Your comment regarding player cards and contextualizing numbers is spot on. People see a number (whether good or bad) and instantly create a headline without really knowing what drove that number. Tre needs to be careful not to trade for good numbers but rather how those numbers fit into the makeup of the leafs. Really glad to see you uploading again!

I agree with you, but for the RR card from Andy and Rono, it says on the card that he has a 33rd percentile role difficulty, so some of that context is included on the card. From the card alone, you’re able to deduce that while his 75th percentile defence looks good, it’s against low competition, thus not as attractive.

Welcome Back Mr DTSB. I agree Hanafin just cant happen they have far to many holes on their roster to go and get a guy making that much AND having to resign him. Now,.... Could they trade for Hanafin with a new 7.5M contract for next season. If he blows you out of the water the rest of the season and the leafs go win the cup then you find a way to keep him.. If not then you flip Hanafin? Maybe..Or if you completely flop again this year Maybe theyre moving on from Marner. who knows? These are the players I want the leafs to target Parayko Tanev Seeler Edmundson Laughton Vatrano Jake Evans A guy like Vatrano would be DEADLY on the wing with Nylander and Tavares imo. Laughton as 3C, Evans as a 4C possibly 3C I like Parayko because hes cost controlled.... Hes only going to be making 6.5M for another 6 yeas after this... In a couple years when the cap goes up that deal is going to be a super sweetheart contract. If I could have a Lineup of Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner Vatrano-Tavares-Nylander Knies-Laughton-Domi Holmberg-Evans-Gregor Reilly-Parayko McCabe-Tanev Seeler-Edmundson Im going all in on that roster.

Cowan is the guy you keep out of any trade and could be on the squad earlier than some think IMO. Hanifan 🤔 I think he sounds locked in to playing in the US. Unless Boston trades for him I think he is a rental. Tanev I think is possible and could resign here as a hometown boy.

Might be a better idea to restock the shelves with picks and prospects until they’re off the Tavares contract cuz they aren’t going anywhere with the current salary structure.

I'd like to see them bring in 20-25 year olds who they hopefully could develop to the next level, not known names, not UFAs, like younger versions of Tanev or Schenn. Do you have suggestions?

Sign and trades should be more common than thay are. Pay a guy what hes worth, trade him away after a playoff run to select teams. You get some value back, less risk, idk

At the end of the day it is pretty much a waiting game until Tavares’ 11 million is off the books. The 7th highest paid player in the NHL currently sitting at 71st in league scoring. Easily one of the worst contracts in the league right now.

@@ItSoupyuo yes really. The only thing Tavares still does at an elite level is win faceoffs. He is a 6/7 million dollar player making 11. That contract is equivalent to an anchor you’d find on the USS Gerald R. ford

Just trade Marner - for these two players. Maybe throw in a Leaf prospect (forward) if necessary?😀Getting rid of one of the four $11Million Leaf forwards is the Leafs main issue - limiting them to no playoff runs.

@@killachinchilla9445 One player (smallish skilled forwards) like Marner, Ehlers or Nylander - is enough for playoff success on an NHL team. More just hurts the team. The way Marner & Nylander are overpaid moving forward makes it more urgent to move Marner). {Marner drops 27% in the playoffs.} Why continue failing with two playoff disappointments (Mitch & Willie)? But if you want individual records & no playoff runs - just keep the Leafs going with the Playoff Disappointment Core 4 four $11Million forwards. Hockey is only a game & Mitch seems to be content. I can’t blame him.😀 But - There have been 19 other NHL teams not including the Leafs - that are Stanley Cup winners since 1967. The Leafs haven’t had a playoff run for 20 years. The core 4 is where all the money has been spent. So changing out at least 2 of the failing Core 4 is imperative.

Nylander is enough.😀 They committed to Nylander long term - so it is now time for Marner to win cups by moving out of Toronto - like Kessel, Kadri and Bozak.

Mitch has out performed Matthews in the playoffs and has 80% of the primary assists on Matthews career goals. You ever put any thought in what trading Auston's best friend on the team would do to Auston? You want to blame someone for bad playoff rosters? Blame Dubas, who let Hyman walk over not willing to give Zack 5 million yet, somehow, Tree had that same amount available to give Bertuzzi. Hyman is now a consideration for team Canada and Bertuzzi hasn't scored in almost 20 games. You want to trade away one of the four when they are the only ones performing. You remove one of them, than suddenly we have one line instead of two, our third and four line are horrible. That version of a Leafs team, you want to make, wouldn't even make the playoffs and wouldlikelybe a lottery team.

Do you just want individual Core 4 records, declining team level to Wildcard level this year, over paid Leafs (4 of 9 NHL players at $11Million are Leafs - want more?), and no sign of Playoff Successes as a result of playing small skilled highly paid forwards who do not thrive within playoff officiating - that fail in playoff elimination games? If yes - keep Marner.😀

This is the first of about 6-8 yrs which could easily be replay years, again, after signing Mathews and Nylander to ridiculous sums, especially Nylander. 8 yrs, full no move, insane. If they sign Marner for similar number, then they are screwed. If I was Keefe, Just go along with this lifeless group, gonna get paid good anyway, long as you can.

I don't know why people keep talking about Hanifin coming to Toronto. He's already said he doesn't want to play for a Canadian team...I really doubt this is happening.

This trade would only prove one thing: the "braintrust' have not learned from the terrible mistakes of the last half dozen years. Hanifin is not someone the Leafs could hope to resign -- he is a pure rental. And we have watched the Leafs do this year in and year out and deplete the draft and prospect pool. They would need to have salary retained this year and also send someone like Brodie the other way -- probably not something Calgary wants.

I enjoy mock trades, but yours is a HARD no. Kemp’s is signed for another 3- 4yrs, Reaves is also signed to multiple years and both players are old, Cgy is looking to get younger not older. Cgy could get more 1st RD if they move both of those players in separate trades. If Cgy is moving 2x D to Tor, I would believe 1 of the top 3 prospects would be part of the trade.

I have no doubt the Maple Leafs want BOTH Noah Hanifin & Chris Tanev, and probably more. But, as the adage puts it, 'if wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Trading more good Leaf prospects would be just plain dumb, and so the question is ''who do the Leafs give up in return.' Haste always makes waste, and the history of the Leafs themselves shows that...

Although Tanev could help the Leafs for a year or 2 he is 34 years old and may not have too much good hockey left. Not sure what wouldn't be too much to trade for Tanev who could simply walk next year. I don't see any trade happening between the Leafs and flames.

Big problem with this is repeating what has happened previously. Every trade acquisition has resulted in the new players bolting in the summer. Rotten locker room, bad leadership, spoiled brat players...would you stay? What's worse is what we've given up.

Sandin and Lilly - bad drafting. Tavares 11M over Kadri - Bad trading and signing. We are in Dubas hell. Tre isn't changing the culture with Nylander at 11.5.

Honestly I assume he doesn’t make much making these, plus puts a lot of time into his TSN job. Can’t blame the guy for choosing to do other things with his free time. It is unfortunate tho, great content. Hopefully, he does something in the offseason.

I mean, I'd rather we don't move Lilli, but if thats what brings in both, then sure as long as Hanafin signs an extension here. The fact Lilli is a 3-4D AND an RFA after his contract expires, make him a significantly valuable player to a cap-strapped team like the Leafs. That said I'd rather we not move Lilli

Having Flames insider info I can guarantee there will be no trade this year between Flames and Leafs.. Craig and Brad discussed a possible trade earlier this season and Flames made it clear they wanted Knies and Treliving said he's untouchable.

Flames were also going to take either Bert or Domi to help salary issues.. Honestly I'm glad it didn't happen I feel we can get much more from other teams.. Leafs aren't going anywheres with that cap situation plus goaltending is really bad I'm sorry but 1st Rd exit for sure

No, I'm sorry, this team isn't going anywhere this year. Do not trade our picks or prospects. Trade all our U.F.A's for whatever and build your defense this Sunday to start with. You want Tanev? A decent deal for those two would be. 1st rounder, Robertson, Liljegren, Kampf, Reaves(cap dump) For Tanev and Hanifin (signed) That’s 3 premium assets for the Flames. Assuming some resignings I would go with this for 24/25 as Domi and Bertuzzi should come in at $8M combined and you can bring in youth and save cap space for the deadline. Knies - Matthews - Marner Bertuzzi - Tavares - Nylander Cowan - Domi - Jarnkrok Minten - Holmberg - McMann/Gregor Rielly - Tanev Hanifin - McCabe Benoit - Timmins Lagesson Woll Hildeby or Samsonov
