How Indian Chief Handled My 1752 Mile Weekend

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

1700 miles in a weekend is a record for me. Doing it on an Indian Motorcycle is also a record. It was an eventful weekend with the Indian Super Chief Limited, Indian Challenger and also the well-known Victory Magnum. A lot of people want to know how well this bike can handle a weekend trip, and of course it handled it with flying colors. Any motorcycle can be a touring motorcycle, but Indian Super Chief Limited makes it incredibly easy with the conveniences it has. Definitely won't be the last time.

Who is Bicasso:
I ride motorcycles with the full time career of being a System's Administrator. I'm like the majority - I work a lot for a living and have to find time to ride either on my commute, after work hours, on the weekend or with the two weeks vacation I get from work. A constant goal is finding a balance between working full time, riding motorcycles, creating content and being relatable to many of you out there.

Brandon, you made several comments in this video that indicate you believe switching ride modes has some effect on fuel economy- that switching to Tour will give you better mileage. This is not true. Switching ride modes simply changes how much throttle twist it takes to get the same response, i.e., the same amount of fuel to be injected into the cylinders. Tour Mode makes the bike less responsive to throttle input, while Sport Mode makes it more responsive. Assuming your riding style remains unchanged, the fuel economy will remain the same. Kind Regards-

  • @BrandonBicasso

Ah. My logic is sport mode keeps me from being a hooligan so I’m saving gas. I’m multiple times less likely to do stop light pulls on tour mode so it does change my riding habit/style. Thanks for educating me on the fueling. 👌🏾❤️

@@evil_musclemuscled3814 Because they each feel different and can change the riding style. Riding in Sport Mode all the time is fine but it’s borderline too much. Very easy to whiskey throttle. For new riders, it’s perfect and allows them to grow into the bike.

Sooo, Educator. Your're saying that you have the same level of power in sport mode that you have in touring mode. If you do..what would be the point of having the options? The option titles are suggestive as to what to expect in each mode??

Really enjoyed this video. Love my Super Chief. Not the limited. You are right about the windshield. It needs just a little something more to help the buffeting. I've been able to ride mine to almost 200 miles before fill-up. It was angry with me. Suspension, I had to stretch out the shock to where there isn't much left for adjustment. It helped immensely on those bumps where it felt like you were about to launch off your seat. Shield does help in the rain. I'm your same height. I have also raised the bars just slightly has helped the shoulders. It looks like your bars were set high. I did that once and pinched the nerve between my left shoulder blade. Floorboards are awesome, though looking forward to getting the crash bars with highway pegs. Great video 👍

Excellent review! I am considering the Super Chief to be my next bike. Your review will help in making that decision. I hate riding in the rain. I'd rather ride in cold weather than in the rain! lol It looks like you really enjoyed yourself on that trip. Thanks!

@@BrandonBicasso love it man. I don’t mind long videos. I try to keep mine short, but they end up either being 10 minutes or 30 minutes. We’re in COVID lockdown now, so not much long distance trips anywhere. But hopefully soon. Thanks for the videos man. They help me at least come along on your adventures.

Looks like a great trip ! I have problems with the gas gauge on my '19 FTR1200 S ,also. With a full tank, it gives a range of 140 plus miles, then drops rapidly to 100, then starts to decline normally from there. Can't trust it. That rain looked nasty ! Nothing worse that having rain gear, and not putting it on until you're soaked ! Happened every time we rode west from Iowa to the Black Hills in SD. Nice report with some good friends and family !

I put a lot of trust into the fuel gauge and it's very accurate. Not sure if it'll last long term, but it did the job!

Thanks for the feedback, brother. Longest trips I’ve done on the Chief Dark Horse so far are 200-300 something miles over a weekend. Hoping to make it to the Black Hills before it snows! I’m sorry to hear the Chief is gone! Looking forward to future content :)

Gotta throw some shade tho...37~42mpg.... Ouch... I mean... That's way lower than I thought. The M8 softails are getting above 45mpg and up to 50 even with stage 2 upgrades. Sad to see the bike go though, sounds like you loved it. Hey indian... this guy right here... you know he doing work for ya. Maybe toss him that bike back for good? eh? EH!?

160 miles per tank isn’t great ,but I’ve ridden w ppl that had to stop 50 miles before that. The 4 gallon tank is something that turns me off w the “new” Chief. One thing I do when on long rides is stop whenever I fkn feel like it, unless I’m hammering down cause I’m late, I don’t get mad if someone needs to stop. Injuries cause me to lose feeling in my hands & arms if I can’t shake it out. I also broke my coccyx (buttbone) in ‘96 so I squirm on the seat. Haven’t found a seat yet that I won’t have discomfort at some point. Also if u start doing long trip you will become very creative packing saddlebags. U will be surprised how much u can get in one. Sissy bar bags are an absolute too. Good review cuz, keep it on 2 wheels & hope to see u out there! “Edit” sorry I see now that you do long rides so u know how sh!, goes. First time I’ve seen your vids

I do this type of ride about 4 times per year. I have plans to do a cross country trip next year if it is possible at that time. To me, the Chief and the Harley version, the Heritage, are more for the 200-300 mile trips. The bigger bikes like the Challenger or the Harley Ultras or Road Glides are great on a 1700 mile trip.
