The Tragedy Of America's Lost Son

Ойын-сауық

As the eldest son and namesake of one of America’s best-loved presidents, John F. Kennedy, Jr. spent his entire life in the public eye. He was just three years old when his father was assassinated, and became a living symbol of the hope, optimism, and vitality of the Kennedy administration.

it's funny how America hates peace loving politicians and famous people, JFK Sr, John Lennon, JFK Jr. yeah that's real freedom, and freedom of speech. you could probably do an entire episode on the peace loving American people that have died after gaining enough fame to run for office. I don't believe there is curse, just people that want to stay in power, and don't want peace in America. America politics does have that theme after all.

how does one family have that much bad luck?? Even with all the fame, wealth, and power this family had (which may have precipitated some events); it seems unreal. Also, there are many rumors about that crash and we will probably never know the exact truth. the person I felt the worse for was Rose Kennedy...

Being in the public eye like that is a kind of a prison. You cannot look out without being observed. It's a kind of a hell because expectations on him were so high, he was reckless probably in part because he simply expected to be able to do things, to be a cut above the rest. It is a tragedy but of a kind that reflects us and our insatiable appetite for information, however mundane, about people who interest us.

@@user-fq8rs7rz3i I'll bet lots of folks would still involve themselves w/ a Kennedy. They're a large family full of unique & special individuals, after all. Their sheer numbers also increase the odds in both good & bad ways. Having lots of people to love in one's circle means many joys *&* many sorrows. Fate can be all the more tragic when a figure is remembered with such empathy &/or sentimentality. John was a True Hottie to some. To others, he was that little boy playing under Dad's desk, or saluting his coffin. But the bitter *doesn't* remove the sweet, and none of us is here forever. John's passing just stung even more than usual, like his Dad's (& others in the fam), b/c it hurts more to lose those who, rightly, should have been able to remain here with us for decades longer. Esp. when they seem to hold such glorious promise for a bright future. I wistfully reflect sometimes on how different the world would be if both John & his Dad had survived to old age. But that was not in God's plan. As for any curse...? The more chances we take in Life, whether through brave, foolhardy or impatient action, the greater the risk of calamity. Having seen much tragedy befall those around me, I try to stay a bit careful. But my time will come, too. It will for all of us. We still must live according to our code. For many, that code includes daring Fate from time to time. I wish those folks much safety, good luck & happiness. We should all *Hug our nearest & dearest daily,* just in case. RIP, John-John. 💙

Overconfidence and recklessness are adjectives that triggered me in your comment because even though he may have had good qualities, he had that pretentious personality of those who are over-privileged. When he was still dating Darryl Hannah they came into a luxury boutique where I worked on Madison Avenue and they treated the staff and mainly me like we were their personal staff. They spoke rudely and sought to demean us just so they can position themselves above “the hired help”. I eventually just walked away and the rest of the sale staff just stopped catering to them. They were so pissed off; they just left. We had the last laugh.😂

Add a penchant for high-speed, high-activity sports and lifestyle, in addition to the longevity of said group remaining in existence, and the odds become even greater for bad things to happen. Every time I see something about the "Kennedy Curse", I'm frustrated for people unable to see the obvious. Thanks for letting me vent. The cover of his magazine mocking George Washington is proof he wasn't beautiful inside. Arrogantly thinking he could fly a plane he was inexperienced with, especially under bad weather conditions, tells us he was reckless with people's lives. Considering whom he dated before marriage, I suspect he was reeled in, as his father was, to marry a socialite to bolster their status on their way to power. He had moved out of their apartment in order to "work" on their marriage just before the plane crash. Forget acting and actresses/models for your entertainment, boy-o. Go take the bar exam until you pass (don't be like your rapist Uncle Ted, failing 3 times), then blow it on publishing a leftist magazine, because working at a lot of law offices indicates you failed as a lawyer. The only reason for a Kennedy to get a law degree was to get into politics and hang onto whatever power was still available to the family.

He had a heavy burden to carry with his legacy amidst the privileges, looks and wealth afforded him. He was human and made mistakes like the rest of us. Personally, I never cared for his choice of wife and the disintegration of their marriage obviously preyed upon his mind days before the crash. It is questionable who the person or people were who advised him not to fly that night … conflicting reports as always. He used poor judgment and ignored his wife's plea not to fly that night. Also, Kennedy was unable to fly on instruments and he thought he was over land when, in reality, he was over the ocean when he tried to land the plane. Shame that his arrogance caused not only his death, but that of his wife and sister-in-law.

Family curse? How about bad judgement and lack of preparation. Wearing a cast while flying? Flying through thick fog and not instrument rated? Inexperience and lack of flying hours on a new, higher powered airplane? A history (law exam failures) of lack of preparation. Would you go up in the air with him as the pilot? Not me.

Conclusion: Inexperienced pilot and not too bright. After 200 hrs, VFR pilots may start getting a tad cocky and take risks beyond their capability.

His mother knew him that he was impulsive and could be irresponsible at times. Sad part is he promised his mom to not fly then she died. There is no curse , the only thing that happened was one natural or by having so much money lack of acct ability and the desire of almost all of them to live life to the very edge. JFK should never ever have done what he did he was ridiculous . So caught up with his own desires of being right he had several pilots that night who begged to go with him. He was so caught up with drama of his marriage , and he was on pain meds worked to late and knew because of his limited training to fly in the day so he could see the land and shore line . Please don’t make him a god as we are all gods but what we decided affects others and his wife’s family list 2 daughters . One of them an identical twin. Stupid stupid I remembered that day . My friends and I knew he was toast because we saw it comming based on the news at the time . Yes it’s sad but we all make our own reality our own way by our thoughts he did not think about anyone’s but himself that night and losing his wife possibly . No other thought about there safely .

The story of John Jr. and his family is tragic on many levels. The Kennedy legacy prevented John Jr. from pursuing something relating to liberal arts, his first love career-wise. He wasn't into the law thing at all, whereas his sister Caroline passed the bar on the first try and is very much into law studies. Unfortunately, because he's The Boy, pressure was put on him to go into a career he wasn't into. When he founded George, he was finally able to merge what he liked doing with what his family expected of him. Too often when someone gets into piloting, they can make the mistake of flying in conditions beyond their certification, as he did. AFAIK, John Jr. was only VFR certified, and the conditions into which they were flying required instrument certification (being able to fly the plane solely on what your instruments say, rather than by what you see out the window). When I'd heard this, I knew right away that it was pilot error.

John was breathtakingly handsome in person. I used to see him in Lower Manhattan in the 1980’s when he was commuting to work and he was always pleasant and friendly when you acknowledged him. His photos really don’t do him justice as he had a real magnetism and charisma that were very powerful! I first saw him and his sister when I was a young University student in Athens, Greece trying to evacuate after the invasion of Cyprus by the Military Junta. Olympic Airlines was then owned by Aristotle Onassis and I was booked on the last flight out to New York. Suddenly a convoy of people boarded in front of me on the 2 tier jet, including John, Caroline, and their bodyguards. John was just a gangly kid, maybe 13 or 14, with a very long lens camera dangling from his neck. They had all just flown in from the private island of Skorpios to flee to New York. So these were my chance encounters with JFK, Jr. I do believe he could have changed the world had he lived! RIP John🙏 EDIT: They were buried at sea from a naval vessel. I always found this odd, especially for the family of the 2 sisters who would never have a gravesite to visit.
