I most almost certain this is THE most entertaining bike build series I’ve seen in a while. Might not mean much to you but ,THANK YOU, this is really what makes KZread a great entertainment platform. I look forward to more eps and hopefully you get a sh!tload of subs so this rebuild gets paid entirely by YT

My bro, I dig this adventure. I'm fascinated by motorcycles and how they function. The numbers, while relevant, are insignificant when in the face of the sheer adventure of assembling your own ride. Vibez

this is great info. will be interesting to see what you are able to sell it for and factoring in your labor and parts what you walk away with. I understand it is a labor of love though! great content, man!

This is labor of love, you would never be able to get out what you put in with an experiment like this. $14K and he could probably had gotten a mint condition version of this bike, this is more for the channel content and for the adventure, definitely not a business endeavor.

Thanks for this walkthrough of the process. My daily ride was purchased from a repo auction. I’ve looked at Copart and IAA but haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet. I don’t mind buying some that needs some work. My VStar 1300 needed some clutch work when I purchased it. But after buying for just over $1k and about $600 in mechanic fees, I’ve been riding my girl for over 4 years issue free.

I live in Detroit, Michigan, and I am a CoPart member, I belong to one of those states where you don't have to be a dealer to bid, and you don't have to use there towing contractor, you can bring you own trailer. Thank you Brandon for explaining the process to us. It's interesting what all is involved in a project like this. And if you are willing to go through the process of finding the bike, applying for a loan to have working capital, winning the bid (no easy feat), and then bringing the new bike home to begin the long and tiresome project, you can come out with a 2022 Indian Chief in like-new condition for a very good price. There's nothing wrong with exerting some serious elbow grease to wrench on a bike that will eventually be a super nice/reliable/beautiful, and cost-effective piece of equipment. With your know-how on fixing that thing, you could start a profitable business. Way to go man. I think what you are doing is really cool. I'm following this series to the end for sure. peace. Interesting project, a lot to take on, not too many would. Good for you. A lot of early Victory motorcycles, the V92s first built in 1999 had crap engines/transmissions. The thing to do with them is install a later model "Freedom," engine off a wrecked bike. The one thing you always had to watch for is a cracked front head. If the front forks were bent, it was possible that some of the impact transferred through the frame to the head. This can happen with any bike, I wrecked my 1978 Harley, thought I only had cosmetic damage, but internally I had a cracked inner primary. I'll be watching your progress with great interest.

I kind of wanted to know how to do this sort of thing (working on bikes beyond just basic maintenance) too. I chose the route of getting an early 80ies Shovelhead (an original condition 1981 Sturgis). I like older bikes that (here in Europe) are still allowed to make noise as they are grandfathered in, and that are not so refined. Parts for these old bikes are really easy to get online. They dont really depreciate here in Europe. I spent this morning putting a helicoil in the frame (a big 1/2-20), first time. After that I put a new primary belt in and put the clutch back together. Working on your own bike is so rewarding... enjoy the process !

@@BrandonBicasso a separate topic. i just read a article on Motorious called motorcycle monday. it was about how certain countries/cities are wanting to ban motorcycles or their engines. even the pikes peak hill climb wants too after a fatal crash in 2019 so the article said. whether the article is true or not idk. it could be a vid for you. i found it biased or off putting how the first picture you see is of a replica or real military bike with a machine gun. which to me says the author wants bikes to be made out to be bad.

One thing you might want to check, before you get too far along, is if the tranny can be shifted and the wheel rolled in gear. Might have to take out the spark plugs. The reason I say that is the Vic I planted into a deer that had damage much like yours, also had a binned tranny from the abrupt rate the bike came to a stop in that animal.

Thanks for this breakdown…I’ve been tempted many times to bid at auction on what appears to be a deal on a project bike…instead I took on buying from private owner…2007 royal enfield bullet 500 with sidecar and only 2,300 on the clock…got the deal because it sat in “a little water” up to the bottom of engine during a flash flood…I’ve already spent 3 times the purchase price so far, and have to wait forever to get parts…I’m pretty knowledgeable about motorcycles, and good at sniffing out good deals. But after the smoke clears on this one, I am not sure I will be able to make that claim…the good news is that it’s not a salvage title…I think I’ll be ok , and have some fun along the way…

Great video. I also use Autobidmaster. I have been thinking about doing a video like this as well. I have bought two wrecked bikes so far, first one is almost done. It is a LOT of fun. In my case I sold my car during COVID, been working from home. So I took that money and just paid for the bikes and parts. I do have a bunch of tips for people who are thinking about doing this, things to look for on the site and how to make smarter bids. I totally should do a video about it.

Thought about selling my car as well so I can work from home a year. All I think about is “What if I could give KZread one good year”. I’m working on it and this build is gonna help get there faster with a solid rebuild foundation. You def should make that video. I kept this one on parts of the topic since most people wanna know the numbers.

@@BrandonBicasso in my case I still can use my wife’s Jeep. So it’s not that bad. And paying a little interest on that loan isn’t a big deal. Hey I think you are killing it on KZread. 😀 You have had a great run so far, keep doing it one day at a time. As long as you are learning and having fun, it will show through and more people will watch.

Profit margin doesn't seem too high for this build at least but its a great starting point if you can get at least 13k for it but have you decided if you're going to sale it or keep it?

Did you get a clean title with the bike? I’ve never seen a vehicle totaled by an insurance company get anything other than a salvage title after auction. If that’s what you have, could you talk about the inspections and paperwork necessary to get a rebuilt title? Also about the value difference between a clean titled vehicle and a rebuilt titled one? Thanks.

It’s salvaged and I’ll talk about the inspection/rebuilt title process when that time comes.

What makes this build hard is the lack of used parts on the internet because it's a new model. Keep your head up because I think you'll still be ahead after it finished.

Yeah. It’s a bit tough but I’m navigating it! I’ll explain how once it’s mostly done. Got some interesting stories and numbers.

What I gathered from this was that buying that bike was like ordering a pizza for delivery online. It might have started as a 13 dollar pizza, but by the time you put in the delivery fees, taxes, and then the tip for the driver, it ends up being 25.

Essentially. But, knowing the price before you start makes it an easier pill to swallow and prepare for.

Damn bro, six grand before you even started rebuilding the bike. That's a tough pill to swallow, I can't imagine what the end game will tally up too. I would luv to attempt doing this method!
