Haunted Disneyland | Part 1 - An Eyewitness Story

Ойын-сауық

Disneyland is 65 years old, and over 650 million people have visited it so far, it's also employed around a third of a million Cast Members since then as well. Such a high concentration of people in one area over a matter of time like that is bound to find itself still visited from beyond the grave. I'm not here to convince you whether or not ghosts are real...but in time for this year's Halloween season, I am ready to share some of my most secret experiences which I believe was paranormal in nature.

Yes folks, this is a RE-UPLOAD. My previous video had a problem with the music, it was too quiet and people couldn't hear it. And because I'm kind of a perfectionist I decided to fix the problem and re-publish it. Sorry for the inconvenience! Also: like I said in this video, you don't need to believe the stories. I don't expect you to, I have nothing to prove, I get nothing out of you believing the stories. After all, I think everyone knows I can't scientifically prove these things happened, so just relax and enjoy the Halloween entertainment. People have a lot on their minds and themed videos like these provide entertainment.

The Golden Horseshoe is indeed the most haunted place in Disneyland. It’s supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of a little girl, a deceased former Cast Member, and Walt Disney himself! In fact, when Walt was alive, he had a box there, just above the stage.

I remembered hearing a story in a podcast about a young boy that went to Disneyland with his family in the 1970's, he lost his family and started crying and he said a older gentleman came to him and said "there there, there's no crying allowed in Disneyland " the young boy explained to the older gentleman that he lost his family and the man escorted him throughout the store(I think it was the emporium on main Street. ) Finally after a couple of minutes, the boy found his parents and the parents explained how they were worried and had been looking for him. The young boy told his parents and the cast member there that a older gentleman had helped him and when he turned to show his parents the man,he was not there. But there was a picture on one of the shelves and he said: "that's him" the cast member chuckled and replied "that's impossible that's Walt Disney, he passed away a few years ago,but he said: "nope, that's him." The young boy later found out in his life that he could sense spirits and became a medium and he spoke about his many stories on a podcast.

I used to work as a tour guide at a historic haunted prison here in Ohio and can completely relate to these stories. I was never a believer until I took that job. Once you get used to working in a heavily active environment you begin to question everything in the environment around you. It's definitely an experience I'm glad I had, but I can't say I really miss that aspect of the job. Ghosts are more confusing to me than scary. They made my work harder.

Absolutely! People ask how I wasn't too scared to go back, but the more activity you experience the easier it is when you see the next thing and the next. Not that its any less scary...but you become used to working in an environment that surprises you. Im sure you can relate to that.

I worked front desk at Disneyland hotel in 2004. I never worked the late shifts so I didn’t “see” anything. But in the daytime when i had go up to the guests rooms, I always felt like I was being followed in the hallways. Super creepy feeling because there wouldn’t be any guests on the floor in the daytime and the hallways were long so no place for a person to hide. Among the cast members the rumor was Mrs. Disney was haunting the hotel because that was her pet project. She picked the decor and the cast uniforms.

I have had felt someone cold grab my hand twice on Space Mountain as I was riding alone on the front row in late 2018. Only an asian couple were in that rocket and they were on row 4. I was alone and it was 8-ish AM so the park was still relatively quiet. I then remembered the legend of Mr. One Way but unfortunately the camera did not catch anything in the empty seat. Only Ghost Experience I have had at Disneyland so far in my 15 years of being an AP Holder.

Yes if you ever stay closer to closing time, you should try to visit the Golden Horseshoe before it closes for the night (it used to close an hour or half hour before the park back in my time there). And if I were you, I would go in before it closes, have a seat upstairs away from other people and just try to sense the atmosphere...it might help if you sit closer to the door of Freddy's room lol. There are only two places that I know of that are legitimately "haunted" at DL. Walt's apartment above the firehouse on Main Street. It's no secret, and it's been pretty well documented. That's why the lamp in the window of the firehouse is always left on. To remind CMS that Walt is still in the park. If anyone ever turns it off, it will turn itself back on. The second is The Golden Horseshoe. This is one that nobody talks about. There are ghosts in The Golden Horseshoe. In 1978, and older couple from Downey, CA who made a weekly trip to Disneyland (you could pay a general admission without tickets) to visit friends and have lunch at the Horseshoe. They were huge fans of Betty Taylor and Wally Boag, two of the show's headliners. Betty would always greet them by name during the show, they always sat in the same spot. This time, during Betty and Wally's "Pecos Bill" number, Wally tried out some new physical schtick that was so funny that the older gentleman went into cardiac arrest. The show had to be stopped and park medics were right there to take him to the nearest hospital, but he passed away before they could get him out of the building. Every Sunday afternoon, the Laughing Man has been heard at the table in the box to the left of the stage ever since. I've heard it myself. The blonde girl and "Fred" or "Freddie" or "Bud" are mostly legends, started by cast members to explain away unexplained occurrences. But there IS another ghost in the Horseshoe, that is believed to be that of Don Novis, the original Emcee and Irish tenor of The Golden Horseshoe Review. Mr. Novis also recorded the song, "Love is a Song" for the film, BAMBI. He performed at the GH from opening day until 1964, and was, unfortunately, a terribly unhappy man. His going to work for Walt was seemingly the only thing that brought him any joy. That is the heavy spirit that lurks after closing.

Well the laughing man and Don Novis sure explain some things. But my coworker and I HAVE seen the little girl. She and I both saw her together and several times I've heard the little girl running around the stage, pushing the curtains, giggling. Guests have said they've seen the girl. I know she's not legend.

Hey Alex, i went to Los angeles last years for my first time in Disneyland from the 7th to the 14th October, and i knew that the 14th October 1966 was the Official last visit of Walt in the park, and during this day i went to the photoshop on Main street for the question/trivia game, and ask the cast member if she knew when was the last visit of Walt, she of course new the years but not the exact date, i give her the answer and she directly tell me this " Maybe you wont believe me, but, this morning i pass next to Walt's appartement, and i feel like someone was looking me, and i knew i was Walt", i don't know if it's true or not but i can share my feeling during this day, i could feel that something was in the air, that was not there in the entire vacation, so maybe Walt was this us in the park.. And nothing in commun with the subject but have your ever been to Disneyland Paris ? For far as i know (because i was a catsmember there and still live next to the parc) this parc don't have ghost story :/ Thanks a lot for your works i can wait for more !!

My mom showed me a thread on Facebook in a Disney group she's in about the spirits of Disneyland, and someone in the comments mentioned the little blonde girl in the blue dress. They said their cousin and them were walking by Nemo late one night when nobody was around. At the same time, both of them jumped because they thought they briefly saw and felt a little girl walk between them, but she disappeared. Another commentor said they knew someone who used to work at the park and would sometimes see the ghost or impression of Walt Disney just casually walking around. That's what led me to looking up videos about the hauntings. It's so fascinating.

@@AlextheHistorian As the Haunted Mansion would say/sing, "Happy Haunts materialize & begin to vocalize. Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize." Clearly, the little blond chose to acclimate/attach herself to the last family eating at the Golden Horseshoe for the evening (How the family casually ate with her sitting with them without saying anything whilst in her presence also raises suspicion, especially once the parents later told Alex & his coworker that they didn't have a daughter & that they had only came in with their son, yet not one of the 3 of them - neither the mom nor dad, or even the son - were seemingly alarmed that some mysterious blond girl they didn't recognize was just randomly joining them at their table without any known parental/caregiver supervision) & upon hearing mention of her being discussed out of earshot (since it would make sense for spirits to have extra-sensory hearing, which is likely how they're able to get away with making noise or pulling light pranks on "foolish mortal" Cast Members that are alone with them, only to go suddenly silent whenever the Cast Members actively attempted to investigate the ethereal happenings), decided to have a bit of playful fun with Alex & his coworker by striking up a conversation that brought up the question as to if the classic Frontierland restaurant was, indeed, genuinely haunted & after Alex & his coworker apparently tried to calm her concern to avoid possibly upsetting her (as they had innocently yet mistakenly assumed she was legitimately part of the family she was sitting by, as she had stayed with the parents & their son the whole time) or else, possibly getting in trouble with company management by bringing up the resident spooks during operating hours (given that talking about suspected ghosts when they're not in any manner associated with New Orleans Square might make actual guests visiting the park feel uneasy/paranoid), she flatly subtly informs them of her otherworldly existence by outright telling them that she's seen a ghost (with each of them blissfully unaware at the moment that the girl herself most likely is the exact same spirit they themselves had been privately, covertly talking about).

@TherealRNO ...I dont know if you're asking a question, restating what happened, or mocking me...because there's a whole lot of redundancy in your comment. All I can say is: it was a situation we couldn't explain. The family didn't see her, she seemed only visible to us, and we were the only people she interacted with, and she vanished from the restaurant. We were standing by the downstairs door after our encounter with her and she never left the restaurant, not before or after the family of three. I can't explain the logic behind what had happened, which is why it made it to this video.

@@AlextheHistorian I was not trying to mock you (my humble apologies if it came out sounding that way), nor really asking a question (although, you did clarify that you & your coworker were the only ones to see the blond girl ghost, which thereby explains how the family didn't register her presence right next to them, which I was slightly confused by at first, given that they surely would've said something to you or your coworker if they had seen her also, unless they refrained from doing so to avoid possibly appearing crazy for talking about strange ethereal manifestations; ~Fair Warning: Light playful teasing ahead~ Now, how the family in question didn't quizzically raise eyebrows your direction & inwardly question your sanity for talking to an paranormal entity they themselves couldn't physically see [or maybe they did, but they still naturally respected your dignity enough by not broaching the strange subject, at least not until you directly asked them about the girl as they were leaving] also boggles the mind), I was simply merely reiterating what happened before making a brief statement/analysis/assessment of the situation at-hand, meanwhile prefacing it with lyrics from _Grim Grinning Ghosts_ for some light-hearted fun as a lead-in.

The family didn't see us talking to the little girl because we were in the corner of the room, behind their view, about 15 feet away. It also wouldn't have been easy to hear us speaking, over the background music of the restaurant and over their own interactions and eating. Most people at Disneyland don't even notice the presence of a busser because our job was to stay out of sight and out of mind unless needed.

I worked security overnight at a Six Flags park in the early 2000's. I was going through the park one night, as I approached an area that was made to look like the Yukon. I start hearing what sounds like humans screaming coming from in there. Came around the corner and it turned out it was too gigantic raccoons fighting over a bag of trash. At that point they stopped screaming at each other and in unison turned looked right at me. I just held up my hands said have a good night and turned and walked the other direction. I've experienced a couple other incidents late at night there, but for some reason more than likely it was the turn and looking at me in unison action that that was the freakiest thing I've seen overnight in amusement park.

Most places that people tell me are haunted, I generally don't feel anything either. For instance, the RMS Queen Mary...I've visited that ship a dozen times in my life...I've stayed aboard it all day, wandering the corridors and abandoned rooms, never once have I seen a ghost or felt an eerie atmosphere. I've even been inside the supposed "most haunted room" aboard the ship, and never got the sense that it was haunted. But there are some places...very few...but some...that just make my hair stand on end.

I was at Disneyland not too long ago at the Golden Horseshoe during the opening on the balcony area, and there was a performance going on. After the guy walks out she stage and the curtains are still. when the guy starts playing “friend like me” from Toy Story the curtains start to move it definitely wasn’t the air or something because it was strong. @Alex - do you know of any hauntings at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion? I’ve always heard of strange scenarios occurring at the mansion

  • @AlextheHistorian

    @AlextheHistorian

    3 жыл бұрын

Yes there's a few stories I've heard from Cast Members in the haunted mansion. One in particular was when the ride was closing, they did a walk-through of the ride to make sure everything was clear for the night. They had all the flood lights on, and when they reached the Séance Circle with Madame Leota, the lights suddenly shut off. They radioed to the control room and asked them to turn the lights back on, but the person in the control room said the lights were on according to the position of the switch. When they managed to exit the room, the lights turned back on behind them. Normally someone would think this was a prank, but shutting off the flood lights when a cast member is performing a safety check is a serious offense, since a single mis-step can make a cast member fall up to 10 feet depending on where they are in the ride. So the cast members were certain the girl in the control room wasn't playing around.

I wish I saw this when it first came out!! I’m a currently laid off CM (hoping to get called back in soon!) I first got hired back in 2018 at the Hyperion Theater in DCA. I was told there was an elderly woman who died in the mezzanine section and a tech CM who fell to his death about 80ft from the catwalks. Definitely felt a bit strange if you were alone at times. I ended up transferring to Galaxy’s Edge and let me tell you, the creepy feelings many of us got from unloading at Smuggler’s Run... there’s no one down there with you unless someone has your break or rotation or the guests are exiting the ride. I feel like I’ve heard footsteps or people coming from down the hall but it turns out to be nobody there. It’s very isolating in the attraction load and unload areas...

I was a cast member, I had worked from 2017-2019. Worked in DCA (Disneyland California Adventure) My role was Steward in Car's land and special events such as Pixar fest and food and wine. Working the events in special events, the building is located backstage. Anyways, there's a big dishwasher machine that 3 cast members can operate at a time One washing the dishes, one loading the dishes and one unloading the dishes and silverware and putting the inventory in its proper location. Anyways, behind the machine is makeshift chairs that are crates for cups that we use to sit down. We're not supposed to sit down, while working but sometimes we did. Anyways one day, I had clocked in the morning and when I went to the steward area,I had seen someone sitting behind the machine and they were wearing the steward costume but I thought it was odd since we all started at the same time, so when I went to investigate who was behind there,I saw nobody and told my fellow cast member Rosa and she said she had seen it there before. We joked about it but I had seen that figure a couple of times. There's been a couple of reports from receivers experiencing scary things, but I will share it some other time.

@@AlextheHistorian The Special events building is the green Warehouse located behind Radiator Springs Racers adjacent to the Disney Orchestra Building that is next to the shuttle stop. The person seemed to be wearing a white collar Shirt, black pants. So far no malicious events were reported there but in the storage room and kitchen area, a receiver once told me about times where beer cans would be flung and thrown against the cage or the wall, papers being thrown. But I do have a funny story, me and a fellow cast member walked from DCA to Disneyland and we were walking in FantasyLand near It's a Small World. It's around 12:40 mostly all the lights are off,no music than all of a sudden we both jumped up high in the air out of fear when they tested the Audio, we were looking for ghost but eventually we headed to TDA. I heard that splashing could be heard in Rivers Of America at late hours of the night. Some say it's the ducks but others say it's the spirits of the 2 Brothers that drown there. Anyways that all that happened to me when I worked at DCA. It was a fun working there and everyday was different than the day before.

I mean its really on a ghost by ghost basis lol. The little blonde girl I assume was once a guest, the ghost in the tunnel I assume was a cast member, the ghost in the bathroom I assume was a guest or cast member, and the ghost on the trail...well either of the two. The Dominguez family only owned the land that is now considered Adventureland, so with the rest of the park extending past that plot...it could be anyone else, it doesn't exactly mean it's them. But I can't discount it either. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't believe all the ghosts in the park come from one place or family. And in Part 2 you will hear about a ghost who was believed to be a cast member.

When I worked at the Golden Horseshoe, if the restaurant wasn't busy enough, we would close the second level until it did get busy enough. This is because there is usually only 1 busser on duty to keep the place clean, and it's a lot easier to keep the place clean if people are all downstairs. 7:07 I totally know what you mean. I grew up in a haunted house, 1st - 4th grade. Some things that happened: There was a room in our house that we called the "Ghost Room." It was always cold. We had an uneasy feeling there. It was bedroom we converted to a storage room for toys and stuff. It was folklore that Ghosts drain the energy of a room and make it freezing. It was even a plot point in the movie, The Haunting. Going back, it was kind of a joke to say the room was cold because it was haunted. One night, my parents came from their anniversary date. My aunt was baby sitting my little brothers and I. We were toddlers then. My parents found the central heater on full blast. The house was HOT like a sauna. They found my aunt and us huddled together under the blankets, asleep. We were freezing. The room was ice cold. Fast forward, my mom would come home late after working at Target. She would find my little brother, a toddler at the time, still awake in that room playing by himself. He said he was playing with his (imaginary) friend Axe from Africa. Later before we moved, my dad and I were picking up the room and sorting it into boxes. We heard a quick double knock on the upper part of the wall. We looked at each other in surprise. Did you hear that? I walked over to that side of the room and recreated it perfectly. No pipes in that wall. Not something a rodent could do. That house was certainly haunted. I felt gusts on me. I felt someone blow air on my leg when I was laying down. Stuff was thrown out of the freezer, onto the floor, in front of my family during a gathering. My grandma would hang pictures that would be knocked down when she left the room. She thought it was my dad doing it until she was there by herself. I saw two white figures. A female and a male. The female flew past by high off the ground window in a static manner. Hands outreached. Her hair was curly. She wore a victorian dress. It was a blink and you'll miss it moment. I was laying in bed, staring at the window, waiting to get tired enough to fall asleep. I saw a male silhouette. White like lightning or a blue lightsaber. Hands at its side, at attention. Less detail than the feminine image. It did not illuminate its surroundings. It was a static image that floated from my neighbor's driveway (left of me) to the backyard gate entrance (left of the bedroom window). I was in my parents room, staring out the window while I changed into shorts. My head was propped on the window seal to hide myself while I changed. I saw the male figure, saw it move towards me as described, and jumped back in shock.
