OMG, what an unbelievable experience. The close-up with the wild Orangutan and baby was a once in a lifetime event, surely.
Greetings from Vancouver Island. Was there 20 yrs ago, for an overnight trek. So good to see tourism is still strong there! So great for the families. Great video 👌
What a gorgeous place and what beautiful happy people! I loved this little venture! ❤️👍
Wow!!! This is one of the best most captivating & interesting videos I have ever seen from you! What a rare treat and glimpse into a land of pure, happy people in their environment. Extremely refreshing given in the current state of affairs elsewhere. It's definitely a must visit adventure soon. Thanks STL and keep them rolling in:)
I went to Bukit Lawang years ago, and a 2 night jungle trek. Enjoyed it soooooo much! Nice vid. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I was there in 1992. It's changed a lot, likely in part due to the river flooding the place out. There were only 3 places to stay back then - US$4/night for the best of it. Orang up at the contact site, but we also trekked up river and a mother/baby were along side. It was a good trip.
What a fantastic trip. I hope to follow in your footsteps someday.
I'm afraid this'll go for $60/night now that you've shown it in a YT vid. Lol! 😂

Hi Christian, in another comment below you were asking for suggestions about moving? My only advice would be to firstly visit before making any long term decisions (of course). If all goes well, then to gauge whether a place might fit your lifestyle, try a couple months at the desired destination before making any commitments. KZreadrs like me can make it all look super appealing but daily life may not measure up to an edited 15 min vlog... So have a great trip, take it slow, hope it works out and turns into a great move! Cheers! STL

Being more equatorial than Thailand dry/wet season is less defined. Looking at rainfall charts Feb-Mar and Jun-July have less rainfall but even in wetter months you'll get sun.

Lovely video - so nice to see Bukit Lawang so full of life post-pandemic. I know they did it really rough there during COVID. I'm sure it was amazing to see those orangutans up close at your accommodation, but I find it so sad. They are so at risk from contact with people - particularly babies- that I always feel nervous when I see them coming into human areas and interacting. Just beautiful though! Look forward to the next one.

Thomas Retreat rooms currently starting at $40 US. You must travel everywhere on the deepest off season day of the year. How on earth do you get the prices you get? What is your trick? Please post a video on that. 😀

Yep. Ideally need a decent camera and various lens especially for difficult shots (like Orangutans 30m up a tree against poor light). However, that gets expensive, considering it.
