I love how Simone is a beast and still has energy to go partying at the end of the comp

Gymnastics is such a funny sport... we tend to only look at the podium winners... but every single one of those ladies are champions, even those who did not make the team! Blessings to you all!

You are so accurate. Some countries get zero recognition... big hitters have big backing and training facilities. Look at Dipka...India. she had no facility to train. Made up some of her often equipment.. the "untold stories " should be told!!

@@jojox9791 I totally agree with you on that one! It would have been nice to see the Indian, French or Dutch national team member, who are not so well known and who are fighting to be recognized. Few people know that South Africa and Egypt have gymnastics teams, which are developing their programs. These programs also need exposure. I find this way more interesting than watching a young woman pose excessively for the camera. Fans and gymnast really need to see the whole picture of gymnastics and not just the chocolate side. For example, the Chinese gymnast was hurt. Show that and how she overcame her injury. Morgan just signed to go to compete at college in 2022! For the Russian gymnasts who wants to go into fashion, crack those books: study business and fashion design! Your looks aren't going to be there forever, so get experience in areas of expertise!

I guess I’m different, because I look at all of them. To get up there and do what they do, even the ones that don’t make all these different events, is amazing. I wish they all could walk away with something, because they all deserve it.

@@traild32 you're not different. I go through as many vids as I can and watch many meets where I can not even understand a word being said lol. I also go back after big meets, like a Worlds (or smaller) and watch the entire competition , since media focuses on those at the top. There are some amazing talents out there who just cant quite step out in front of the best in the world and get noticed. While I'm not a fan of the 2 per rule, it does afford us the opportunity to see other gymnasts we may not have normally seen vying for a medal. (The main reason I dislike the rule is because it isnt "truly" the top 24 gymnasts....someone who placed 49th ends up in the mix and that in turn just makes it easier for the top seeded gymnasts to win)

Angelina's wolf turns were beautiful. When Russia won silver and she said it was like a gold medal, I was confused. I don't understand why she said Russia can't compete against USA yet. It was so cute watching Chen's little sister cheering for her and also her mom praying for her. I really wanted all the teams to medal but Chen looked like she had a tough day. I'm happy she kept her spirits up and realized she is coming back from an injury and hasn't competed since. I wish all of the ladies well.

Russia was just looking weak compared to the US and even Chine. It was expected that USA would get the gold, China silver, and a combo of France/Italy/Japan bronze if Russia pulled a Russia. But Russia didn't pull a Russia and instead won silver.

I think she said they can't compete with the USA right now because Biles is kinda killing it and she's American, and besides her on the team is just potential galore. Hurd didn't even make the team USA has so much talent right now is all. They don't know what to do with all the badass gymnasts. That is pretty much the only reason I see. Not that Russia isn't a gymnastics powerhouse. No Offense to them at all.

gymfan101 that's not true though. You can clearly see that Chinese athletes lacks of depth AND consistency either. It was obvious that silver spot will go either to Russia or China

With simone biles (USA) on the usa gym team the americans come into competition with like a 5 point cushion - meaning someone could fall up to three times and they would still being in first place that's why Angelina said a silver feels like a gold

I'm pretty sure she ( Morgan) will make it to Tokyo she's got the fire in her

@@jojox9791 I agree, and it stinks, but I really like Morgan and want to see her at Tokyo, she is consistent, and the whole Jade thing is kind of pissing me off because there is no way Skinner is going to make it now. The only lock is Simone, a healthy Simone.

Ikr gym Twitter sometimes is a very toxic environment.

While some are missing the whose gonna win gold parity , I’m over head excited about what new skill is gonna be thrown. This new era of gymnastics is exhilarating. We have seen skills we never thought would be performed just only in our dreams.

I wish Oksana will have a featurette before tokyo 2020. Tokyo will be her 8th consecutive olympic games

The US gymnastics team has so much depth that a few great gymnasts will be left in the US. I'm predicting Hurd will be one of them. The only way to make the team is to have the difficulty and consistency to hit every routine when it counts. Consistency will be more important than the difficulty.

I highly suggest they review the use of that machine the second girl used for her self massage. Those can cause tissue damage with the amount of force they use.

I felt like Flavia Saraiva was a little underscored in Floor Finals so Angelina could've get the bronze. Don't get me wrong, Angelina is great and has more difficulty if I'm not mistaken but Flavia PUT UP A SHOW! She deserved that bronze so bad!

Maïly she’s still on the national team. being on the world team doesn’t mean you’ll be on the Olympics (for example: Maggie Nichols was on the 2015 world’s team and didn’t make the 2016 Olympic team, not even as an alternate), injuries can happen, people can improve, people can make a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes in national championships/trials, the upcoming juniors who will turn senior in 2020 could be amazing. There are many deciding factors. The only guarantee for the 2020 team is Simone unless she gets injured or completely self destructs in competition.

This isnt the biggest stage. How about when Simone Biles, Aliya Mustafina, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and Laurie Hernandez were there. How about in 2012 and 2008, Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, Kyla Ross, Victoria Komava, and soooo many other great gymnasts.

Morgan Hurd has worn glasses her entire career. She's trained at her home gym and competed all over the world and has never had an issue being hurt by wearing glasses. I'm sure if she landed face first it might be a problem, but that would be a problem regardless of the glasses.

@Mara L i myself wear glasses when biking and have had in injury in a fall when the glasses poked into my skin. I've heard that others can also get injured too like in baseball when a ball grazed the glasses of a player and that causes the bridge of the glasses to be embedded into the nose (ouch!).

They are surprisingly softer. They learned from the past to not push athletes too much in that dangerous sport. Plus the rhytmic gymnasts are replaceable cuz 6+ of them are gold medal material .

Not putting Morgan on the team was a major error

It's not really fair that the women have a limited career lifespan in competitive gymnastics (usually stopping in their early-mid 20s), but the men can compete into their 40s. Chousovitina is the exception. And she's only doing vault.

A bit disappointing that when dialogue is not in English there are no subtitles

You have to look at the differences. There is no Romania to contend with. China is not up to their usual standards. Italy and others like Canada and France are coming up quick. There "was" a point mustafina was carrying the team because Gelya couldnt get through one competition without falling, repeatedly! (She even admits this was the first time she was able to keep it together and win an individual medal).... so those Mustafina fans were not necessarily wrong. They relied HEAVILY on her for years. She knew she could hold back this worlds. If Gelya hadn't gained the confidence she finally did...aliyah would have been there. (I'm glad she rested herself)! You jumped the gun on this one

@AshTheOne I guess they're saying Simone Biles is the US buffer as she scores so high, it allows for the team to make mistakes. Lets not put bad juju on Simone though because she's retiring after 2020 so I want her to be at full strength to compete.

Morgan has fallen off, I don’t know if it’s her nerves or she’s just tired but something isn’t right with her. I’m worried that if she makes the USA Olympic gymnastics team she won’t perform at her best when it counts.

I don't know why they trying so hard to push Carey (I guess her dad is plugged seeing they keep advertising he's a coach) But there is nothing at all to any of her performances. She's just a strong flipper but nothing else (no finesse in her flips or any of her movements and no artistry, (not a great flipper just a strong flipper)
