visible in the least. Sorry boys, they can’t all be spec’d.
