Ya no tye only watches i allow to keep scratches show of wear are old ..vintage watches that where like that before i got them specifically if the movement is unaffected and.fine
Honestly that can also happen over many years and many polishes!! Not just one bad polish! And if you got money to buy a roley im sure is no significant to tear and wear! Its natural at the end of the day

It depends on the watch imo. There's nothing wrong with sending in your Explorer after 5-10 years to be professionally polished and bring it some new life. Daily use - family heirloom watches ext... But it really should be many years in-between polishes 18k Gold watches are much more susceptible because of the softness
Wouldn't frequent polishing end up overpolishing a piece over time regardless of how well it was done?

Oooof that bad one hurts. My grandpas 72 gmt has a Rolex logo that looks like that it’s crazy to see a new one that is worn down so bad.
Best. Is to not wear it, just show it off on social media (😂)

Like say a tooth brush over a steel sink lol
Had my Sub serviced after 20 years and they did a decent light polish that removed 10 years of scratches.

Just use a polish cloth to polish your watch by hand, won’t significantly hurt.
@JacobSmith-tr7fu
Жыл бұрын
Definitely not a good idea… using a polishing cloth may be acceptable for a mirror polished surface but it will polish away the satin/brushed finishes on your watch to make the whole finish look the same. If you are going to use a polishing cloth make sure to tape off all satin/brushes finishes.
@sussar
Жыл бұрын
@@JacobSmith-tr7fu I think cover all the non mirror surface before polishing is basic knowledge😂for my case, I’ll first straight brushed surface by using a Japan rubber eraser, then tape off all the brush area, polish all the mirror surface by using cape cod polish cloth, the watch would like new after all the process unless there’s some dent on the watch.
With bigger power comes bigger responsibility And similarly luxury timepiece requires a certain standard of expertise
My watch is new but has micro scratches on the bracelet, I've only had it for a few months so is than normal? I need to take more care when grocery shopping, I try to cover it with my hoodie when packing and unpacking from metal trollies. That Rolex was almost grinded away, how many times until the 👑 is unrecognisable
The second one is also a older clasp so it's normal that it isn't that sharp as the first this is normal when you polish because due to polishing it makes it less sharp doesn't matter what you do.
Watches scratch very easily so if it's an investment take a picture and put in a safe. If you don't care and want to enjoy it then embrace the scratches.
Looks like two very new looking bracelets, watches are watches a machine to wear and use. On its first day of use it’s gonna have scuffs and scratches as hard to see with the naked eye maybe, but they will be there

The bad polish has to be several polishes over time, even if it's a modern looking ref. Nobody could be so rough with it to do that all in one polish...right? Yikes.

I don't know why would people polish a Rolex (I would keep my Grand Seiko scratch-free) because scratches in Rolex actually makes the watch more appealing and mature.
Ok,i am not ok with polishing new watches or super valuable pieces. If the condition is really bad i use light polish and lots of tape,a reference photo and after i clean the watch with special wipes. Don t polish . Battle scars are forever ,wear your piece with confidence

Luxury brands have dedicated after sales and repair centers. They are obviously more expensive than 3rd parties but they will replace your piece if they mess up the polish.
I send my watch to be polished every month and it always looks fine after 🤷♂️
What about platinum watch?
@stevene3476

Platinum is the toughest metal to polish but you don't lose material like Gold or Steel. If you take it to an experienced polisher, they will know how to restore it without compromising the shape and details.
Show the life of your watch! Battle scars have a story!
Im so poor i didn’t even know this was a thing!

Polishing is fine but over polishing multiple polishes and a bad polish will and does kill a watch
for this reason people prefer used to buy a luxury watch never polished, so they can ask to a professional craftsman or a car never painted :D
But what about my stainless submariner? That should be totally fine right? Because it's not a precious metal. If I'm stupid wrong about this then please let me know.

Stainless scratches easily. Gold is the worst and not for wearing unless you don’t care or only wear long sleeves. Ceramic is the only material that won’t scratch easily, in fact it will allow other metals to rub off on it.
@kelviecarlile1058
Жыл бұрын
@@someusername121 yes but once it gets sufficiently scratched having it polished by a qualified technician or at least someone who knows what they're doing won't wear away material the way that it would say if it were gold. Stainless should hold up for an occasional polish done right by a qualified individual. That was the plan for an almost daily wearer so that the material was more rugged in my mind. But it is stainless not stain proof so I just thought to make sure there isn't something I'm unaware of. I suppose the most important thing is who I decide to take it to for cleaning and polishing .

I’m never going to polish my Submariner. When I give it to my son, hopefully he will leave it as is other than having it serviced.
Polish and then ppf.

I would only have Rolex service do it. It isn't worth the risk.
Thats why you just put it in your safe and only put it on to stroke your ego at home.
if you get one thats like that(overpolished)send them to artist the geneva,drill holles wehere you can, very fine sandblast with wavy patern, rasta colored hands, and laser an alien head on the dail. call it newtrench art...the mothership is coming...nice name... or the smoker👍its getting early, i go to sleep😎
All that and they never put them side by side..
Polishing my vintage rolex daytona wheel dropped the value for the watch No matter how well it's done.
Don't listen to these guys. I don't know what they're talking about. If you Polish a worn out band it will look exactly like the one he shows you that's messed up has nothing to do with polishing has to do. With With the band the band is just been worn and shot. It's gold it's soft

I do not believe that this is a bad polish. If they had polished the crown down that far, it wouldn´t shine anymore because the shiny layer is only a couple of microns thic. Only if it´s a full body gold wristband, then it makes some sense. I would rather say the second one is a fake Rolex you used as an exagerated example. But i will gladly be educated. I never held a real Rolex. But i have some common sense. Anyway if someone polished my Rolex down that far i would polish their face with my brass knuckles.
Damn I didn’t think neither of them looked bad at all 😂
Everywhere these people flexing that makes just sick just at the search after the next excuse to talk about rolex and to act like their so good 👍 heroes
Disagree. If you weigh how much gold particles you lose when you polish its like $57 of gold you lose. Yeah its not a lot but the more you polish the more you lose gold. Just weigh the watch before and after polish.
Never mind i would not spend a penny on a polished watch.
You are reducing the price when you do polish cause you lost 1 or 2 grams of gold
They do that so the gold dust that falls get accumulated and they get free gold to sell later on after a few customers get their watched serviced! When i went to a watch shop in the bottom floor of Northridge Mall i took my Ferrari chronograph and after 6 months i had to use the chronograph and turns out they messed something up because the chronograph wasn’t timing right it was 2 sec behind and it would stop turning after 3 cycles also took my diesel ceramic watch to don Roberto’s and i asked for them to order a screw that is made for the watch because it came off and when i went back for my watch it wasnt ready and they just clipped a paper clip in replacement of the original screw and charged me 68 bucks! I paid but went back and smashed there display case and took a few things to teach them a lesson and dumped all there belongings in the gutter cuz i have no need for fake ass merch even if it was real it was t about money! It was principal

Every polish will get the price down. Ask that vintage watch collectors. In 10 years it will be half the normal one without polish.

Yes it does. Ask at any auctionhouse what is the price polished vs original condition. Polish is for flipping watches because normal people want used watch that looks brand new. PS: I know that there are also brands that do polishing on service but I always refuse that when sending my watches to service.
@auricgoldfinger8249

For a modern watch - lets say 15 years you will get a better price if it’s polished rather than banged up. Don’t get me wrong over polished is a killer but all comes down to the condition it was in pre polish. If a watch is in good condition ie just the usual swirls then a light polish won’t affect the value. Half the value is excessive. Especially for the mass produced models
No one can do a factory polish !!!! Only send to manufacturer anyone will butcher and diminish the value !!!
