There is a interview 5 months ago with this father. At the time he thought his daughter had been killed in Gaza.Miracles do happen, praise to God.

We tend to forget the terrible toll on the families of the hostages, so well expressed by this dear man. Thank God his little one is home and he is so wise in allowing her to slowly find her way back to feeling secure and happy again. May God bless you both❤️🙏🏼

I remember Thomas saying that shortly after she got back, Emily told him that she thought she had been away for nearly a year. That was how long it felt to her, and children don't have the same concept of time that adults do anyway. How can a child process or ever fully recover from something like that? One thing I'm thankful about is that at least nobody physically hurt her - other than not giving her enough food - and that she was there with people who cared about her and looked after her. The thought of a child going through something like that alone is unimaginable.

Resilience is only partial. Some aspects of her trauma will not come to the surface until she's older when her mind allows it. This child needs to reconnect with her childhood before the kidnapping so that part of her isn't frozen in time, so she can restore her sense of autonomy and value and self- reliance and fully heal.

Don’t be fooled. She has buried _much._ She _needs deep mental health treatment._ I hope she gets it, as the horror of what she’s experienced, rises to the surface. They should have a safe place w/a mental health expert, where the released kids can openly share as they need & are able to, w/each other. Much healing needs to happen for them all. She is probably protecting her dad & fam from further trauma by acting better than she is. And/or has suppressed sooo much, she is unable to face her reality the past weeks she was held captive. It will bubble up, however. Either in a need to finally talk about it, or in different behavioral issues as she gets older. I hope & pray she gets the much needed mental health care, ASAP. She has to also deal w/the loss of her mother, which she is also suppressing. I can’t begin to imagine...🙏

What Hamas did to Emily is horrific and it's great she is home, safe and relatively healthy. Their brutal actions are not to be condoned for a second. But towards the end this becomes sickening to watch.. does any part of you even truly consider for a moment the plight of Gazan children right now? The countless deaths and unspeakable horrors they are facing at the hands of Israel? Really beggars belief watching her father towards the end, just sickening. You don't deserve the bubble of milk and honey you live in, mate. Not if you can't wake up and zoom out.

Emily has been a brave girl. My heartfelt sympathy with the family. Mr. Thomas had a logical conclusion.

She looks MUCH better than when she was first rescued. This is wonderful! I was worried for her. Her stare was so distant.

Initially she was disassociating which is a natural automatic self-protective thing the mind does. She will likely still have moments of disassociating for a long time when any trigger or stress arises due to the habit her mind learned in order to survive.

You need to study some recent history about what has happened since 1948 and see how complicit Israel, was in creating the Hamas as it is now. Hamas started like a local government to run Gaza. The tunnels were built to get food into Gaza and other essential items for hygiene and health, especially for women. Of course goats and sheep. You probably don't even know Israel has sheets of paper with a table showing what food could go in to keep all on a minimum calorie diet, it can be found if you look. Israel fostered Hamas in order to ensure there was never any agreement between The West Bank and Gaza, a " divide and rule" policy. Just check the behavior of the government, look at the facts and you will see the government of Israel is so consumed with hate there is nothing they won't do to grab power. Read what people write, not of course the Israeli propaganda that will just take you down the rabbit hole. I am in shock that your comment is the only one amongst all here. This girl has returned to a warm home healthy in one piece with all limbs. They don't let her almost speak for herself. The traumatized gz children are shaking on cameras in despair and full of emotions. How on Earth could this girl have warm bath and food in Gz. why were the tanks there? did the idf get into gaza for fun and giggles or to retrieve the hostages after oct 7th? and why didn't hamas help this child and took responsobility over the Palestinian lives they put at risk? also, how many hamas men were in this girl's family (and don't say her whole familiy was innocent, they might be far relatives but if they had money for a car they had hamas connections) also, she's called Anne Frank and get her name out of your very uneducated mouth. My heartfelt love goes out to this dear man and Emily who have been through such cruel terror and trauma ,and to all of the remai ing hostages and their waiting and hoping relatives and friends . I do worry thought that interviewing Emily and her dad ,it must upset her when he says certain things, such as the guilt he feels at other hostages still held captive anf that the family is broken , incase she feels she has to put on a brave face for her dad during the interview . She's very young and has seen the war from a very different viewpoint to his and knows exactly what it was like .She may feel protective of her dad and has to pretend sometimes so as notto upset him in such interviews .It'a a difficult situation for a child to be in. I pray that she will recover a more in time , but I don't think it will ever be completely erased from her mind ,or any of the other hostages and their families . Every time I see Emily and her dad , i just want to hug them .🤍

Imagine, I could have been there myself, because I was a soldier in Kibbutz Nirim, in early 1960's. When I terminated my army service there, some of my group of soldiers, stayed in Nirim, others in Nir-Oz, to join the community there, and became members of Kibbutz . But I had small brothers and sisters, and had to leave the Kibbutz and go back to the city, to help my family... For many years after, when I became independent, living and working in noisy city... I always regretted so much, that I could not choose to stay in the Kibbutz... Just to think, I could have been pulled by my hair, and dragged to the unknown dark place, with them monsters... "Zetim" So my life was saved, but others lost their homes and their lives in a mess... I was so shuttered , on that Saturday... I had no idea it was so terrible no less than S h o a 😢 Every day since that day, I see and hear such painful facts. It torture me emotionally, about other captives still in Gaza, and so sad for every Israeli soldier, killed or wounded in the war😢 Hope you don't mind me writing all this to you, I only mean, I am glad for you, that you and your daughter together, and wish thst you shall overcome all that bad dream... Be strong healthy and secure and happy, always 🌿🌴💙🙏

A little girl was kidnapped by monsters. I can see the same monsters supporting them And what they did from the Times Square It’s a shame for the authorities to aloud it, by the way, the same people were celebrating at 9-11. She looks great and seems perfectly fine. The children that are actually traumatized are the children of Gaza who fear bombs being dropped on them 24-7 while they slowly starve to death. Thousands of children in Gaza have already been murdered by Israel. Israelis have selective sympathy.

Thank you for sharing an update on Emily. I think her dad is a great example of courage and strength, coupled with sensitivity. Very wise words! And words I remember him also saying while Emily was still in captivity. Praying for continued healing for Emily, her dad and other loved ones, all the hostages and their families, praying for the return of the remaining hostages, and for Israel to be able to establish peace and security for all their people. All of the Gazans were hungry thanks to Israel blocking food aid to Gaza. Other hostages have said that they were treated well and Hamas shared all of the food with them even when it was in short supply. They all ate the same! I remember this "father" complaining that when Hamas gave the hostages doughnuts they were only given one doughnut each! Really?
