When I was Moon's age, my mother was in chronic pain like you, and had to lay in a dark room most of the day. Now that I'm an adult we had a conversation about it, where she told me she felt so bad for not being a good mom to me during that time. While my memories were the opposite: I was able to explore and play, and become independent and feel safe in my own company, while knowing that my mom was always there, just behind that door, if I ever needed anything. I could also go cuddle with her if I needed. I think that no matter what, Moon will only have good memories of your time together. You both shower him with love, and he is growing to become independent and caring❤️ you are wonderful parents

My dad suffered from migraines my whole life. He would disappear into the basement for days, have vomiting spells, and we learned to walk quietly and would go stay with family and friends. His longest migraine was 41 days and it was over the entire month of my 18th birthday. As a kid, I didn't understand, but I have migraines now and it really is life hindering. His turned out to be blood pressure related and thank God he hasn't had one in years now!! Prayers for all!

Things that shine through about Moon: He is exceptionally bright. He is well adjusted. He knows he is well loved, and he feels secure. And like most little ones his age, he probably knows more about what's going on around him then Mommy and Daddy think he does, even if he doesn't quite know how to express it in language. All of this is coming around to say, if he's told once in awhile, "Mommy doesn't feel good, and needs some quiet," he not only won't be harmed by that, but it just might help him feel more secure. You're giving him a beautiful life; It will be okay :)

Watching this had me in tears! I have been a migraine suffer for over 25 years. I’m 49, I feel defeated sometimes and hearing you speak makes me feel that I’m not alone. I too, had MRIs, Cat scans and sleep apnea tests done. Thankfully nothing came back, all negative. Up until a year ago, I did a heavy metals detox cleanse and stop eating yogurt. I also did a non force chiropractic session. My life felt like it was given back to me! My migraines decreased by 70% and I’m not on medication anymore. I hope and pray that you will find that too ❤

My kids have grown up with a mom in bed, the main thing is to always be honest about your challenges because they can see something is wrong and not talking about it confuses them and they may think it’s their fault. Using age appropriate wording explain whats happening. Mine get it and they’re empathetic boys. They just see my situation as something that is, it is what it is and no drama. ❤

So, I really wanted to tell you about my niece. She is turning 8 in a few weeks, and she has grown up with her mom (my sister) suffering from several chronic illnesses (migraines being one of them). My niece is one of the most magical beings I have ever encountered. She is bright, compassionate, kind, loving, understanding, and sooo funny. I don’t know if she would have all those qualities if my sister wasn’t sick. She is kind to everyone she meets, she makes sure to be inclusive so that no one has to be alone, she even especially goes out of her way to befriend people who might not make friends easy or who have challenges that make it hard to build bonds and communicate with others. She sees everyone, and meets them where they are. Good days and bad days, she understands and adjusts and is happy to do whatever. This was more than I intended to write, but I really wanted to tell you that you are a good mom no matter what happens. You love your child and that doesnt change even if other things might, and if you give yourself some grace you will find your way and make this the best life you can for the whole family whilst still making room for rest and taking care of yourself ❤️

However, when she came out of the dark her focus on me, no matter, how short or small it was, made me feel so loved. My awareness of her illness bloomed my empathy for others. My mom experienced unexplained full body migraines. She even had to shut down her business because it really just takes over your life. I watched her suffer through this but I never once thought less of her as a mother and it didn’t ruin our relationship. I was much older than Moon but I was eventually able to understand what things she needed and how to help. I would have hated for her to feel like she needed to hide it from me. Moms are still human and it’s okay to show your kids that you’re in pain or sad or frustrated. They learn by example so thats how they will know how to navigate those feelings for themselves. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a KZread video before. Thank you so much for talking about this, I’ve had chronic migraine since I was 11 (just about to turn 27 now) and it feels so isolating. They have impacted every aspect of my life; relationships, friendships, education, career etc etc. I really understand your pain and frustration and send so much love and healing to you all. Ps. I’m currently taking Ajovy which is the monthly injection, it’s definitely helping but not 100%. I’ll definitely check out that book!

I’m so happy that you are finally feeling better and we’re able to share with us that is so powerful. I am finding more and more in life that the tradition western medicine doesn’t work for chronic illnesses or things like it. More and more wellness has been achieved by more holistic approaches. Thank you again for sharing. My mom has sleep problems and other health problems and she was always napping. It really doesn’t make a difference having health for your children. Thank you for being a great parent and all that you do! You go mama! ❤❤❤❤

If it wasn’t for my anti anxiety medication I would have been crying with you two. I spent many many many years having chronic pain and depression from the pain and my spouse didn’t support me. Joey, you are amazing and please continue to be a loving supportive husband and partner. There are so many people who don’t understand the pain we suffer. If they can’t see it they don’t believe it. When you tell your friends and family that you just can’t, they see it as you just won’t. I wish you all the best and send my love.

I am listening to you and also crying. You guys are wonderful. I sooo understand you. My chronic pain was psychological. I was going through this big grief with a tiny baby and a 7 year-old, trying not to let it affect them too much, but when you are breaking, it's hard. And it is so amazing when you have people like Joey in your life. Stay strong. I am so happy you are feeling better. Can't wait for the new content, but take care of yourself.

That love and light cannot be dimmed, and Moon will see it in all of your moments! Explaining to Moon your struggles on his level doesn't have to be burdening to him! It's a beautiful lesson to learn that life has highs and lows, beauty and struggle, but love never fails! ❤

I’ve been there with the chronic migraines. My childhood and adolescence was filled of daily migraines. I tried many treatments, and really what I felt finally has helped is taking some things out of my diet. I know it’s not the same for everyone, but I’m so glad you are finding ways that are finally alleviating your pain. Keep doing motherhood and being a good wifey, that is so much more important to us, than seeing your house transformations, as much as we enjoy it.

Wow.. I am a 22 year old who has been suffering from chronic migraines since I was in highschool (6+ yes). Hearing you open up about your experience gave me hope, I’m scared of becoming a mother one day because of migraines, and I’m scared to do a lot of things because of it… and the truth is migraine is a barrier for me building up a life for myself and it feels limiting to my potential. I appreciate your honesty and even if your not where you want to be, just think about how far you have come already in a few weeks, and the people in your life that can support you. I hope I can make as much progress as you have been and one day live in a house I own, with a partner I love, and a view of the beach! &ofc be able to raise a kid as great as moon ❤
