    @@Patrick-jq8jr so is my Norwood and is 10x the saw range road will ever think of being big difference between Chinese garbage and a real mill! Norwood Everything auto locks auto water have a real throttle and you can hang off the thing and it won’t flex… Also it’s not a re branded harbour freight Mill… Also the company doesn’t have a bunch class action lawsuits against them for there faulty products…

    Something I noticed on my mill is the saw head guide tubes that slide up and down on the front posts are quite a bit larger than the posts and there are no bushings to take up this slack, only the 2 t-handles that must be tightened before every cut. I made some shims from steel strapping which greatly reduced the wobble but still have to tighten the t-handles before each cut. Another improvement is to add a second plate at the bottom of the posts on the inside to box in the post bottoms. The supplied bolts in this location are not strong enough to resist stretching so these were replaced with 1/2" grade 8. I installed tubing spacers inside the posts to prevent collapse. I discovered that as long as I have adequate tooth set on the blades it eliminates most of the wandering up and down in the cut.

    I appreciate your response. I just like mine ... Early on mine had a wobble and I was able to level the tracks and it went right away. Did have to loosen all the bolts and retighten all the bolts. Little bit of a painting the tail but I would guess unless they're sitting on a prefab trailer that might be expected. I did see you use yours on later videos and that's nice.

    At the top where the plats go across connecting the posts, Add bolts so you have them spaced about 3/4 inch apart. When you drill the holes, make the sizes very accurate and use grade 8 bolts and self locking nuts. Add some small angle braces at the bottom to the roller legs, or get them welded by someone with a portable mig buzzbox. That would stiffen it up quite a bit. I think you get a really low price, if the machinery is all there, you can upgrade just a little and get something for occasional use.

    The head wobble is why woodmizer used the cable system on the old lt10s. It worked well but was overly complicated and expensive to replace. The side you pushed on pulled the other side even as you went.

  • @yoseflaurent3376

    @yoseflaurent3376

    That sounds like an interesting potential solution, although somewhat tricky and cumbersome to set up, and it will need regular control and adjustment to make up for eventual steel cable elongation.

    @@yoseflaurent3376 I'm sure there's pic's somewhere online (sold mine years ago) they had an adjustment on both cables but it was short. If I remember I got about 10000bft on a cable set and it had to be replaced. Again floating on memory and it ain't the best anymore, the "pull" front side cable connected to the back of the opposite side. Simple 2½ or 3in flat pulley mounts front and rear. today cable crimping supplies and the needed fittings are readily available and reasonably priced it wouldn't be terrible to mock up. They did use coated cable but I don't see the necessity. I've also been around mills like yours people try to "beef up", never really works and just adds pointless weight. If your cuts are tolerable personally I'd just run it. Maybe slow or speed up the feed rate and constantly keep a close eye on bolts in the frame coming loose. That seems to be the biggest thing I've noticed between mills, all welded assemblies vs bolted seem much stronger.

    @@maxr1401 Thank you for the advice and yes, well, I guess you are right, and all in all, their smaller models, like 22 inch, probably wobble somewhat less than their wider higher models.

    By the way, this wobbling you demonstrated here and complained about in previous videos, could certainly explain, to some extent, the fast wearing out of the rubber belts, at least the drive belt because of some bandwheel misalignment relative to the drive pulley, as the sawhead wobbles.

    Range road is nothing but a cheap entry level saw mill. You get what you pay for. You can do lots of modifications. Put bushings in behind the vertical slides to take up the slack. Change the guides to a Clark's type Its a bit of work but worth it

    I have the 22". It only really wobbles when youre pushing too hard. Not really an issue. The biggest problem ive had is wavy cuts. They say tighten the blades to 28 ft lbs of torque. This is not enough. I thightened the crap out of it and it rarely gets wavy now.

    Looks like you've cut a lot of board feet for someone who's running a piece of shit. The track is mild angle steel and the rollers are rounded. Of course they are going to make the angle track contour to them. Woodland does the exact same thing! These units are not the fanciest but they work great once set up right

    I purchased arrange road sawmill over a year ago for 2199 and mine works perfectly. Any issues I've had are on me. If you think you can own a sawmill and not do maintenance to it, you're a sad mistaken. You have to keep tracks level band saw blade needs to be replaced every four or five hours. Clean lumber. All these things. Just can't blame the machine

    And the "wobble" is all horizontal and doesn't matter a hoot. Looks like you've cut a huge stack of lumber in your more than one year old usage. You might want to also tighten your top and bottom bolts, now that you've finished your refund video. Maybe hide all the slabs, for the next one. I have the identical mill, and no way it flexes that much. Like all portable bandsaw mills, they're not designed as planer mills. They're designed to cut rough lumber.

    All I did was take my back brace off I had to add to get it to cut somewhat straight! Everything is good and tight and straight and level! I have to leave everything 1/4” thicker to plane out the imperfections over time that’s a lot of wasted wood. Horrible quality product give your mill a shake and see for yourself.

    @@lifeinthevalley14 I have, and it flexes just like any post style mill. Doesn't affect lumber quality to speak of at all. It only changes the angle of attack, as it's in the horizontal plane. 1/4" for any mill isn't too bad at all. That's 1/8" per side. Good, conscientious operators can get even better.
