I don't know if it's still Cannon already and they are so cool Disney haunted Mansion Port transport ghost is that actually the ghost of the wife of the groundskeeper and was the reason why he stayed dependent being scared scared all the time.

There used to be “pop-up” ghosts in the attic at Disneyland. I called them the Howdy-Do ghosts because every time they popped up, they said “I do” in very creepy different voices and one of them sounded like the ghost said “Howdy-do!” I used to love the idea of one of the ghosts being, like, super hyped to greet all the new guests.

Yup. And the ones coming out of the piano? So you can technically say since they're infinite you can add them up to 999. 😂 Plus as he says at the end of the video, you can count all the faces in the wallpaper.

Theory: Leota opened a spiritual vortex/nexus connecting all Disney Mansions. That's why the same ghosts are in different parks at the same time. Add in the international park ghosts and subtract the known duplicates and you might be close to 999.

I always assumed Neil Gaiman was right in The Graveyard Book: the majority of ghosts in a graveyard sleep most of the time, and only a minority show up for meetings and parties and omnimover tours. Maybe that's where the rest of the haunts are?

Early concepts for the mansion script said the raven was possessed by something that was looking to "better" itself by possessing a guest, so I think it should count.

I may have another attic ghost for you, and this one may be real. I used to be an Imagineer working at the Disneyland Design Studio. One of my bosses, Bob Baranick and I, heard about an alleged “haunted trunk” that was being used as a prop at Disneyland’s Main Street Station. We heard about this trunk from one of our colleagues, who claimed to have seen evidence of its haunting that so terrified her that she refused to tell us what she saw, or go anywhere near it. Bob and I thought that any trunk with a reputation like that should not be decorating the Main Street train platform, but reside in the Haunted Mansion instead. So, early one morning, before park opening, we swiped the portmanteau style trunk from Main Street and installed it in the attic of the Mansion. This would have taken place sometime in the late 1990’s. Can’t remember exactly when.

Colleges who claim to have seen evidence of it so anywhere near I thought the truck was Sprint like should not be main Street train platform, but reside in the trunk from the attic of the Mansion . This would have took him place sometime in the left 1990s. Can't remember exactly when .

The Hell Hound is a ghost. It is said that it was Master Gracy's dog. "Hell hound" is just it's nick name. It's full name is Grand Stygian Hellhound of the Hudson. He died in 1942 when a tree got struck by lightning and killed him.

I always figured that was just a before and after situation, where you’re seeing all the ghosts coming out, and then those same ghosts are the ones we see in graveyard.

There's also whoever's playing the floating instruments in Madame Liota's chamber, but I suppose some or all of those might be the ones she mentions in her chant.

This is so fun!! Ive never tried to count them all myself, but I have thought about who counts and who doesn't... I think there are a few that may or may not count too: -the ghost projections that fly up in the graveyard scene (like several others mentioned) -the instruments floating in Leota's seance room are theoretically played by ghosts -the ghosts you see walk past at night from the exterior (WDW) -the Not-So-Scary characters Madame Carlotta, Madame Renatta, and Broome the Butler -the Cadaver Dans (I think their story is that they live at the mansion also) -each Doom Buggy may be powered by a ghost -each guest ilmay count as a newly dead ghost, according to the theory that as you tour the mansion, when you get to the ballroom scene you are pushed out a window (hence why we turn backward as we fall to our death) -each cast member may be a ghost

According to the Ghost Gallery story, the spirit that walks by the windows at night in WDW is supposed to be Little Leota (the “Hurry Baaack” ghost). Apparently she was an insomniac in life who spent her nights wandering around the mansion, looking for trouble.

You missed the revenant in the coffin trying to get out. But all in all the list was impressive. Very good job.

The projected ghosts on the walls of the graveyard go on forever, so you could cheese it and say that that's the rest of the ghosts.

Don’t forget the ghost wiggling the door knob at the beginning as well as the bulging door.

You should definitely count the raven on the casket. In the story the raven is spoken of in this way..."“Apparently, the restless spirit of an old nag has taken possession of that poor wretched raven’s mortal being. Be on your guard-it may want to better itself!”

What about the flying ghosts in the cemetery. There's never enough Haunted Mansion content on this channel.

A parasol was meant to shade you from the sun, which is why quite a few are lace. Because they usually spin them, the sun isn't constantly hitting you at the same spot.

OMG! I remember when they added that fancy new and interactive queue area that you so matter-of-factly pass, just as many will never remember it NOT being there as those younger than about 40 now wouldn't. I and some fellow English tutors from an online tutoring service in Florida who frequently pulled the graveyard shift together dressed up and went to do Disney Halloween together the first year it opened, before we knew about the changes, and we were having so much fun with poetry we totally forgot we were in an actual line rather than the attraction itself! Then people started gathering to watch us being poets who didn't know it, and soon flow INTO the mansion stopped, until somebody came to remind us to move along, please; the dead were waiting. That was so much fun! I'd forgotten all about that until watching this video, so you get a thumbs up from me!

Great video, did you count the ghost who moves around in the windows and can be seen from outside every few minutes? What about the ghost images/shadows that are projected all the wall?

Wow! You are MY GOD! I Cannot further express how awesome this video is and how much work you put into it ... much appreciated! The only part I think you missed were all the ghost flying into the air via projection. Granted it is a projection on a roll it would be difficult to count. That is one of my favorite illusions. When I first went on the mansion as a kid in the 80's, I didn't get scared until I saw that. I remember thinking "oh no! We are in real trouble here!" To me they all looked like 999 ghosts set loose!

Aren't there also slots to a mausoleum inside the one at Walt Disney that you go past as you move past Little Leota (or around that point)? Some glow faintly in a purple color if I remember correctly, but it's easy to miss since it's dark and one may not pay attention as the buggy is facing forward at that point.

The in-and-out between accent & no accent throughout the entire video kept me on my toes 😂😂

Can't believe you didn't count the clearly haunted trees but you did count a maintenance door haha Also, you might be able to count the ascending spirits in the graveyard scene the same way you counted the ghost heads coming out of the organ, there's gotta be some sort of mount over a projector with a finite number of ghost-shaped holes

Possibly a bit of a basic answer, but the Ghost Host is my favourite character on the ride. I wish I knew as many death, ghost and horror puns as he does.

I always thought it was the “for” meaning of para as in “for water” or “for sun” . Stop probably makes more sense though because that’s it’s exact function

Petition to add Anne Boleyn and Kathryn Howard to either ride anywhere (probably the ballroom. If Cleopatra can be there, I don't see why Anne and Kitty can't). They can be having a conversation as their heads take turns disappearing.

Thanks so much for putting this video up! I LOVE the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie as a kid, and was excited to visit the exact ride when I went with my aunt and cousins. Being so close to Halloween, Disneyland was so HOT, and so CROWDED, you couldn't move a step without bumping into the person in front of you! Plus, they overwrote the ride by making it into A Nightmare Before Christmas debacle, which ruined it for me as they stuffed the ride with Christmasy wreaths and baubles, plus Jack Skelengton himself. I'm not sure what they were trying to do (in 2012), but there should've been a limitation of people walking into the ride if they wanna make it spooky! I couldn't see much of anything in the Stretching Room, and just BARELY caught a glimpse of the hanging corpse that was our Ghost Host, before it changed to a cartoonish viewpoint of Jack, Sally and a horrible mix of both worlds! It's sad, because I can't visit during an 'off-season' due to money constraints, so my only Frightful Delights of what should be a fun experience is wonderful videos like you! Happy Haunted exploring! 🦇🦇🦇

Former Disneyland HM cast member here (Feb-Nov 2003): There’re 5 ravens throughout the attraction, and originally, the raven was supposed to act more of a “narrator” guiding you through the mansion.

At Disneyland, isn’t there a crypt wall next to the queue, the side of the Railroad berm. If I remember correctly, it’s next to the queue portion that only used on busy days. I don’t think this was counted

Actually, the original idea was that the Raven would be the narrator, but, when the imageneers listened to the recording, they found that it wasn't realistic so they came up with the ghost host. Tony Baxter said himself that the Raven sounded like a human trying to imitate a Raven. That's when they hired Paul Frees to voice the Ghost Host.

Did you know that the Ravenscroft guy was the voice of Tony the Tiger?

Haunted Mansion my all time favorite ride. Crazy Cat Lady is named Lady Hephaestia. Have a theory that she is a shape-shifter and later appears as the Raven (with the red eyes) that follows guests around. In the painting she has red eyes. Can't wait to go back to Disney World and ride the Mansion a couple of times.

Nice job, dude!!! I can’t help wondering if you know about the cast members that used to grab at you. I remember a knight in the early 1990s vividly…because I was jumpy and didn’t expect him there. (I may have hit the poor guy reflexively.). This was at Disneyland. They had him right near the coffin zombie guy…I think on the left as I recall (to scare you as you looked to the right at the coffin.) For years afterward I literally sat on my hands at that point to avoid bopping some poor cast member, but I never saw him again…

it’s my headcanon that the lady who’s birthday everyone is celebrating is constance. it would explain why it seems like everyone in the mansion is there due to her being the owner and all. i also say it’s her because of the hair and general build between the stretching room portrait and the birthday girl. lastly, and this is a bit of a stretch (haha pun), but i think she might not be celebrating her birthday but rather her death day! no evidence there besides the portrait ghost and the birthday ghost looking kinda old but more just a fun idea.

The “Birthday Ghost” is named Victoria Abigail Boufont (or Madame Tangerine accounting to the Ghost Gallery) and as legend has it, she interrupted one of Madame Leotas seances, infuriating the medium. She cursed Madame Tangerine, that in 13 years she would DIE at her own birthday party…well the curse came true but Tangerine partied on well into her afterlife!! She is the great Aunt of Master Gracey. I think the hairstyle is a family trademark…but making your own stories and lore is fun too!! *taken from the haunted mansion wiki

You counted the line “Wizards and Witches wherever you dwell, give us a hint by ringing a bell” as a ghost in the HM. I’m pretty sure this is supposed to be in reference to any wizards or witches in the audience of the ride since the bell wringing sound comes from the doom buggys’ track.

Is Medusa a single ghost or does she count as a multi-conjoined ghost of some sort because of the snakes?

Kudos to you for what I imagine was a tough job, counting all those ghosts up. I would not ask you to go back and count them, but if you added the ghosts flying up in the air in the graveyard, plus all the eyes in the wallpaper you might just get to that magic 999 number.
