Nah that’s not why he does it. Zach is a proud mercenary. He could not possibly care less about the team. But he is very interested in pitching as a craft

Affeldt: only reliever to have come into a WS game in the 2d, 3, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th inning 💪🏼

Everyone needs a Zach Greinke sometimes.

Affeldt was not a lefty relief specialist. He was left handed, yes, but he was more of a firefighter than any kind of specialist. Javier Lopez was their lefty specialist, whereas Affeldt was the guy Bochy went to in the 5th or 6th to bridge to Brian Wilson/Romo/Casilla. Or if a starter in an important/close-ish game is taken out early, it’s Affeldt that would go in and pitch 2-3 innings to hand it over to the rest of the bullpen. He was the guy they went to when Tim Hudson was losing Game 7 vs the Royals. Affeldt was the guy that put out Hudson’s fires, calmed the KC bats, and got the G’s to Bumgarner, and we know the rest. Affeldt was a guy who almost always got 4 outs(3rd out of one inning and 3 of the next) but he regularly went 2-3 innings under Bochy. Then they still had savvy, sharp movement from Romo, side arm Lefty-One-Out-GuY(LOOGY) Javier Lopez(King of coming in to face the opponent’s BEST LH hitter at the end of games), Santiago Casilla, like Affeldt, began his career as a starter, however Bochy rarely used him for more than 1 or 2 innings. Yet, Casilla was a RHP who threw in the mid 90’s(94-96) WITH ridiculous movement. His 2-seam fastball had so much arm-side movement, it often looked like a left-handed pitcher’s cutter/slider. Then there was the Beard, Brian Wilson. Threw hard(unlike Romo/Lopez) from the right side(like Casilla), but Wilson was going to challenge hitters with 96-99mph fastballs inside, very aggressive. Classic Brian Wilson save would be strikeout, 8 pitch single, 4 pitch strikeout, 5 pitch walk, and then 1-4 pitch pop up/strikeout. Seemed like nearly every save he had was another pitch away from a walk off/go ahead score, but that’s why they called 2010 Giants baseball “torture”. Many years of Matt Cain straight dealing just to give up 1-3 runs and take the loss.

Greinke's a hall of fame who's had some big contracts

Zach Grienke will always be one of my favorite pitchers ever. The man had some of the nastiest breaking balls I've ever seen in the past 15-20yrs.

It's important in just about anything to be honest with yourself. If you're telling yourself you did something right when you didn't, you can't correct it. Having a Zack around keeps you honest and makes sure you're always correcting the right things. It was a poorly executed pitch. Now that you know, you can work on that execution.
