Planned Obsolescence - the line "designed for failure" speaks directly to the title. (As an aside, the opening distorted power chord riff is BRUTAL - gold standard for mixing.) Pretty much everything off L'Enfant Sauvage has similar kind of imagery. Toxic Garbage Island speaks for itself, and Art of Dying is about how backwards modern culture is with regard to the futility of life. Oh, and don't forget Amazonia. Definitely check out the music video for that one.

I was raised on some of these guys. My dad always told me that if I kept listening to rock I would be brainwashed or even possessed. He said that the heavy drums came from tribes in Africa that used drum circles to call demons. He truly believed that if I stopped listening to metal that I’d be set free from a spell and come crying to him thanking him for helping me. We were never very close because he thought my lifestyle of listening to rock was leading me down a bad path. While I never partied did drugs and was a very well behaved polite kid all around, going to church and having generally good kids as friends. But me listening to rock was ruining my life according to him. On that note I’m going to see Shinedown in Little Rock Arkansas in a few weeks.

it is so weird that metal is still considered to be satanic nowadays. Like, okay sure, there have been satanic bands, and metal genres like Norwegian Black Metal, but now? I do not think that metal should be considered satanic. I am a Christian myself and for example, my parents thought that metal is satanic and sends a bad message, but like, I actually showed them some of the music I listen to and now they changed their mind, so I guess some people just like judging metal based on old ass stereotypes without even listening to the music.

I feel like there IS a little truth to metal being statanic BACK THEN, and even then its not the genre, its the lyrics. (And the "metal scream" originated from a black gospal band back in the 1920s called Five Blind Boys From Mississippi in the song called Our Father)
