UK is like Alabama in football. The expectations are through the roof. I think Pope brings back the passion and everyone seems to like the fact he was part of the 96 championship team. Overall, it was a solid hire, but at this point, there are only two players on the roster. He has to get some dudes.

Cal has one player if I’m not wrong as of now. Cal did not recruit by himself. His first class wasn’t even considering Memphis…Wall and Bledsoe didn’t even know who Cal was until he at UK…they helped each other

Since when did UK basketball fall? They haven't been dominant the past 5 years, yeah but they still been ranked top 25 every year. The program is working torwards getting back to the top, like it historically has been. which the one and done method just doesn't work anymore, and teams with vets are winning now, these young freshman don't have the mindset to win and do what it takes. Their just trying to get to the league. Kentucky basketball is about winning and competing at a high level. Kentucky will still have one and dones, but just not the way they did with Cal. It will be more veteran players and players that are talented that may have been looked over, ect. Kentucky will be fine. Mark pope runs a good program, he knows what he is doing.

Bro you’re clueless. Cal’s first class…Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins mostly…Memphis with Cal had none of them..until he came to UK, people thinking Cal was only reason they landed recruits have no idea. ✌🏻

Man the administration ran Cal off. You can win with freshmen but it has to be the right freshmen. Ppl thought this yrs team was going to run the table but they didnt factor in that some were hurt and most players were undersized. But we cant say the players Cal has gotten over the past yrs was the Wall, Boogie, Davis, MKG, KAT, Twins, Booker, Randle of the past. They were not. Cal still won 20plus games each season. Thats winning. Never on the bubble. But those big time freshmen were going other places. These freshmen we had were good. But you factor in injuries, and its hard to get a rhythm with a team like that. Cal was trying to figure out a lineup all season. Just the way it goes. But he shouldntve been ran off. He should've been able to see if he can go into the portal and get some guys to compliment his young talent. But even the portal, you HAVE to find the right guys. Now hes gone and UK thought they could do better. Now they gotta soak in it. The crafts, the boosters and the fans are all to blame.

Don’t forget the 2014-2015 Cat’s that nearly went undefeated until Cal gave the bench more minutes than deserved against Wisconsin, which he stated multiple times. If they weren’t good in the 40s and 50s then they wouldn’t be one of the most decorated program in college basketball history. That means history would be entirely different. I guess the Boston Celtics 11 titles with Bill Russell is irrelevant. The Pittsburgh Steelers winning the Super Bowl in 2009, 2006, 1980, 1979, 1976, and 1975 are irrelevant. Oh ye of little faith. Kentucky is fine and will always be fine, Pope is going to do a great job here. Those recruits were not Kentucky’s players, they were Cal’s players. Did u see the introduction for Pope at Rupp? Have you heard of the names he has come into contact with? Look at what Cal has done the last 5 years because it hasn’t been great. The times of letting freshman with NBA potential come and go after 1 year is not how college basketball works anymore. We are fine and will always be fine. 😂 Stop overreacting because Pope has only been coaching for 9 years and has only made the NCAA tournament the last 2 years. It took Jay Wright 11 years to get his first tournament win and he’s one of the best coaches over the past 25 years or so. We are fine and Pope is talking to the best recruits in the transfer portal as we speak. People thought Rick Pitino was a bad hire and he’s arguably the best coach in Kentucky history. Cal is gone to a worse program that is going to support him the way Kentucky had and he most likely will never win a National title again. Remember Mark Pope didn’t have the same resources that he has now with Kentucky, arguably the best program in college basketball and he’s bringing one of the better recruiters available in the country to his staff. Don’t believe the media, Pope is one of the best “young” coaches in the country since last season. I loved Cal for a while but he is washed goods nearing the end of coaching career. They tried to fire cal then got mad when he played them and left. They talked bad about the whole roster now the only person left is Kareem Watkins lmao Kentucky is done for. Cal made Kentucky but it’s still going to be fans that’s going to say “wait until the season start we will be good” but I doubt it. Nah they fine 😂 Pope has only coached 9 years and went to the tournament the past 2 seasons. Yes he lost in the first round but Cal hasn’t made it past the second round since 2019. I did believe they would’ve won it all if Covid didn’t happen, also if Hagans didn’t give up on the team a week before the regular season finished. Pope has a elite system he’s bringing to Kentucky. It was great with Mormons and low end D-1 talent. We are fine. Cal lost to a 13th seed this past season and a 15th season in St Peters. It took Jay Wright 11 years to win his first tournament win and look how he ended up. The fan base weren’t to happy about Rick Pitino and he’s arguably one of the best coaches in college history and probably the best in UK history. We are fine Take care, God Bless! 🙏

Anything being put before God is a false idol, meaning a false god. Sure Top 10s are important but still doesn’t matter. Cal didn’t make plays for Reed to get him open shots. Cal promised DJ and Edwards starting positions so they’d come to UK and how did that pan out? Yes I know Edwards eventually went to the bench, but the point remains. Yes Cal was a great recruiter but lost his touch the past 3 seasons. Did I want him gone? No. Did he do Kentucky dirty by leaving after publicly stating how excited he was to bring in more talent? Yes. Is Barnhart a great AD? No. Will the Pope hire workout? Possibly. By saying Jay Wright took 11 years for his first tournament win I was stating that it takes time for Coaches to WIN in March! 😂 It took Pitino about 8 seasons of coaching experience to win as well. Cal ran an NBA minor league team. Too mamy guys who wete selfish and didnt care sbout the tesm or the fans. Even "Kentucky boy" Reed Sheppard could have csred less about either only themselves. A team full of self serving freshmen prodiced one title in fifteen yesrs. Here in Kentucky that simply is not good enough. Pope will bring a diffetrnt kind of plsyer and build a better program with much more pride and character. His teams will produce a lot more than one title in fifteen years. Write it down.
