This, to me, just shows that people believe what they want to hear. I participated in the 2017 campaign, and I knew exactly what the plan was and that there were going to be other campaigns. You made that point clearly in the videos you uploaded before and during the 2017 campaign. Also, just to make sure people know this, for the 2017 campaign, you did not receive just The Forest Seasons album. I also received a remastered debut album, remastered Time I, isolated tracks for Time I, Live in Tuska album , a gorgeous photo album, and finally The Forest Seasons. I just want to make sure that people understand what people from the 2017 campaign received. I'll be ready on March 1st, and I'll happily contribute again.

I 've been with you since Ensiferum, I've been with you in the crowdfunding, and I'm with you right now in the preorder of Time II. You're an absolute genious of music. Here we go again!

Eh, look over at the game development of Star Citizen - hasn't helped there. They've been developing their games for a very long time, and give weekly status updates, have a huge roadmap showing exactly where they are and where they're going, and ETA's. A board that shows updated estimates, what's been done early, what's been done on time and what's lagging behind. Chris Roberts is still broadly seen as an incompetent grifter, even though at this point, Star Citizen has more content you can go play than certain other games that are considered finished. Not to say the two situations are comparing apples to apples - Star Citizen really is a crowdfunded project, and it suffers from several management issues I don't really think apply here, at least to the same extent. But the point that certain people are going to stir shit and mischaracterize what's going on is pretty constant I'd say.

It seems watching the video didn't seem to clear things up for you. - He decides his own standards and goals, yes. We all decide that for ourselves. We can discuss whether the standards are realistic and healthy, but ultimately it's up to him what they are. - "Lying to people who pay his salary" That's just a fundamental misunderstanding of things. We are Wintersun's customers - not their employer. I'm not convinced Jari is salaried either, as he says his income streams are mainly tours, record sales, some ad revenue and merch. But that's the money Wintersun makes. His personal income may be a salary he takes/gets from Wintersun, but even if it is, we are not the ones who pay his salary - Wintersun is - with money we exchanged for a product. Now, as for whether he lied or not, I don't think he has lied. What are you saying he lied about? I'd like you to elaborate, but do provide sources, so I can be sure it's something he said and not something you read in a youtube comment that some guy heard in a dream. - Releasing albums about a decade late: Late compared to what? Compared to his original estimates? Sure, he did that. I would have liked to have it sooner, but I don't think he gave me a deadline and said it will be done by that date. Even if he did, I personally don't care, but if you do, then that's fine, you can care all you want. - Is it good management? Well no. I don't claim he is a good manager. I think he's an amazing songwriter, guitarist and a very good singer. I don't buy the albums for how well they're managed. I buy them because I like the music, and yes it took a really long time for part 2 to be released after the first part. I don't know that I care very much, because I haven't paid him anything without getting what I paid for.

All of the drama around Wintersun has never, not once dulled my appreciation and anticipation of their music. Truly a one-in-a-generation band - the passionate arguments will rage on but we should never lose sight of what is most important - THE MUSIC. That's what Wintersun is all about, their music changed my life, as it has for so many. Thankyou to Jari and the band for all the amazing music released so far - all of this passion and impatience is simply a sign of how much we eagerly await MORE of it!

This is a nice sentiment, but it's difficult to believe. It's unimaginably hard to maintain excitement for over a decade for drip-fed music. You're either a new fan, or didn't really pay attention to Wintersun over the years. If you were truly somehow here from the start and never once lost hope - then kudos. But I suspect a lot of these statements are fans posturing now that the album may finally be released. That being said, I'm doing my best to dust off the old wintersun fan in me, because I'd really like to join back in on some of the hype. The way of the fire is still my favourite metal song, and I've barely heard it.

I also never had the experience of their crowdfunding campaign drama. Instead I've been binging on antying Jari has ever touched. Ensiferum, Arthemesia, demo tracks.

​@@pbmdh That's awesome, I bet you're stoked! When I ran out of material I ended up binging on some of his inspirations, including the mighty Summoning. Time II definitely marks an end of a 2 decade era, no doubt Jari's regretted his decision ever announcing it! I imagine each Wintersun album will likely feel like a pleasant surprise going forward (Like the forest seasons did, but alas it fell a bit hollow as many of us were still awaiting anything from Time 2 and the crowdfunding felt like another carrot down that road). Really happy for Jari that he can finally put this all to bed, I wonder why he didn't put this video out earlier though. Perhaps it just took a while to understand what it seemed like from a fan's perspective, our snide remarks (I've definitely left one or two) didn't help either.

I doubt it. Drama queens need drama. Half the comments here are still just people being angry, despite the video having 2700 likes and 60 dislikes right now.

It was always clear to me that it was not simply a case of "take the money and run" but I feel like a lot of the hate and unnecessary frustration could have been avoided if something like this was posted on regular basis to explain how everything was progressing that said, I hope that this video helps people to calm down even a little

I was supporting you back in the 'Forest Seasons' release and package campaign, and I knew exactly what you meant when you explained the whole campaign. People buy a huge digital package from you, and you make a good amount of money from it that is YOUR MONEY, transaction complete! But it was cool that you also told people that your goal was to make enough money to be able to build the Wintersun Headquarters, and I thought that was magnificent! I'm still rooting for you on that, and I hope you make a ton more money in the Time II package! I also love that you built a 'semi pro' studio in the meantime, I would love to see a vlog of it! You are a true gentleman Jari, and I never had a doubt this whole time that a studio would be built eventually! I'm sorry that there are some ridiculous people on the internet that feel entitled, and raise hell if an influencer doesn't do exactly what they want, those are toxic people, and I'm sorry you have to deal with people like that. Thanks jari, this was kind of emotional to watch for me youve always been a big hero of mine and im glad you've been able to explain your side of the story its been upsetting to see the comments about everything going on and im just SO happy that you have finished time 2. I never rly cared about the money situation i agree, what you do with the money is at your discretion ive just been waiting for time 2 ever since i was still in my early 20s living with roommates and shit. My music has completely changed over the years but ill never forget singing and playing guitar to ensiferum "old man" with my friends on my 21st birthday or trying to learn all of your songs singing and playing (except the solos of course😂) your music will always hold a special place for me and i am thrilled to finally hear the new album . Jari id listen to your music if you had to record it on a 100 dollar laptop hooked up to a potato for the microphone lets be honest. Thanks for setting the record straight and thanks for working your ass off to finish the album!! Its going to be amazing.

I personally do not care much about anything going on outside of the music by Wintersun and Jari. To me, Wintersun has one of the most unique and best metal music out there. Anything else is just secondary to me. March 1st cannot come soon enough!

Yes. Since the beginning of my discovery of Wintersun it was clear almost from the beginning that it'll all be about the Time album and finally it'll be reality so I couldn't be happier. Sure, Jari has made mistakes, he's not perfect. He's a human so I can easily forgive him.

Such a video was very much needed! To be perfectly frank, I've been surprised by the amount of people who felt like they got scammed during the 2017 crowdfunding... Like, you paid for a product and you received said product, so I'm genuinely baffled at where the "scamming" claims came from. Although with all the weird drama going on I think everyone would have benefited from explanations being made sooner. But ah well! I will most certainly always support you guys and your music, no matter how much time it might take to release new albums. Plus, we're here now and Time II is finally going to see the light of day; I'm beyond hyped! Can't wait for March 1st 🤘

it's in the name "crowdfunding". When people put money into a thing that's called crowdfunding on a crowdfunding platform, the confusion should be expected. Especially if you're going to keep radio silence up for years. Other than that, everything should be clear.

Jari is an absolute chad, works his ass of for years, puts his name and money on the line and delivers what he promised. All the haters you can frankly get lost.

I really wonder how people can be upset after the 2017 campaign. It was clear, to me, that you buy a finalized product via the platform. Simple eCommerce. It was not about crowdfunding the Wintersun HQ - that was just a vision and an ultimate bonus should things go super smoothly. Could all this have been clarified earlier? Perhaps, but as Jari said, they spent 3 years touring after which more plans were set in motion. Now that they are about to sell more music with the same method as before, I see it as no-brainer to address some questions many felt unanswered previously. All the best. Can't wait for TIME II.

It's simple ecommerce to crowdfund paying off your previous label that you screwed over, under the guise of building a world class studio to release an album that is a decade late, while continuously muddying the waters on whether it is even coming out at all. Stuff like this is why people don't respect musicians. The work ethic in this story is absolutely shameful and atrocious. Jari should be ashamed of himself.

Completely false. Initially it was intended as a FIRST campaign in order to reach ULTIMATE goal which was even SET to 750K euros to build Wintersun HQ. They literally asked people to help to reach ultimate goal. Moreover, the campaign page with all the updates is still available via indiegogo and everyone can go and refresh their memory. It wasn't a bonus or vision, it was a straight plan. I paid 50 euros not for the package alone (not interested in isolated tracks or anything) but to eventually get more Wintersun releases FASTER as they PROMISED. It was a payment to support the band reaching ultimate goal. And guess what? I got nothing for 7 years. No more music at all. Plan was abandoned long time ago and Jari didn't even care to be open about it as soon as the plan got abandoned. How it is possible is beyond me.

I saw in college how little people understand the amount of money involved in real estate. They would think 1 million usd is a lot when talking about commercial real estate. You maybe could buy a small shopping center in the shady part of town at least in Dallas, Texas. 200k would definitely be on the smaller side for a decent sized studio, though idk about Finland property prices.

Thanks for remaining so humble Jari, despite all of our crushing expectations and years of jokes at your expense. I think this was a really good video that clears up a lot of the miscommunication between you and the fans. One thing though: I wish you'd made videos talking about your perfectionism and what it means to you, or how difficult it is for you to abandon/deal with it. I think it would have made things much more relatable, because a lot of us don't understand it.

I know you're not here to prove yourself, you're an artist, and I believe you don't owe an explanation to anyone, but if you really want to placate some people, you should give a little tour of this studio, little by little. As for me, I loved and still love The Forest Seasons, I'm happy that I bought it for whatever price, and I'm even happier to know that the little amount I paid has helped you to create Time II, and will help with other albums. I have to admit that I had my doubts too about the future albums, given that I haven't seen anything - no works in progress, no pics of a new studio, nothing that would make me think "Oh, there's something going on there, in Finland!" -, because you didn't give a sign that you're working hard in the background. I think part of the issue was the way the initial funding campaign was worded and promoted. I distinctly remember that the way the campaign was set up was designed to take advantage of people's desire to see Time II completed. Yes, we all understand the complexities of your vision and crafting music this complex is no easy task. We understand that sometimes it's not as simple as sitting down and making it happen. That said, yes, The Forest Package was a finalised product, that people did pay for. And you could use the proceeds from that anyway you wanted. Nobody disputes that. The problem was that the emphasis at the time was less about 'you are spending your money for this album you really want', it was more so 'If you really want us to make Time II, you have to buy the forest seasons from us first' No other band large or small bargains with fans in this way. It felt a little bit entitled and obnoxious - especially after multiple delays and missed release windows already. But at the end of the day if the music is worth it i can forgive a bit of big-headedness! Congrats on finishing Time II!

INB4 Time II also has barely audible guitars and sound drowned by poopy synths. The only correct way to listen to TIME I is the live rehearsal (before it got remastered and ruined ofc)

@@aexalven i don't know, listening with a really good pair of over-ear headphones really elevates it. I was and still am stunned by the quality of the sound of Time I. The songwriting is up to subjective taste, but the simple feat of getting so many layers mixed and working seamlessly was astounding. It truly is a leap forward for metal production and sets the standard to this day. That said, that alone does not give you any right to fleece people out of money for a followup that should have come out 12 years ago and strong arm your loyal fans out of their hard-earned cash by forcing a lesser album on them. It was all in the messaging, if Jari had just said 'look, as you know this is a herculean task, it will take years for this to be complete' from the outset, the drama would have been avoided. Instead we got a decade of empty promises and aggressive marketing, which just wore thin eventually. Luckily, the album is now done, and that's really the only saving grace

I am eternally grateful for your music and I am happy to support the band in anyway, back in 2017 and in the future, through Patreon, Crowdfunding, buying merch etc.. I agree that this video is long overdue, but at the same time I am appreciative that you made it and explained more of the situation from your side. I've been listening to Wintersun just sporadically for the past few years, but when you said that Time II was finished it just caught me off guard... I can't wait to listen to the album back to back for days on end.

Maybe it's me being Finnish so that I understand your rally english better but I don't think there was anything left unclear the last time. I did not feel betrayed, albeit I am as frustrated as anyone that we haven't gotten new music. Hopefully this time there's subtitles for ever daftest of us to understand. Also, as a Finn I totally understand the need for sauna and those are cheap as fuck here as there's more saunas in Finland than cars. Anyway, glad that it finally is the TIME for TIME II. Been waiting to hear The Silver Leaves that Kai said to be the most beautiful song he had ever heard. And Way of the Fire will finally be freed from the shackles of poor live videos I have found from KZread and be heard correctly! I wish we will get those 4 new albums sooner now. I don't even give horses ass about audio quality really. I mostly listen to so badly recorded black metal anyway to notice any niceties, lol.
