The TRENTHAM GARDENS classic car show 2023 | Feat. owner interviews
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Our trundle over to the Trentham Gardens classic car show 2023 - or "classic & retro car show" to give it its actual title - is the focus of this Old Classic Car video.
The last time we visited Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire was when my youthful assistant was knee-high to a grasshopper for a kiddies' gathering/birthday party many years ago, and I've been meaning to visit the classic car show held here ever since. In 2023 we finally made it happen.
As the show's title suggests, this was a classic car and retro car meeting, so while I'll try and feature a bit of everything the main focus will, as usual, be on the older cars given that this is a classic car channel. Apologies if I missed out anyone's car, there were a great many classic cars in attendance at this year's Trentham Gardens classic car show, and it was fun to see lots of classics for the first time.
Highlights for me included example(s) of:
Mk1 Austin A40
Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire
Reliant Scimitar SE4 Coupe
MG Montego & Maestro Turbo
Peugeot 305
Austin K9 lorry
SAAB 99 Turbo 2 door
1913 Chalmers tourer
Austin A90 Atlantic DHC
Innocenti Mini Cooper
Ford Consul Capri (Hooper conversion)
Riley Kestrel (1100 shape)
Jaguar Mk1 saloon (3.8!)
Plymouth Belvedere police car
Austin A40 Cambridge
Renault 5 Gordini Turbo
1920s Humber tourer
Frisky Sport
Invicta Black Prince
Lancia Flaminia
... and many more. I believe over 900 cars had been pre-booked, which might explain how long it took to get around everything.
Also included are interviews with the owner of a magnificent vintage 1913 Chalmers tourer, and the near-unique surviving example of Hooper-updated Ford Consul Capri - both cars real rarities.
If you're new to the channel - HELLO! - please take a look around when you're finished here. Comments welcomed as always, was your old car featured in this Trentham Gardens classic car show video? Which of the classic cars or vintage cars was your favourite?

Excellent video. As already stated, what the * was going on with the psychological speaker torture. For putting up with that and returning a valiant video result you deserve an award for service under hostile attack. Well done and thank you.

Ha it was very difficult to hold a conversation while over that side of the field, so at the very least it'd be better if the wick was turned down somewhat next time. Or better off altogether IMO - if the music isn't your taste, it could get a bit annoying after a while. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure others enjoyed it.

Thank you for a fantastic day out what a huge collection im sure you had very tired arms and feet video time 2 & 18 minutes after cutting some bits off WOW, my choice was the Austin A 90 Atlantic DH i hope you both got home safely .
That's my black A40 Farina next to the MX-5! It was great to meet you and Harley and share a quick chat. My A40 is a bit scruffy around the edges as you will have seen, but I saved it from being broken for spares which might help give an idea of the even-worse condition it was in when I bought it last April. I'm not sure I mentioned at the time that it's my first car and I've used it pretty much every day since passing my driving test five months ago!

Nice to see so many fresh cars and I enjoyed the Chalmers owner interview. Yes, I agree with you that the blue Jaguar 3.8 saloon was verrrry nice, and also the Hooper Consul Capri. Loved the two stately Rover P4s!

I would agree with the choice of the Jaguar 3.8 saloon and the Rover P4s, but add the 1913 Chalmers and the Bentley near the end. As usual, great show!
18:30. I really like the gold MK2 Cortina . [ and of course the Rolls Royce]. 24:08 Peugeot: a real shame when th pulled out of the U.S. market in about 1990(?). 📻🙂
I was there😅
My uncle had a brand new Daimler v8 auto 1963 when I was ten lovely ride and your vid well done very enjoyable to watch
Hello Gentlemen . Well ! Spoilt for choice . I particularly liked the Triumph P6 ( you can't get away with any thing Richard ! 🤣🤣 ) l agree that mk1 was beautiful however , the "S"type will give you the best bang for your bucks . And l don't need to remind you Jaguars are supreme at disappearing before your very eyes !! That Series 3 V12 "e"type in Bahama Gold was probably unique in that colour . That lnterceptor was an SP . Thanks guys .

I would buy a Daimler 260 V8 with that beautiful Edward Turner engine, look for one with the manual gearbox. fantastic. My car of the show is The Sunbeam Rapier. Cheers Bob

Thankyou Rick. Great show in a beautiful setting. Interesting.... we have a Trentham here in NZ about 10km away from me ( we pronounce it Trenth-im here). A suburb of the city of Upper Hutt, best known for it's Army camp and racecourse. A quick google confirms it was named after Trentham in Stafford. Great to find the connection.

great show. The Jag series 2 what a beautiful colour and theTriumph special, would love an interview with the owner. Another great video.
If you look closely at the x19 distributor you will see in the bulkhead there's an inspection plate. You can remove it from inside the cabin and get even better access to the points.
They need to cut the grass in the display areas. Difficult to walk on and it also ends up burning on your exhaust.
What a huge showing of cars. Highlight of the day for me was the Armstrong Sidley Sapphire. My Dad had one when I was about 3 - the first car I remember. We had a long driveway and I would wait at the gate for him to come home from work and "steer" this behemoth up to the house.

Epic video RJ in more way than one, some fine vehicles there. For me it would be the Jag S Type however, the gold V12 E Type is to die for. I do like my Luxo Barges like that magnificent Rolls Royce as is the Super Snipe, I did own one in the early 70's. My brother had a X19 Purple with a cream interior, lovely little car. I will have to watch Harley's new upload this evening

Thanks for sticking with these longer uploads, I set out to make them shorter but I can't bring myself to chop out a lot of things that I find interesting :) I'm half tempted with the idea of an S-Type as a cheaper alternative to a Mk2, but I do wonder how much work and expenditure they'd need to keep them right (saying this as a former S1 XJ owner).
That isn't a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine, it's a Series 2. Pity you didn't spend more time with it.

Ha I did wonder whether because there were so many cars, perhaps we were in an overflow area. Sometimes it's messier though to be on grass that has recently been cut, it gets everywhere in the car.
