@@elyse_myers So EXCITED for part TWO 🙌🙏🏻✌❣❣
It's always helpful to note that she describes her time with Joe as grey, the feelings he gave her as golden, and his feelings are always blue. and she consistently talks abt their good moments as being a brief sunlit one that was always chased away by stormy seas (this is a frequent motif in folkmore).

@@elyse_myers omg hi! so it's since occurred to me that this album is not about men in the slightest really; it's about her and us. if you listen to the lyrics as her speaking directly to herself and/or us the album becomes very direct, esp considering (!!!!) most of the songs have elements of previous ones embedded but slightly distorted while speaks frequently abt dealth and violence (death of the author, literary theory). they all use an incredible amount of red herrings and i think one of those is the prevalence of male pronouns; this album isn't who you're supposed to think it's abt. she qrt'd reviews essentially saying to get this album, you have to go beyond the paternity testing of songs and view it as the poetry it is. the quintessential example of this red herring effect is thanK you aIMee. the letters clearly spell out kim and the first line is abt a bronze statue. obviously it's abt Kim Kardashian and the kimye situation. except it's not. it's convenient that everyone will think it is, however bc the song's true muse (if it even is one person; it's not, it's abt everyone from her hometown that watched her start her career in hs and laughed at her while she did. I think if you searched you might eventually be able to find a local news article from a peer disparaging her attempts if u looked hard enough) wld probably love her to mention them, but she removed all obvious clues abt their identity and no one but her and them will ever know the truth and that's the album's thesis. the subjects of her songs might be able to recognize themselves there but all we can ever see is the surface level story that plays out in public, one that is a woefully incomplete image of the real story (she's been saying this since rep; the poem here's something i've learned about people summarizes it nicely but ppl exist in shades of others perception of them and we have only what she chooses to reveal to us, which is a carefully fabricated story, one that only contains elements of truth). all this to say, this album won't make sense and will cont to feel dissonant if you try to find out who the songs are abt lol. look for the second or third and tenth meaning you can glean and then disregard any details that seem personal to her bc this album isn't abt her; it's abt you taking her songs and making them abt yourself bc that's what she has written them for. (in this light, the manuscript will make perfect sense)

Mattie has also been described as blue and gray via Halsey…Joe is usually described as gold and blue. I learned this which clarified a LOT more of the songs are actually about Mattie and was her chosen outlet of self therapy. Only a few songs were about closing the Joe chapter 😸🫶 @elyse_myers ❤

Florida is where Taylor was during the Eras tour when the news broke that she and Joe had broken up. But also she uses Florida as a metaphor for escaping ones crimes to create a new identity. She says as much within the Florida songs. (Criminals run from the law to hide out in Florida)

@@elyse_myers I live in NY. Fell asleep just before midnight 4/18/24 so woke up to see that at 2am she released the extended (31 song!) version. Listened alone a few times then stumbled onto someone's reaction. Didn't feel much there but THEN, late last night, saw you (☺️) had posted this and immediately clicked! Had already gotten the songs in my head so was able to watch the lyrics-which I hadn't seen yet-and listen to you react. Awesome! So awesome that while washing dishes now, I have an earbud playing TTPD from my phone *and* my laptop on the sink shelf with its speaker time-matching so on this listen through of Taylor, which was gonna be the sole audio of my chores today, I can watch this video on a bigger screen and dance along. Loving the swifties sharing vibes❤
The functioning alcoholic part though...WOW! That. Did not expect that from her. She is so RAW & REAL!
“Fresh Out the Slammer” she references swirling him into her poems (meaning Matty Healy, while she was still with Joe)… folklore and evermore are most poetic poetry… I highly suspect “the 1” and “cardigan” are in reference to him. Matty Healy once said onstage during a performance: “This one’s about you, you know who you are. I love you.” Then Taylor Swift mouthed those exact same words while performing “Cardigan” on Eras Tour. Then during the library installation in LA, right before the TTPD release, there was a vintage book that would change each day with lyrics from her new songs. One time that book said those same words: “This one’s about you. You know who you are.” Those aren’t lyrics… it was a message to Matty Healy. More connections: In “Peter” she’s making a reference to Healy as Peter Pan, promising to grow up and come back for Wendy once he had. In “Cardigan” (the song she mouthed “this one’s about you”) there’s the lines about lingering like a tattoo kiss, the smell of the smoke lingering (he smokes), and PETER LOSING WENDY. Also, in “the smallest man who ever lived” she says he should be prison, but he’ll just slip into inboxes (like DMs?)… and in “the 1” on folklore she has the lines about imagining he’s doing cool shit, having adventures on his own, “you meet some woman on the Internet and take her home”…. 🤔
@glorializb
Ай бұрын
just a heads up the “this one’s about you you know who you are” etc on the book at the Spotify installation was photoshopped as a joke it never actually said that 😅 and I think Taylor said it first and then Matty said it the next day but I could be wrong it feels like so long ago. There is so much lore though you’re right
@marigolden_mariposa

Commenting helps the algorithm?? I’ve spent the last 15 years on KZread holding back, thinking, “That’s unnecessary, don’t say that, don’t be creepy”. Thank you for this comment! ❤

@@Rlsy5112took me years to realize it as well. It’s super helpful to the creator for you to comment because YT sees the content being interacted with and will push it out to more people. You’ll also find a lot of like minded people since y’all are watching the same things. It’s fun!
I was hoping for this. I loved the shorts reactions on the other albums. One big video is gonna be amzing.
Okay I LOVE this format for reaction videos. I watch folks who do put it in the actual video, and they have to crop some reactions or parts, and it doesn't get played on my Spotify so it doesn't go towards my wrapped. This actually made me feel like we were truly listening together ❤❤
I honestly appreciate that you uploaded the whole video so we can follow the emotions all the way through
I’m not really a swiftie but I have totally turned into one with this album. I’ve like her songs through the years but never trying to figure out all the meanings behind the songs. I was so excited for the fortnight video last night. I felt like a kid again when Michael Jackson would premiere a video on Fox before 90210. i was looking at all the lyrics and I felt it in my soul. My husband loves Taylor Swift and he found it so amusing.

Glad I'm not the only one fell in love with her end of 2023 when I saw everyone bothered by her simply watching a football game 😂

13 minutes ago! And exactly!🩶
I think “Clara Bow” is about Taylor’s relationship to fame. Clara was the original “it girl” of her time. The end is being said to the next “it girl”…after Taylor. Such a beautiful song!
Your face at the end of Broken Heart. Same girl. My fave too! I love the juxtaposition of it being the most catchy, upbeat song, while having the very saddest lyrics. And the comms/in-ears mixed in is BRILLIANT. As a long-time singer who has had to get on a stage and sing when all I wanted to do was cry in a corner, I FELT IT. I've admired her stamina through the whole tour, but this took it to another level. I don't know how she was able to sing when she was struggling so hard. When I cry my whole throat cinches up and only squeaks come out! And her official lyric video for the song, just wow. I've watched it so many times.
This was so fun, I’m glad you did the whole album, I’d love to see you react to the second album! I was also confused my first listen through, and am starting to feel like I understand it more as I listen
I loved this so much! Had to wait to watch till I could block out the time and listen with you and it was so worth it!! Knowing the songs more now it was fun to listen through knowing what was coming and getting to experience the newness of you! Plus I don’t usually dive too deep into her music. Though I love her. I just appreciate for what it is and what I can deduce so hearing you make connections was so enjoyable!!
You are wonderful , Elyse. Seeing your expressions is the best. Thanks for sharing yourself with the internet.
ELISE!! I had the EXACT SAME REACTION to that first "You should be" in "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" !!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ It's EASILY in my top 3 songs on the entire 31-song double album, and might actually be my favourite song on it. I'm changing my mind between a few every time I listen, but the feeling WAoLOM? gives, is just VERY different and I feel it in my spine and nerves every time it plays (Chronic Illness probably causes it due to my emotional reaction to the song, but wow I can literally feel it with that song!!)
i felt like i was joining the best listen/watch party. Please do this again. With any album. i loved this 💜
I loved your reactions. I've listened to the album over and over and I was waiting for your reactions. Loved it. Can't wait to see part 2 ❤
Love this album! Love your music and so glad you are a swiftie!
Thank you for making this, it was so fun to watch. I felt like I sat down with a friend and showed them the album and got to see them react at the same places I did when I first listened, and I wanted squeal and shout "I KNOW!" Your reactions were literally the same as mine from my first listen. You are such a joy to watch. You're a bright spot on the internet.
I was so happy to see this!! Please do the anthology! The second part of the album! This was so fun!
This is such a great way to do a reaction video. I love playing it with you and seeing your face as you listen for the first time.
Omg I'm first! I need to tell u how much I adore u me and my bf get so excited when u post. U have to be the most relatable person in the world 😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well this was everything I didn't expect. I'll be over here (im)patiently waiting for Part 2
Elyse, you are an amazingly sharp and witty person to spend time watching. Thank you for putting this together.

I loved watching your reaction so much!!
I was so happy to see you posted this! Loved seeing your reactions, it was like listening with a friend!
Elyse is the most relatable person online and I love it. “What just happened?” *end of video* 😂 girl SAME. This entire video was basically just a recreation of my reaction to this album.
I’m so upset I didn’t see this earlier!!! I can’t wait to come back and finish watching this and the next video 🤍
I hope you do a part 2! This was so fun!
I haven’t planned the listening experience for this album yet, but when I heard you posted something I RAN to KZread. Honestly it’s just really nice to see you, and to see you smiling.

@elyse_myers it's so good. The whole shebang is a trip. I spent the past week working in a gallery, and had 2 full TTPD listening days. I tell you, I'm disoriented, and it's not hyperbole. I'm reeling with the stark display of raw emotions, no matter the form they fell out into, swampy is a great descriptor, but like if the swamp was literally just ALLLL of the TS everything and I clearly have no coherent thought yet. I'm still checking in with myself about it, but my #1 takeaway is the POWER of say, listening with you and all the swifties all over the world, like I'm walking my dog, listening WITH so many people simultaneously, and actually feeling the same goosebumps? It's wild! My #2 favorite takeaway is that writing your messy feelings down is invaluable for moving on, even better if you can make art and share it with someone, because who wants to just horde embarrassing diaries and feel like crap about it?! *(Oh! Oh! I tried to write a letter hahah 😅 I've decided to work on not being embarrassed by being alive, so I'm doing embarrassing things.)

Requesting more of this content ❤ loved every second
I enjoyed thus SO MUCH! It felt like a first listen party together and made it such a fun experience! Adding the lyrics on the video was so helpful to keep up with the MASTERY! Thank you for sharing. We fist bumped at the exact same time on Daddy I Love Him and it made me so hype! haha
Listening to this together with you is the best time of my week!! Such a great idea and I love that I get to experience this with you ❤
This is so perfect and therapeutic, thank you!
