I knew a girl in college who faked a kidnapping to try and get her ex boyfriend back. It was almost 20 years ago, so I don't remember all the details, but basically, she called the police, pretending to be someone else, to report she'd seen a woman being abducted. She then drove herself two states over, parked her car in a lot, and called 911. She hit herself in the face, scratched her arms, and legs, crawled into her trunk, bound her hands/feet, put duct tape over her mouth, a blindfold on, and waited to be "rescued". Because she drove to another state, it became a federal case, meaning the FBI took over. They quickly determined it was all bullshit, when details didn't add up. She was looking at possible jail time, but ended up with probation, community service, and HUGE fines. Crazy situation. Oh, and in case you're wondering, boyfriend did NOT take her back.....thank god.

@@libramoon1582 Absolutely, the crazy thing is, a few years later, at a different, State school, ANOTHER girl(I hesitate to refer to them as women, as their maturity level says otherwise) did the same thing, but worse, as it garnered National attention, and lasted much longer. A college student named,Audrey Seiler, felt that her boyfriend wasn't paying enough attention to her, so rather than, you know, act like an adult, and communicate this to him, she did what any rational human being would do....went to the hardware store, this was all caught on camera, mind you, bought duct tape, a rope, a knife, etc.. She then set up a tent, by a marsh in the city. Police/volunteers searched for her for four days. Eventually she was found after a man jogging in the area spotted her, and called the police. She claimed that a man had kidnapped her from the lobby of her apartment building(security footage said otherwise), and brought her to that area. When pressed as to why she didn't run away each time he left, she said he told her he was nearby, always watching, and would kill her, and her family if she did. As I'm sure you can imagine, police were able to break apart her story pretty quickly. The worst part of it all, another woman went missing nearby, at the same time. However, since most of their resources were tied up looking for Audrey, her case received almost no attention. Unfortunately, neither she, nor her body were ever found. The punishment for her crimes, probation, community service, and she had to reimburse the city/state for the money they spent searching for her. In other words, a god damn slap on the wrist. Here's a couple of links to articles about it, if you're interested. www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2004-07-02-0407030031-story.html www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna4630360

Every single person, who fakes their own kidnapping for views and attention, SHOULD receive the same amount of prison time that real kidnappers face. This is truly despicable behavior. Especially Kara ( or however her name is spelled), who blamed a black man that "kidnapped" her. She SHOULD have received a lengthy prison sentence. That's absolutely despicable behavior, and she NEEDS to be punished for it. This includes the black transgender. I DON'T care what gender a person is, I DON'T care what the person's race is, I DON'T care what a person's social-economical status is, I DON'T care what religion a person may practice and I DON'T care what a person's sexuality might be, because NOTHING excuses them claiming to be kidnapped. @@illford Depends, if they're non-white they often blame white people. Probably most famous case recently was Smullet a while ago, but it happens quite a lot. The issue in general is that victimhood status is seen as something to be desired these days and can be easily (ab)used to push a political agenda or simply for selfish gain. When it comes to people you don't have any personal connections to claiming to be victims, as a rule of thumb simply don't believe them until it's proven. And even when there is proof be sceptical, loads of problems are created when people hold near religiously onto some evidence that isn't the whole truth. For example if you watch a video that starts confrontation you can be certain critical information is missing.

This needs to be considered a serious crime with so many lies easily spreading online lately. Wasting such time, money, and effort for attention is despicable and I've personally known one Twitter account to constantly make bold lies like this. They've been caught in it before and deleted her Twitter just to bring it back about a week later. It gets so annoying to see them get huge support even after they're found guilty of falsifying stories with bs evidence, etc.
