I’m approaching 77. I’ve been taking collagen peptide supplements for several years. I have not experienced any adverse side effects. I think that it is helpful. I have been training with weights for about 65 years, and played lacrosse, tennis, and racquetball when I was younger. All joints are still functioning properly and most people guess my age as being 10 years younger than it is.

Coffee accelerates aging in the skin. You are wasting your time and money by adding collagen to it. Stop coffee, keep your collagen supplement, drink 64 oz-80 oz of water a day, do a little cardio every day or other day for blood flow, and watch how much better your skin looks. Coffee/Caffeine is depleting; people don't realize it because it's normalized- just like smoking/nicotine used to be.

I began taking collagen for 7 or 8 years ago in hopes of easing joint pain. I had to stick with it at least 6 months before I could honestly say it was helping, but it DOES help. I've used Vital Proteins marine collagen peptides for about 3 years. The reason for starting was the claim that it might help with pain. I have to say it did to a very significant degree. My nails went from very ridged and brittle to close to their youthful strength over about 3 months. The change was observable as the improvement progressed from the roots. Visible improvement in the skin were in the form of a persistent flaky, dry patch on my forehead stopped being dry and flaky among some other things. I do feel a little "works for me"ish about it, but I'm ok with that.

I am in my mid 50's and now trying the Zena Liquid Collagen that I picked up from Costco. I've considered it in the past but it was $35.00 for 60 servings so when I found it at Costco for far less I decided to go for it. I paid $23.00 for a 90 servings bottle at Costco. My husband and I both take it. The flavor reminds me of the bubble gum/berry flavored pink antibiotics for children. I've noticed some changes, but I will not give a full review until I've had it for at least 6 months. The info on it .... Non GMO, Dairy free, gluten free, 5000 mcg of Biotin 2500 mg of type 1 & 3 Collagen, Verisol Bioactive Collagen Peptides, Purified water, natural flavor, malic acid, citric acid, monk fruit extract (lou han guo), sodium benzoate (preservative), potassium sorbate (preservative), stevia leaf extract.

I did a search of oral collagen for joints. I stick to studies from NIH or other reputable sources. There are some recent studies of various forms of collagen and effect on joints. It was interesting to learn that type 2 native collagen showed an antinflammatory effect in the joint, whereas hydrolyzed collagen did not, though it had other benefits. Since I deal with lifelong inflammation in my joints, this was of interest to me. I am taking both hydrolyzed collagen plus the native type 2 collagen to see if joints improve. Too early to tell. I do think I get a bit of GI upset. I’d trade that for being in less pain.

I think genetics have a lot to do with your skin… My great grandmother had such nice skin at 97, that medical students came and photographed her for medical journals… I am trying to help with the sunscreen and the actives. I do use and like collagen. I don’t use it for the possible benefits. I like that it makes my coffee frothy. I did take collagen over the span of three months (powder soluble in water, drinking it). Target was broad: possibly improving skin, hair, nails, joints. The very visible results were on the nails of my thumbs. Before: Thin nails, my thumbs‘ nails are usually wavy from using them and general living. After: I could see they actually stopped being wavy as they grew. Other nails got stronger too. No other change occurred that could have affected it. I ran out, didn’t purchase another right after and I could see how my nails turned a bit wavy again. I bought a new package yesterday.

I stopped taking it for a short while and I noticed a (negative) difference which made me start adding it back to my coffee. I don't do much for skincare health, so at least it's something I can easily do.

I take a fiber supplement daily and the makers of it have one with collagen added in it. I love this particular supplement because I get my fiber, there’s no added sugar and the collagen helps with my joints. I have really good skin already and haven’t seen any skin benefit but I’m definitely less creeky in my joints.

I'm not buying this "Roxadustat contaminated collagen" claim. In fact, the ITIA stated "The tribunal accepted Halep’s argument that they had taken a contaminated supplement, but determined the volume the player ingested could not have resulted in the concentration of roxadustat found in the positive sample." More likely, Halep was taking that drug on purpose. She and her coach are just blaming a dietary supplement.

I have been taking Vital Proteins for a little over one year now. I am a senior. I began taking it with 0 expectations. Also because of the high cost, I have been taking half of the recommended dose. I noticed no improvement with my nails, very minimal hair improvement but it is hard to tell because I have very long hair. Skin...hard to say because I began a skin care regime 6 months ago which could attribute a benefit to my skin, but it does look better, but don't know exactly what improved it. All that said, I have noticed a big improvement in my joint pain. It was very slow to happen, but I would say about 5 months into the collagen I noticed something was different about my body and suddenly I realized I had no pain in my knees whatsoever. I think it is fair to attribute it to taking the collagen. My husband also noticed a reduction in joint pain.

This is a silly video. You are saying collagen supplementation is bad because someone might have an allergy and someone might get an adulterated product. These things have nothing to do with the safety and efficacy of collagen peptides. Nestle owns Vital Proteins and the company has an unmatched safety profile and the products are completely safe and greatly beneficial. Just know the brand and don't buy "Vetal Proteins" the knock off.
