But even though she has straps, is dangerous to wear glasses! I’ve wear them for almost 20 years, and if you fall on your face, the could go into your eyes!!
I am so jealous of Whoever is honored to have this job. Imagine traveling the world documenting fantastic gymnastics all while experiencing all the great gymnastics at the same time. Sharing their stories to people who do not know much about them to not only gymnastics fans but the whole community. I would love to do this one day

As an aspiring filmmaker, I was just thinking about this. I would've been ecstatic to have been able to create this and show it to the world. It's very well made.

Great points! But keep in mind, that person is imaginary. It literally takes a village to do something like this, or any complicated things humans do... documentary filmmaking, science, music, or gymnastics .. :))

I. Wynn Wynn I’m pretty sure that was an exaggeration haha. If she didn’t absolutely love it there’s no way she’d put herself through all that to reach her goal.
It was sad when Yile's baby sister looked at her as if she was a stranger at first. And at the end of the vid she doesn't want her older sister go then Yile says "k come to gymnastics with me then" and she runs away screaming... Lol i laughed but it was still kinda sad:'( Best of luck to all ladies but especially to Chen Yile who sacrificed so much for gymnastics

@@fatimacruzhernandez3087 no I know it's legal obviously! It just seems weird to watch the athlete's compete so long it's almost strange seeing them do everyday things like drive a car.

In most states in the US, kids can get their learner’s permit at 15 and earn their full license by 16 if they progress fast enough.
I feel so sorry for the Chinese girl that can’t see her parents for so long 😕

That's the reality for a lot of Chinese, athletes or not. Most have to leave their families in the countryside behind to pursue a better life in the cities.

6:46 caught my attention, because I know that meeting your family after a long time and seeing your little sister being shy in front of you hurts. She's really brave for choosing her way and working for it despite the sacrifices she had to make
That chinese family is so sweet loving and supportive
“Fefe” I cried so hard... Chinese, Russian, American, French it doesn’t matter emotions are universal. The stereotype about the Chinese program is surreal. Lots of glass shattering in my head. Never thought I’d be one of those.

I simply can't wait to see more of this serie- it is so inspiring and powerful! I wish there was more than just 1 episode per month! It would be very cool if you did it for some other sports as well, like RG, swimming, track and field... And the girls, it's like we have 3 contiments represented; America, Asia and Europe! The only bad thing is that the episodes last only 15'!

Agreed that the series is very good, and also agreed on other sports. Karate will be debuting in the Olympics in Tokyo. Why not do a similar series on karate? It would be great.
Dude in china it’s actually pretty common for those girls to leave their families to do gymnastics, but literally no one talks abt it like its a big deal. They understand that they gotta sacrifice to achieve their goals and whatever.
My favorite thing about gymnastics is no matter who wins I know i’m gonna be proud

@ciara beth I didn't say I am sure of that I just said DREAM podium .. However , my dream podium is so much better than having simone and one other boring american gymnast for gold and silver and having a bronze medal gymnast which is 10 points less than simone's points.Simone is dominant but very boring and robotic.I personally prefer the russians over her.They are more artistic.
I feel so bad for all these girls, Simone is going to clean up the Olympics. The fight for silver will be the gold for them.

I hope Melnikova can be consistent this time. She sometimes rushes her program, she commits more mistakes. Also hoping Aliya has upgraded bars and floor routine.

Melissa Wingfield thanks for clearing it up because i actually thought she was done because taking care of a baby and being an elite gymnast are very hard to juggle at the same time.

China invited him after he successfully coached Shawn and Gabby to become Olympic gold medalists. He didn't have any gymnasts in his gym training at the Olympics level at the time so he agreed.

He was born and raised in Beijing. I think he really was homesick and when they invited him he went for it. Valeri liukin is coaching in Brazil. Mijah Brestyn is coaching in Australia

@@MrGenexxx I didn't say I wasn't happy for Angelina. She did amazing, with one team gold and two individual bronze medals and I love her gymnastics. I just said it's sad to see two out of three didn't make it. Don't go starting arguments where there is no ill intent please.

Being an elite gymnast in the USA looks like a luxury compared to the poor girl in China. I can't imagine being away from family for 2 years that young. They're more like soldiers than little girls in gymnastics.

@@alondragarcia8924 Chow coached the USA gymnast Gabby Douglas to AA gold In 2012 Olympics and Shawn Johnson to Silver in 2008 Beijing Olympics. So the man is highly regarded in AA gymnastics and will make the Chinese team more of a threat in Tokyo.

It’s past me how these girls are able to throw themselves backward in multiple flips. And *ON A BEAM* Crazy when you really think of all the work these young women put in!
Are there subtitles or translations somewhere that I'm missing? I would love to know what the Chinese and Russian gymnasts are saying.

Melissa Wingfield I would think so. Laurie Hernandez has never even competed at a worlds and made the team so I’m sure Morgan still has a chance

He started coaching the Chinese team in 2018, but yes, he was coaching in the US before then
By todays standards... focused on acrobatics, Biles should have no problems winning, maybe all the medals, unless she suffers an injury. Good luck to the rest!

I LMFAO WHEN THE GUY SAID THAT GYMNASTICS IS THE “HARDEST SPORT END OF CONVERSATION”
I'm so confused. Double-checked my recollection and there was no European Championship all-around in 2018 (team) and de Jesus dos Santos won 2019 all-around. So what competition are they showing Melnikova winning? This is not criticism of her, this is criticism of the narrative of this story-line.

These were the European Games. Sort of like the Olympics but just for European countries. This was the second edition (it is organized every four years, in the pre-olympic season, so 2015 was the first time). Melnikova did very well here, and won the all-around. Also, it says 'european games 2019' on the banner in the video, so I am sure that's it. EDIT: it also explicitly says so in the video when Melnikova's bars are shown
