Just ordered the 5022 today with the 5M trailer package, very excited for it's arrival in a week or so. Once some more of this snow melts it'll be used almost everyday.

Why did you tip the sawhead over at the end? For transport? I hope you drained the engine oil and gas first, or removed the engine?

@@dorisy3454 FYI not sure if you have spaced the rails but it is exactly 43 1/4 Center to Center so the head runs on the track properly. I don’t think the instructions show the 5036

@@backwoodsventures9217 Thank you. I guessed and placed at 43 but haven't tightened it down. Certainly appreciate this information. Are there any other blank spots? I saw in your video where the cable wench goes so that helps. I have the instructions but you're right there is no information on the 5036.

ive seen alot of reviews that they can be kind of flimsy and have alot of issues, whats the warranty on the units? are any spare parts included? can you do a video on the sawmill head and if shaking it causes it to rack and shift?

the price point, and 22hp option are both really appealing, but i dont want to complicate my novice sawmilling skills with machine issues that are hard or maybe cant be remedied and cause frequent issues that i dont have the skills to pinpoint

@@backwoodsventures9217 no, i used to live in Foxcreek AB, but im out on the east coast now seems the machine is missing some bracing in the carriage unit, if you look at the woodland mills unit it was a few extra gussets and crossmembers, but most importantly it has a huge piece of heavy plate on the back with a bend in it to stop the whole carriage from racking in any direction not hard to add for someone who welds/fabricates, could even just bolt it all together, but its nice to have kinks like that worked out before you buy the unit

Your understanding of the problem makes sense and seems pretty accurate. Reviewing the few available videos, I have seen some where you can observe some shaking of the sawhead, like if both side don't move forward together, as a unit. This may happen because the sawyer pushes too hard too fast instead of leaving the blade work its way forward, OR because some assembling bolts are not tight enough OR because the blade is too dull OR because something else is out of adjustment. Keep in mind that bolt-together carriages are always less stiff than welded carriages, there are drawbacks to this design but there are advantages as well, it is up to you to judge what you value most. Personally, I picked Range Road for three positive aspects: 1. No flings basic very simple design, easy to assemble, operate, adjust and maintain and/or modify. 2. The lowest price point amongst America designed comparable products. 3. The wider track which would enable you to upgrade to a 30-inch diameter log capability, that is four inches more compared to the entry line models of Woodlands or Hudson or SMG for instance. But what you pay is what you get, and if you feel insecure and are willing to invest much more, you could get a sturdier carriage from another manufacturer. My opinion is that RR sawmill is worth a try and a low-risk bet for the smallest model. I would be more careful if I was looking to invest for one of their larger models. You are right when saying that you could increase the RR carriage rigidity by adding some cross bracing. For about 50$ worth of steel bars and 10$ for a dozen large bolts, if you have a small press drill, that is very easy bricolage work, even for an inexperienced craftsman. A last reminder, any such modification automatically voids the manufacturer warranty but for the engine warranty which is separate.

@@AndrewBrowner I have a 22 and i put everything together then tighten up all the nuts and bolts, I took my time and got everything level and in place and mine seems to work well. I have seen a video of a guy that had all kinds of problems but I think he did'nt do a good job putting it together. I've got 40 hours so far and it seems to do great for the price I paid for it. It does shake a bit when pushing through but I need to change the blade, I'm still on the first blade. For the money I'm happy with it.
