@@thetimeteller Jory I am huge fan of yours, but I have to totally disagree with you on the opening on this VLOG claiming the referencing GP is a homage brand, you need to do some more research on this subject before making statements such as this as you are wrong on this occassion...call me bias as I am a collector of GP, despite what everyone thinks of them, yes thet depreciate, but I buy them well & I have nearly every significant piece in my collection (some of them I have multiple of as yes you can buy them well) & my favourite is the Constant Escapement LM which I have nearly every model. I 100% sure if you could review some pieces in my collection yoi would have a completely different view & opinion. I was given a Girard-Perregaux watch when I graduated 8 th grade in 1946. It is just a plain gold watch with my name engraved on it. I found a watchmaker who got it running for me and I gave it to my daughter. She loves it and wears it on special occasions.

yeah... I was thinking the same. I was researching GP and stumbled onto THIS. I have no idea why I opened his videos, he just loves ranting. I can understand that, easy way to get some free clicks/views, but in essence it's open underestimating and derogation of his audience. He has more videos like this on some other brands, I remember now. Jesus... I should stay away from this

I have actually visited to the factory many times, I collected my first GP Constant Escapement LM back in 2013 (now having 6 of them, about to purchase my 7th). Should Patek Philippe and vacheron constantin also move away from their “Royal Oakesque” ways? Because their nautilus and overseas watches (respectively) came years after GP was already manufacturing the Laureato. Which was the second watch to come out right after the Royal Oak.

The band is faceted stainless links. It's a beautiful watch, and in perfect condition. Old-timer watchmaker friend told me GP is one of the best movements.

But is important to me as I was from a family member who helped raise me and truly loved and respected me truly. So means more than money to me and helps tell a story about her.

Hi GP is in my opinion still a great watch . I found out that just the last couple of months watch 'screamers' on the internet are trying to put down . Reason i don't know . I think maybe because they listen to eachother without having a personal opninion. The champion is Paul Pluta , he screams about a lot . In his opininion Patek , Rolex are the brands to have . It's true they keep their value because of shortage and quality but Girard Perregaux is quality wise equal . Yes i own a couple of them . A Seahawk pro rose gold tourbillon . A WWTC in platinum with platinum bracelet and a day date Richeville in rose gold . I do own more important watches but the first 2 GP's are my favourite . From a safety view , when you go restaurant or other night time venue wearing a Rolex or Patek you will be spotted by everybody around you and tel calls will be made to make sure you come home without your watch and in a worse case even have to visit a hospital what i hope will not happen to anybody out there . Have a great holiday all.🌻🌞😘🌞🌻

I own a 39 jewel gyromatic GP from the 1960's. 1950's and 1960's were the golden age for Swiss watchmaking. The design and measurements of those watches were so much more practical than the over sized watches of today.

The obsession with large has definitely had an effect on functionality. Large watches are great for diving and they can be designed for withstanding abuse with their strong heavy cases. Unfortunately that now is dictating everyday watches which is sad. Many manufacturers still make small watches but they can be hard to source.

The laureato is a homage of the royal oak. Which is a unique situation because it was originally made back in the 70's I believe..back before the royal oak was what it is today. Fast forward to the resurgence of the royal oak today and they "re-issue" the laureato. If anyone gets a pass..its GP. As for their other models..they are absolutely beautifully done and extremely under rated

It is not a reinterpretation at all. They designed the watch from the ground up in the 1970s. The Octagon shape of the Laureato is really for watch proofing the movement into the case. As part of the process it is screwed into the case. People are mistaken for thinking they copied the RO.

I love GP watches but for some reason they are lackluster when it comes to holding their value. That's not really a complaint but an observation. They can cost a pretty penny when bought new but you can pick up some really nice used GPs for under $2k that would have costed over $7k new. My opinion is these GPs are under rated under appreciated and often under valued.

It is a 39 jewel Gyromatic movement with date, white dial, not the high beat model that came out years later. Understated in outward appearance but the movement is gold plated and really quite spectacular. I even found the original red leatherette box it came in while clearing out belongings from my childhood home. GP has a long list of innovations as you have stated in the video.

JORRY, Sports steel watches are what's in and has been for some time, these lovely watches and brands have to compete to survive you and I like dress watches but the overwhelming majority wants sports watches. When we see a watch with the Breguet hands do we say it's a copy you're ripping them off? Are Mercedes hands exclusive to Rolex? Integrated bracelets? Rolex had one and it was quarts. Is that a rip off of AP? Is the Chevy Camaro a homage or a rip off the Mustang? The Barracuda, the Challenger or the Javelin all represented sporty 2-door Coupes. Just food for thought. Good luck on your sale and your Channel.

And I don’t want to continue with divers. There everybody is technically an hommage. Question: the shoe and shirt you wear has the same design and format of a shirt produced 100of years earlier. Does that make it them hommages too? Not only you got the GP wrong on their involvement in the business but there is a lack on your definition what hommages are.

Uh yeah, 21,6K ain't a high-beat movement, not in 2019 anyway. The freaking 7S26 is not "high-beat." If it is, that term is basically meaningless. 28,8K is basically standard beat-rate these days, and 36K is high-beat, which is why Seiko reserves that name for their *actual* high-beat watches.

TDY Ranger Wait... do you mean “lug to lug”? Because that’s very different than “lug width”. Lug width is the width of the strap. Lug to lug is how “long” the watch is.

I have a similar watch it’s the b1876 with a brown dial and a numerical 12 at the top of it only. Box and papers etc. I have never ever seen anything like it. Especially with the brown face. Can I send you pics and you shed some light on it for me? Might sell it.

Timeteller.....we are brothers in these matters....you are both on point albeit so direct if not harsh on GP here....but as I watched and reflected upon this video several times now....it’s seems that, myself, and others upset by these comments about GP are in truth lovers of the Brand.....odd that they do not reach out to us in community for sound counsel as customers..... GP should be double or the trouble the market valuation it currently has.....

The disrespect... 😳 so every time piece with a Genta-ish aesthetic is a homage to the royal oak ? That would put the nautilus , Rolex oyster quartz and eve the Bvlgari octo finisimo not to mention the Vacheron Constantin over seas in that category . Gerald Genta collaborated on and of record with many many watch makers over his career in the time where highlighting the designers name wasn’t the norm, only the manufacturers name was mentioned , as for example the omega constellation in 2 varieties, what makes you so sure he had nothing to do with the GP laureto which was released only 3 years after the RO and 2 after the Baume et Mercier Riviera.

Jory I am huge fan of yours, but I have to totally disagree with you on the opening on this VLOG claiming the referencing GP is a homage brand, you need to do some more research on this subject before making statements such as this as you are wrong on this occassion...call me bias as I am a collector of GP, despite what everyone thinks of them, yes thet depreciate, but I buy them well & I have nearly every significant piece in my collection (some of them I have multiple of as yes you can buy them well) & my favourite is the Constant Escapement LM which I have nearly every model. I 100% sure if you could review some pieces in my collection yoi would have a completely different view & opinion. And I believe you would understand why I love the brand so much, as watch enthusiasts we tend to be passionate about the same things. All my respect as always TT Kind Rgds James
