I worked at Disney World in 2002. During orientation the story we were told went as such: The owner of the house was a sea captain and the last member of an old and wealthy family. Returning from one of his adventures he brought a young woman who he intended to marry. The night before the wedding an only family retainer Madam Liotta lured the bride to the attic to find something old for her dress. Liotta then sealed the bride in an old sea chest to suficate (she was trying to protect the family...possibly from a woman below the captains station or possibly from a black widow). The next morning the Captain found the body, rea.ized it was Liotta's doing and beheaded her, before sealing all the wedding guests in the house to suficate like his lost love. Then escaped... at the end of a rope. Yes he is the ghost host.

Perhaps the reason that the mansion has so many ghosts from different places and time periods is because of the objects the Hightower family claimed on their expeditions? What if some of those artifacts were stored in the mansion and potentially linked to spirits?

The basics are at www.themeparktourist.com/features/20140621/18738/10-disney-rides-connected-secret-society and include the George Hightower connection. They do leave off some of the other connections in Tokyo DisneySEA... In Fortress Explorations is a mural depicting the sinking of Atlantis. Leading up to the fortress are ruins left behind by it. But the answer to what happened to Atlantis is actually found in the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride.

I love the theory Constance Hatchaway is the owner. It would explain why all her things are in the attic (to hide it so no one would find out her past). For the stretching room portraits when the ghost host says guests it might mean those people owned the mansion at some point and maybe he says guest because none of them lived there long. Or maybe the real owner passed and never left the mansion so from the ghost host's point of view none of the mortals who owned the mansion didn't really own the mansions.

Huh, I like your idea of Constance being the sole owner of the Haunted Mansion. It does make sense, especially with one of the original portraits in the stretching room featuring her on top of Hightower's gravestone. I've been pretty sure, however, that it was Gracey who owned the mansion. I think it does make sense about what the term "master" meant back in those days, but I heard the audiobook narrated by Kat Cressida called, "Nuptial Doom," that tells the story of the sea captain Gracey and his fiancee (sometimes known as Emily), the original ghost bride with the candle and glowing red beating heart. I thought this was also further solidified with the Eddie Murphy movie; I was not really a fan of that movie, but I did like the Gracey storyline and how the audiobook tied in with that. And since I'm one who remembers the original ghost bride from when I was a kid in the 90s, that's the bride I know best, and I see as a different character from Constance. To still tie Constance in with the original bride's storyline, however (because I do agree that Constance's connection to the mansion makes sense), I can see her and Hightower as maybe taking over the mansion some several years later, after the demise of its original owner, that being Gracey. I can see maybe Constance and Hightower being wealthy enough to buy and renovate the mansion or something, and then from there, Constance becomes the new ghost bride of the mansion after she dies. Who knows, maybe they heard it was haunted before, but they didn't believe the story and bought the mansion partly as a publicity stunt, "Oh, look at us wealthy people, we're so cool we bought a 'haunted' mansion and we're daring to live in it!" :P I still miss the original bride, but I can still see the mansion as having a few different owners before it being abandoned once and for all and it becoming a retirement home for other ghosts all over the world. Now, as for the other people in the portraits of the stretching room, I don't think they were owners, but I do wonder how they got there. Since the Ghost Host says they're "some of our guests, as they appeared in their corruptible mortal state," now I'm wondering who they were. Were they visitors to the mansion, friends of the owners, early tourists? Also if they came in their "corruptible mortal state," I always wondered as a kid, did the ghosts already haunting the mansion before them, or some kind of bad spirits, drive them to do the crazy things that got them killed, that maybe drove them to want to die? Is that part of a curse of the mansion, the owners who haunt the mansion drive others to join them in death, so their curse will spread in a kind of chain reaction, kinda like The Grudge? Anyway, yeah, great reflection on what we have of the source material of the ride. :)

I really like your theory about Constance Hatchaway! I was just thinking about what you said about plot holes, the one you mentioned about what the Ghost Host says in the stretching room about guests in their mortal form, I don’t know if this is helpful at all, but if it means the “guests” are the ghosts at the mansion now, maybe that would get rid of the problem of calling her a guest because maybe when she died she lost ownership of the mansion and lives there as a guest now that she’s a ghost!

I had an idea that the hatbox ghost was an accomplice in Constance’s murders as he would be in charge of getting rid of the evidence. Since Constance got rich off her latest marriage, the hatbox ghost demanded more to keep his mouth shut which led to Constance killing him in the same way she murdered her husbands. It could explain why he is located right outside Constance’s room on the ride and why his specific scene is that his head moves to his hatbox.

Love all of your videos. Especially bloopers and haunted mansion. Is the music you used for the haunted mansion from the other KZread video public domain? I’m asking because I’m planning on decorating haunted mansion cookies for my channel this Halloween and would love to use it in the video.

This video is amazing, but what about the Haunted Mansion in Disney World?? Is it the same story, just changing the fact that George and Constance moved to somewhere in the Northeast US (i.e. Vermont, Massachusetts, etc...)??

Separate parks, separate stories. It's kind of like... I don't know... The Justice League cartoon and the Justice League movies. Both Justice League, but different stories, different versions of the characters.

To be honest, if I could purchase a smellitizer for my house that made it smell like The Haunted Mansion, I would buy it. I want to have its scent flowing throughout the rooms of the house. The mansion has a scent that can make me feel like I'm in another world. I like to think that I can walk into a room and smell a ride from Disneyland.

I remember going to The Winchester Mystery House, and the tour guide told us about how after going to The Winchester, Walt Disney was inspired to make The Haunted Mansion! :) But it was mostly inspired with the ride in Walt Disney World

The fact the ghost host says ”guests” instead of ”previous owners” is probably because he died not knowing that Constance and George owned the mansion. He was probably hired by someone else other than Constance or George.

In the queue line when entering the mansion, there is a tombstone inscribed with "in memory of out patriarch, dear departed Grandpa Marc". I'd imagine he was the owner, at least at one point.
