My boyfriend and I met Stan Lee several years back in 2017. I remember when he got to see his fans he was smiling and laughing and joking around during the walk to his table. He was very sweet to both of us. It breaks my heart how terribly he was treated.

Stan Lee was such a kind hearted man, and his wife especially didn't deserve the abuse the two received. Elder abuse I feel isn't touched upon on as often as it should be. It's horrible.

It's sad to see that the greatest super villain Stan Lee ever created was his own flesh and blood. May both he and Joan Rest In Peace.

I feel so bad for Stan and Joan. They lost their first child and probably felt obligated to give JC the world on a silver platter. I still remember how weird 2017 was when reports of elder abuse began. Even when it was obvious he was a victim of it Stan still tried to protect JC.

I’m not the most hardcore marvel fan, but each of the works I’ve seen done by Stan were a big part of my childhood. hearing him being treated in his final years that way is just heart breaking. Rest in peace Stan Lee

I met Stan at DCC many years ago but never got the chance to get an autograph. Looking back, I'm glad he gave me an "Excelsior!" as he was surrounded by fans. How I shall miss him.

Ah man, this sucks. Met the dude a few years before he passed. He seemed to go from only having a vague clue where he was to energetic and chipper, then back to confused constantly. The folks around him had to shuffle him around and explain what they wanted him to do and try to get him grounded again when his mind would start to fade off. Damn nice fella for the short period I got to talk to him though, very motivated to find out what his fans do with their lives and what they live.

Poor guy had it all, his characters, the love of his wife, and the people closest to him continued to take advantage of him in his old age. I can't imagine how awful it must've felt to continue feeling this abuse in your oldest years, while not being able to do anything about it. I hope one day, we can see much more publicity to bring awareness to elder abuse.

I refused to meet Stan in the final years of his life. I had the opportunity multiple times at cons, but it didn’t seem right to me ever. Stan was too old to be at the conventions and signing for as long as he was. It felt unfair to keep this man that has provided me with years of joy through characters and properties he helped create working, even in the final years of his life. Sure enough, when I read the articles published after his passing about the elder abuse and manipulation, I felt broken hearted but relieved that I never gave the monsters that manipulated him money. RIP, rest up Stan, you deserve it.

I’m only just starting the video, I wanted to meet this man so bad as a kid and I haven’t watched the video yet. But the sheer thought that this man suffered in his last years fills me with rage, I was watching no way home and it made me cry that Stan wasn’t alive to see how amazing it was. This man created super heroes but didn’t have a hero to save him. R.I.P the legend.

I didn't know who he was when growing up but his cameo in the Simpsons when he's trying to turn into the Hulk always stuck with me is among the funniest things I've ever seen.

Stan Lee was an absolute legend. I wish I met him. R.I.P, Stan.

He was a legendary con-artist and grifter. If Jack Kirby had lived long enough to see Marvel become mainstream like it has, believe me, the record would have been set straight about Stan Lee and what kind of manipulative charlatan he was

I feel elder abuse is an issue that isn't talked about enough. I personally never had much of a strong connection to Stan Lee or his characters growing up like a lot of people did, but the way he was abused and mistreated absolutely breaks my heart regardless. Our elders deserve so much better. Just imagine if that was your Grandma or Grandpa. Disgusting.

This is so sad. My grandpa is in his 90's and recently had a stroke, but is recovering pretty well now. My dad, mom and I will make sure to be his best advocates and this story motivates me to do the best I can at that 🙏

Watching this was soul crushing. Stan was my idol and I never knew he slowly went out like this. It’s very depressing, to see that he had to slowly suffer like this. I just hope his work will stay pure and will live on forever.

I feel bad for Stan Lee, he got controlled and abused by his daughter and after his death, the people around him decided to use his money for their own personal gain. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.

The part where he says " I hope my daughter loves me too" made me so sad she just saw him as a bank account not her own dad and its sad when a parent is unsure about their kids loving them the way a parent loves their child

No elderly person should be treated this badly, legend or not. I never knew what was happening behind the scenes. I feel sick just because of the fact that people actually do this for their personal gain.

So freaking sad, it also pisses me off that Disney/Sony/Fox, studios that gained billions of dollars using his creations, never cared to help, only calling him every few months to record an obligated cameo for movies that would make hundreds of millions, while Stan would probably got a few thousands bucks from them...I remember how in 2017 James Gunn said they recorded several cameos to keep using in Marvel movies after he was gone, that was absolutely disgusting.

I cannot bare to imagine how he felt in his last years, being abused by his own child. Someone he loved, cherished, and helped raise. If my child did that to me as an elder, I would rather die than let them take what they want from me. Stan Lee was somebody who I had wanted to meet since I was a child, I have idolized him my entire life. I wanted to make superheroes and stories just like him. Shortly after he died, I bought a small painting of him. It hangs on my wall above the desk where I write, that way when I close my laptop, I get to see the face of the man responsible for shaping me into who I am, and I can feel as though I can’t give up on my dreams. RIP Stan Lee, you inspire so many.

I met him twice at C2E2 in 2018. The staff warned us he was having a "bad day" and his assistants helped him in and out of his signing chair, had my Civil War compilation book signed, and he was shaking so bad yet his signature was still so refined. Next day I went for a picture with him and were instructed not to speak to him, as his hearing was all but gone. I got up there and put up the Spider-Man web hands and for the briefest moment before the picture I saw him glance over. I'll never forget him. Rest in Peace Stan Lee.

I met Stan Lee in 2016 at Megacon. What shocked me was… how frail he looked. He didn’t talk much. I had a Secret Wars #8(Black Suit Spidey origin) that was signed by several other artists, and one of the aids with him actually said “Jeez, there’s a lot of sigs.” and had to guide Stan’s hand to a clear section of the cover.

@@erikdaniels0n Yeah, I was at the San Diego Comic-con back in the 1990's in which he signed a Golden Age Timely (Marvel) comic of mine in which he was cheerful and laughing while signing that book, Several decades later back in 2014-15? I saw him at the Big Apple Con where he was signing comics for $50 a signature and had people guiding his hand with a line of people going all around the convention center and right out the door, It was something I'll always remember.

Literally spent her entire life getting what she wanted, and she'll continue to get what she wants until she expires. Stan Lee was the strong person who created the good times. His daughter is the weak person that will bring bad times. Everything will be progressively worse after her, but she'll be already dead before it happens, so she doesn't care.

Stan is a real hero. Even through the troughs of hell that he went through, he kept the fans at heart, and remained the same sweet, loving old man. He is a role model for everyone, if we followed him, the world would be a better place. Rest In Peace, Mister Lee and thank you for everything.

Sounds like my aunt. She was taken care of her whole life so my grandmother took her out of the will bc she had already gotten enough and her fair share. After my grandmother passed she worked her self back in. My other aunt set her up with her own place and payed off everything so she would be set. It only took her less than 5 years to be out of everything and she owes $20,000 on the property bc she wasn't paying for the space. So shes broke, everyones mad that she wasted everything and shes officially cut off.

Sad to see there are other aunts from hell. Mine was cut off 15 years ago for taking out loans in my grandpa’s name then running up $100k debt. After he had a stroke in 2019, she came back to look after him at home. He passed away four months later and she disappeared with most of his collectibles (coins, stamps, records, antique books) and all my grandma’s jewellery. Didn’t even go to the funeral. People like my aunt, your aunt and Lee’s daughter don’t deserve a proper burial. Throw them out with the garbage like they threw out every chance they’ve been given.

Stan Lee seemed like a totally down to earth person and his own daughter and those that surrounded him only saw money. just disgusting. JC needs to grow up and go to prison. I hope she realizes that her treatment of him directly contributed to his passing, and also how was confused during the beginning of the end before he did pass, Sadly rather angrily though I completely doubt she’ll ever see what she was more than horrific and less than human. Elder abuse is a serious issue but doesn't get talked about enough

Stan Lee was a real hero who brought so much joy to people and changed them in ways I can't even describe. This is so heartbreaking. Stan Lee was a good man, I met him back in 2009 when my uncle was his limo driver for comiccon weekend in NYC; He was so kind to me and my cousin, he gave us a bunch of comic books and then asked us who our favorite hero was. We said Spiderman so he had some spidey comics brought down to us and then he said he had a little something extra for us and gave us both a giant limited edition Iron Man Lithograph poster. He signed it for both of us with his signature "Excelsior" and told us to dream big. Both of us still have our posters. I'll never forget the day I met the great Stan Lee !!!

I remember hearing about this stuff as it happened and it pissed me off to no end. Abuse in general is awful but to do it to someone who had no way at all to fight back and was unable to voice their opinion on it is beyond horrible.

While it's truly wonderful that Stan Lee's fans valued him as much as they did and still do, the fans should never be the best people in an artist's life, that role should be filled by their family and friends, and it's clear that he only found that with his wife. Truly, everyone else who was closest to him is a rotten stain on this planet. Absolute legend, thank you Stan Lee for all the phenomenal heroes and their stories.

Even though I'm not a committed fan of all his works, I've always seen him as an inspiration for those who want to pursue their dreams regardless if someone tells them not to. The fact that a man who has inspired millions was treated this way in his final years is sickening and utterly sad. I'm glad thought that his legacy lives on through the characters and stories he had made.

Stan Lee deserved so much better. He gave us so many characters and stories and in the end wasnt even given the rights his own characters. So much was taken from him in his final years to the point where he no longer wanted to live. Man, i wish i could've met the man who gave me countless years of good memories and entertainment. Though he didnt beleive in an afterlife i hope he was given some peace. R.I.P to the myth the man and the legend Stan Lee. Nuff Said.

Random Story Time: Years ago at New York Comic Con I spotted Stan Lee walking to his booth to shake hands and sign autographs, a voice behind me goes "Holy shit, look at all the security for that guy!" I turn around and it's Bill Paxton. He was there to promote Aliens: Colonial Marines. I tell him literally a couple months prior I had just met Michael Biehn at Austin Comic-Con basically just hanging out. Both were super chill. Told Bill that Twister was in my top 5 favorite movies. He asks what are my other favorite movies and I tell him Jurassic Park, Terminator, Aliens, and The Matrix. He goes "Damn kid, 3 out of 5 ain't bad." We both laughed.

I actually met Jerry Olivarez at a PR conference for college students my school was hosting in 2018. Dude gave me HELLA shady vibes, and actually gave away some of the comics that had the signatures with the DNA ink to some of us. The entire talk he gave sounded like he was defending himself from a court, when all we wanted to know was how PR works in the comics industry. Some took pictures with the guy, but I knew something was off the moment he came up, gave his speech, then dipped promptly after doing a couple photos at the end.

Reminds me of a picture I took with a stand up comic i saw in college. I didn’t notice until the day after, but he had the most visible dark bags under his eyes I’d ever seen on a real life person. That combined with the actual “look” coming out of his eyes made me uncomfortable. Then just about three months ago, I discovered his alleged sexual predator status. These two anecdotes probably have nothing to do with each other in the long run, but it’s still kinda spooky.

God, poor Stanley and Joan. I like imagining that they were my grandparents when times get rough, because they seem so loving and supportive, and it breaks my heart they were treated like this

It is disgusting and sad that such a great man was treated so badly. It is disappointing to learn that someone would do these sorts of things.

This is so messed up. Stan is one of the greatest Americans that ever lived and these horrible people tried to rob, manipulate and falsely accuse him of "groping". Disgusting

I wish I could have told him how much his work helped me as a kid in my life, thank him for everything he gave us.

The fact that people did all of that stuff to Stan pisses me off so much. He was such a pure and nice man and he didn’t deserve any of it.

After what went on with Britney Spears, it automatically reminded me of what went on with Stan Lee as, like Britney, Stan was victim to a repressive conservatorship though, so much worse as unlike Britney, Stan was shackled by the conservatorship until his dying days while Britney was freed. The similarities though, are that the perpetrators were people Stan and Britney thought would love and care for them which was Britney's dad Jamie and Stan's daughter JC

Stan lee is still a legend to this day

I've heard of Jackie Chans son, and how Jackie said that when he dies his entire net worth will go to charity and not his only son. I thought it was unbelievably cold, and its pretty apparent that Jackie wanted his son to be disciplined the way he was yet he was never around as a kid. After hearing this I wish Stan did the same.. His daughter would have to make her own way and Stan would be able to give back to the real people who loved him, his fans.

I feel genuine heart break. Stan Lee should not have felt so powerless, betrayed and alone before he passed. I truly hope his final thoughts were of the impact he left behind, and his wife that he clearly adored.

some videos are so sad you just wish you never clicked on them , i loved stan lee and i wish i coudlve met him he seemed like a sweet guy he was an extraordinarily character and to know that he was being abused and kinda helpless and still continued to be a joyful motivational nice person to his fans and admirers breaks my heart

I was a care assistant and I saw families financially abuse their parents. Its sad, you do everything for your kids and they do this to you then take it all away. You get to a certain age and you get forgotten. Stans money IS stans money, nobody else's, nobodies. I hate money grubbers. She is a disappointing "child" for Stan. Awful woman.
