yeah totally agree. as much as the market videos are exciting they tend to focus on the money and not the beauty of these timepieces. just imo

I lost my house in a fire in 2006 and along with it, my best friend, my dog. Among the many material items I lost, was an 1969 Omega Seamaster Soccer Timer Roulette I inherited from my father. I was wearing the 1969 Moonwatch. The house is still a pile of rubble and never thought that anything could be salvaged. This video has given me hope.

You know what’s crazy. This watch is definitely going up in value because of that decision with the dial. Insane watch and what a lucky guy, i hope he keeps that in his family forever.

I love restoration videos but they can be a bit long. This is nicely edited and still shows the level of detailed work that goes in. (Although it didn’t show the microscopic lubrication of the parts that I always find fascinating) Great job Peter. Great idea to keep the scorched dial!

Ive been on KZread since I was like 10 years old when Akon’s “soul survivor” and lil Wayne “go dj” came out and I’m now turning 29, this is by far one of the coolest and well produced videos with explanation; but not only that also telling a story and showing a beautiful piece of art like that is absolutely amazing. Absolutely love that y’all kept the burned dial to add to the art which is Rolex, keep pumping out content like this and I’ll keep watching great job guys 👏🏼👍🏼

And this, friends, is why you should use independent watchmakers instead of the Rolex Service Centers. The independent watchmaker will offer creative ideas and allow you to do whatever you want with your watch (within reason and within the boundary of maintaining their parts account), like save the fire-burned dial to make the watch special to you. Rolex? They won't even give you a phone call to discuss it. They're slapping a service dial on it and you're paying for it. Period - no discussion. With the Rolex Service Center, there is no personal interaction, no relationship, no care other than pushing your watch through an assembly line of prescriptive restorations and moving onto the next one. Watchmakers like Peter treat every watch as something special, because it is. Use the independent watchmakers. Rolex Service Center wouldn't even have attempted this restoration.

Brilliantly informative video. Loved watching the breakdown of the watch movement. A request for the future if you have time, it'd be nice to have an explanation/identification of the parts you're re-assembling and a bit of detail on what they do and how they do it.

Should ditch the music and make this more of an ASMR video. You can experiment with commentary on what you are doing or just settle for graphics explaining.

Very cool 😎 the dial was very much evenly burned and made that decision to keep it was key. Was great also to see the new movement many watchmakers are having trouble getting these parts and do not want to touch the new stuff. Glad you shared this!!! That’s what the relationship between watchmaker and client is all about, fun, challenging possible projects with great relationship!!
