For sure an underrated and less popular/visited destination. So great...it's changes!!
Just completed a trip to Java late December, cut short by my wife dislocating her shoulder outside of Surabaya, so went looking for another Indonesian adventure not as strenuous so as not to alarm her as she is understandably a bit gun shy. Stumbled across your vlog and must say it is one of the better travel vlogs I have seen, love how you let the places do the talking and you are not front and centre. Narration is very good, respect for local business, showing their contact info is really a great initiative and I rarely see that from content providers. Your Lake Toba series has been remarkable and we are now looking to book another Indonesian getaway featuring Lake Toba (along with Mt Bromo that we missed out on after the accident) this August. We want to get there before it becomes Bali - ised if you know what I mean. Indonesia is so big however the only thing we ever see about Indonesia in Australia is Bali. Thanks

Thanks Geoff. As you say, so much more to Indonesia than Bali. I think you and your wife would love Lake Toba and August should be perfect. Enjoy! STL
So good to see a part of the world that is rarely explored. Adding this place to the bucket list as we speak!
Loved the video! Lake Toba is absolutely on my bucket list of must visit places. So beautiful and charming. P.S Do not shorten your videos as they are excellent.

Thanks again love your format highly informative fabulous eye candy shots and very respectful. Anyway as a born and raised BCer the lake Toba area just seems so similar to home. This would be my kind of place to retire perfect microclimate and lovely locals.Cheers

Toba is simply amazing. Unfortunately majority of my subs are Thailand condos/beaches/deals type viewers and don't watch outside of that scope. Compounding this, YT only recommends vids IF one's own viewers are watching (95% of vid views come from YT 's suggested/up next etc videos). Thus, most of my Indo series get few views comparatively (at least I thoroughly enjoyed filming them :) STL

@@SideTripLife So many vloggers are in it for the piece-to-camera when really the emphasis should be on what's in front of you when you go to a place. Great thing about your stuff is how you capture it with the realtime voice over and then smash it together in the edit. Makes for a good viewing pace. Really well done.
Great video, but miss the parrot at the opening. Been watching for 3 years and your voice has changed. Von Trapp family was from Austria, not Switzerland.
I don’t remember swimming when I was in Toba 20 yrs ago! I think that’s where I bought a few wood carvings though, so beautiful 👌😎

Hiya STL. Your videos always have beautiful content. Love watching your adventures. You sound a little under the weather. Do you suffer from hay fever?. I hope you are keeping well. Then you put subs to say you have a sore throat. Love the drone footage. Epic views on your ride. Teletubbies hills. You will be a pro before you know it. Do you ever worry? Flying it too far away from you?. Gorgeous views. Julie Andrews. 🤣You're not wrong. Gorgeous sunset. The food is so cheap. Great video. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks David. Yes, there's a boat back to Samosir Island near Bukit Holbung (the 'teletubbies' mtn in the vid;) and you can bring your bike. But as it was getting late and that overland route takes longer, I booked it back via the coastal route.
Very talented you are Mr.STL. thanks for another great video. I wonder if silangit or Toba would have sea plane/small plane flight to telo islands in southern coast of north Sumatera, would be perfect combination right? Hello from CA & thanks 4 great video on Lake Toba, esp Samuel's restaurant and more details about tour. Wish u would have included Carly & Agung. Take care. Indonesians believe symptoms of cold are caused by "masuk angin" or wind entering your body & making you sick. If you feel comfortable, try a local remedy such "coin massage".
