Here’s the thing. What makes us so sure that tyler’s the one who made up these logos and not josh? Since the east is pointing towards another planet where dwarfs live. Josh truly believes in aliens , which is why the alien persona might be impersonating josh , leading us to the fact that it is he who created these logos.

IT HAS BEEN SAID So the three symbols go along with a line from Fairly Local. Josh (the alien) is the proud, we (the circle) are the few, and Tyler (the human) is the emotional. I still think Josh is Clancy.

That’s so cool! I have always thought that the alien is Josh, and the skeleton is Tyler. Especially that Josh has a thing with aliens, he dreamed about them kidnapping him, and now he has this as a tattoo on his arm, him as an astronaut being kidnapped by a spaceship. Most of the Norse stuff is new to me, so it’s the first time I see this compass symbol... but I can clearly see the resemblance. And you’ve pronounced the nine realms correctly 😂 Also... Guys. in The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien it is mentioned that while map-making the Dwarves always put East at the top, instead of North. Svartalfheim is the realm of the dark elves, basically a crossbred of Elves and Dwarves. Yet if you look at the bottommost symbol the "east is up" logo is there too. That would most likely be Nidavellir, since it's the closest of the Nine Realms to the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree. Could Tyler have taken some inspiration from LOTR and The Hobbit as well?

LotR is also very Christian faith inspired and Narnia as well. Its very possible given the amount Tyler's faith influences his lyrics and that LotR is faith inspired as well.

I second this!! I have a whole twitter thread of LOTR connections to Tyler's work. I'm still trying to figure out if Sahlo Folina could be inspired by Elvish (so far I've only found the words "saloh" and "folima" in elvish) but this all makes a lot of sense. Tolkien was also influenced by norse mythology so I think it's definitely possible that Tyler is very influenced by LOTR/The Hobbit.

I enjoy researching names for the characters in my stories, that's fun, too. My children may end up having rather peculiar names I think... Though sometimes the simplest names have the best meanings! the thing about drawning with blood in the forehead is about another symbol. I dont know the name in norse, but it translates to Helm of Awe. Its a type of nordic magical symbols called galdastrafir.

The Norse compass is also called a vegsívir, which is Icelandic for “wayfinder”, where jumpsuit was filmed.

Yesterday, I saw a video about a Frozen 2 theory with the Vegsisir. Today, I saw an other video about the Vegvisir. I am from Norway and have never heard about it before, but it is everywhere now.

I was having a really bad day and this honestly really helped

This is a bit unrelated to the logo topic of the video, but I wanted to share a quick story... I'm in a high school speech league, and today was our Districts tournament. I competed in the "oral interpretation of poetry" event and did a selection of Twenty-One Pilots songs (Migraine, Holding Onto You, and Neon Gravestones) and won 1st place! A lot of people who heard my interp. have only known ToP as that "One weird screamo band," but after hearing the lyrics spoken/performed, they've completely changed their minds, and decided to give the music a second chance. I was really proud to be a mini Pop Song Professor at my own school, and hope I'll have the chance to reach more people when I compete at States in March. Wish me luck!

4:47 i heard that the E symbol represents "east is up" so on the jumpsuit medallion, it marks that east is up rather than north on a regular map. it also means that east is the only way out of trench (since the medallion is a map of trench). you can see that there is an opening at the end which is like an exit. i've heard that the map kind of looks like a brain to represent how we are trapped in our brain - in our internal thoughts - like we are trapped in trench, to go along with the storyline of the music videos.

The utmost respect to Abigail for researching this and putting all the pieces together for what is likely something that influenced Tyler. Great vid and great work

Idk about u but I, myself have never been one to "follow" or be part of anything even similar to a clique nor have I ever preferred a band or artist over all the rest but ever since I first heard Twenty One Pilots many years ago I have been a huge fangirl and rarely if ever listen to any other music. As a musician myself I understand the genius that is Tyler Joseph and how completely amazing his music is. There is no other band or musician on earth that go so in depth with the storyline nor the endless layers in every song that allows the listeners to not only hear something they didnt before in every song regardless of how many thousands of times you may listen to that song you will always find yourself hearing some new layer that was always there but your just now discovering. Not to mention if you are a true fangirl like I am and you've spent countless hours researching the dema websites contents you also know just how brillant and complex the storyline actually is where equally if you do the work to research each clue you will always learn something new and you will find that some of the inspiration behind the trench storyline dates back thousands of years to the first and oldest known religion in the world Zoroastrianism and combines that with things related and unrelated in past and present such as Nicolas Borbaki the mathematician group that created the Ø along his own family and even his feelings on suicide and how its glorified in pop culture. The layers both musically and lyrically are absolutely genius. If you follow the path the research takes you on it's as close to understanding what that kitchen sink is to him as it gets!

On the Vegvisir the letter E does appear to be on top. But also check out the symbol for "The Helm of Awe" it literally looks like Tyler and Josh filled in the head to create the skull and alien. They already have 3 straight lines. It's a symbol of protection and might.

Woah. I'm amazed. Actually, vegvisir means guidepost in english, so that's even more faszinating than it already is!

This is the second Norse compass video that’s popped up from a KZreadr I watch regularly within two days. My Mythology/Magnus Chase Brain nerd brain is very happy.

Upon doing extensive and lengthy research (like a 2 minute Google search) I was able to learn that the Svartalfheim dwarves were described as excellent crafts men who lived underground. So, this leads me to conduct one of two theories, 1. Tyler is referring to twenty one pilots before they became famous (underground artists) or, 2. That Tyler is referring to him writing most of Trench while in his basement (basements being located under the main structure of a house or building). Just a little idea based on some quick research so if anyone would like to add onto this theory, feel free!

oh damn I got this symbol Vegvisir tattoed in Iceland. At this time I was at a point where I failed much in my life and didn't know where to go. I decided to get it tattoed and just let my life "flow" and see where it takes me. It was the best decision ever and I couldn't wish for a better place to be in now even when there were tough times in between. So cool, I got an unoffical TOP tattoo haha!

I swore I heard Josh say that a fan made them jackets back in the day and put those symbols on them. They thought the keys were really cool and have used them since. It was in an old interview or something I saw on KZread years ago.

There's a place for giants. Need to look in my new Norse book. And see if I find this stuff. Fascinating 😎🌻
