I LOVE the bridge in particular. The call and response. Ugh they duet so beautifully together and it’s such a fun new sound for Taylor to explore. Florence was the PERFECT feature for that song.

I love every single song. The only ones I skip Are the ones that just hurt too much

So happy to see the love for “who’s afraid of little old me?”!! It’s an absolute masterpiece - lyrics, melody, vocals, production, the whole thing is perfection. The line “You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” gave me CHILLS!!

About "Guilty as Sin?"... The 1975 sampled "Downtown Lights" by the Blue Nile in "Love It If We Made It" and they're one of Matty's favorite bands of all time. That shit's blatant. Name-dropping that band is as close as she's gotten to flat out telling us, "This song is about Healy, you fools."

It means it just ended, nothing particularly happened or caused it. It just died and they drifted apart. It relates to the previous line "what a valiant roar", what had once been such a powerful bright love ended in such a dull disappointing way. This song is about Joe who didn't ghost her.

@@priiifrg that entire song is about Joe. Loss of my life is not about Matty Healy. It makes so many specific references to Joe. It talks about a time, probably towards the end of their relationship, they had broken up and ended up together again because she thought she was better safe than starting something new. That Joe promised her weddings and babies but that never happened and it all felt fake and a lie to her in the end and how if he had let her, they could have had it all like they'd always planned.

She reformed him… suit and tie… starry eyed which she says in another song about him, rekindled flames (they’ve had history since 2014), momentary, it was short lived when they finally got together, and he promised her marriage and babies because he knew that’s she wanted and once he got what he wanted from her, he ghosted her.

@@mariahhkate that's all completely wrong. She has referenced meeting Joe in a suit and tie many times and has also referenced starry eyed for Joe many times. Track 5 are always her most emotional, while songs on the album are about Matty, so long London, loml, how did it end are all Joe

I was not ready for Matty Healy to be the co-Chair of the Department. After Fortnight and TTPD, I had to recalibrate my expectations 😅 But this album being a mix between Speak Now-level fourth wall breaks, troll level and scathing anger; Midnight and 1989 production; and folklevermore lyricism makes it probably my favorite album yet! (Despite me being lukewarm on it on first listen) It contains career highlights: Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, But Daddy I Love Him and loml. ❤❤❤

I agree with editing Brad about the message of Clara Bow. I also thought it was potentially talking about how every up and coming, young artist (actor, musician etc.) are essentially compared and measured against others, especially women. Like when she uses her own name at the end it drove it home - so many young female artists that are starting out are compared to and against Taylor which is not fair to them at all, and doesn't give them any room to be unique or grow. They're shoe-horned into being 'a new Taylor Swift' or 'the next Taylor Swift' etc. and aren't allowed to be themselves. And she uses Clara Bow & Stevie Nicks in the same way. Who's Afraid of little Old Me is my favorite. Loved it the first time I heard it. There is no confusion as to what she's talking about. She spelled them out clearly and I'm happy about that. I was watching Chats & Reacts Reaction to TTPD, there was a comment that ✨STOOD✨ out to me, I don’t remember word for word what the person said, so I might as well put it in my own words- since 🌙Midnights🌙, Taylor allures the album to about her *13 sleepless night*, which makes sense opinion theory at the time to think, okay 13- that being her favourite number, she’s a mastermind. But seemingly with 🕯️Tortured Poets🕯️ it’s like we are continuing from midnights, like the 13 sleepless night *TO A FORTNIGHT* - that being her 14th sleepless night. We have had this with both Folklore and Evermore being sister albums, so who’s to say that Midnights and TTPD aren’t intertwined together, especially since both of these albums sound sonically cohesive.
